Non-life Insurance {--} Contemporary Trends
KAMIŠOVÁ, Martina
Any man and any company can be endangered by risks. People can be mostly at risk of an accident, death, or destroying of his property. On the other hand, companies can be at risk of natural disasters or financial problems. Risks can endanger the existence of people as well as companies and for this reason insurance was created. The topic of this Bachelor work is Non-life Insurance {--} Contemporary Trends. The Bachelor work focuses on household insurance describes in detail its basic characteristics together with a comparison of this insurance product offered by two Czech insurance companies. It outlines advantages and disadvantages from the point view of potential clients. One section of the work is devoted to a comparison of household insurance offered by Allianz in the Czech Republic with the same product offered by the same insurance company in Slovakia.

The death penalty
Papřoková, Veronika ; Moravec, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dvorská, Daniela (referee)
The death penalty is very controversial topic in contemporary society that is discussed at both national and international level. The aim of my thesis is to describe this topic from various perspectives. The first part is dedicated to theoretical analysis of this issue, the definition of punishment, definition of the death penalty, its function and purpose. This section also describes the practice of the death penalty in the past and present. Another area deals with the legislative anchoring based on international instruments or national laws. The practical part is devoted to the topic of the death penalty in terms of the coherence of several aspects, especially the social, cultural and religious influence. The essence of this section is to demonstrate the interconnectedness of these effects in relation to the number of death sentences in individual countries or regions.

Changes in wetlands - change trajectories, causes
Brašna, Vlastimil ; Skaloš, Jan (advisor) ; Josef, Josef (referee)
This thesis analyzes the historical development of wetlands in corn production areas in Moravia, Czech Republic. Wetlands were analyzed changes in time and space for a period of 180 years. The main objective is to analyze the development of wetland habitats in the landscape using old maps, aerial photographs and GIS. The bases were of the Imperial Imprints of the Stable cadastre from the first half of the 19th century and contemporary orthophoto. There were also used GIS layers of the current location of wetlands, farmland, forests, rivers and waterways. In historical documents were evaluated by two categories 1) wet meadows and 2) swamps and marshes. In the current surface are only evaluated wetlands. The total area is 18054 ha. The area of wetlands dramatically decreased from 108 ha in the first half of the 19th century on 14 ha in 2015. Most of the wetlands have been converted to agricultural land - arable land (72 %), meadows and pastures (12 %). Wetlands succession was transformed to bushes (5,4 %). There was 5 % of the deaths of wetlands built and drained. Most wetlands have been transformed due to the pressure on the production function of the landscape in order to get more food. In the first half of the 19th century it was dominated by wet meadows, they had 684 ha. Despite the disappearance of a large part of the wetlands created new wetlands, which have 12.4 hectares. Most newly created wetlands are located in the cadastral area of Mutěnice. Only one wetland (1.68 ha) remained unchanged, located in cadastral Čejč. This wetland had a history of more land (25.15 hectares) and has been linked with Čejčské Lake. The main result of this work is to determine the trajectories of development of wetland ecosystems in the lowlands of Moravia. Descriptions of these trajectories have contributed to understanding influences on the development of wetlands. Results wetlands contribute to the development of knowledge in the field of landscape ecology. The results can be used to restore extinct wetlands and creation of new wetlands in the historic wet meadows. The information obtained can be used in landscape planning with regard to the protection and management of wetlands.

Antidysrrhythmic drugs in the treatment of life-threatening dysrrhythmias
Tůmová, Klára ; Hrdina, Radomír (advisor) ; Tilšer, Ivan (referee)
AABBSSTTRRAACCTT Sudden death caused by a serious arrhythmia is quite common in the developed countries. Although pharmacotherapy is not the intervention of choice for patients who suffer from arrhythmia accompanied by serious objective symptoms (hypoxia, hypotension, chest pain), it plays an important role as an adjunct to non-pharmacological intervention in cases, when the intervention did not have the desired effect itself. Even as prevention of new arrhythmic episodes pharmacotherapy gives more and more place to radiofrequency ablation and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD). It is an alternative to invasive intervention when this is not indicated for any reason and a useful adjunct to ICD in patients with frequent arrhythmic episodes requiring a discharge. Searching for patients at risk of a serious arrhythmia, especially for primary prevention, is of limited potentials. Results of presently used tests have limited predictive value, in addition to this many abnormal findings are not prognostically important for otherwise healthy persons. Those findings can have certain significance when found in patients with structural heart disease or rare genetic arrhythmogenic syndromes. This work reviews contemporary possibilities of treatment and prevention of arrhythmias including new methods. The...

Violence and formal challenge in the plays of Sarah Kane and Martin Crimp
Strnadová, Klára ; Pilný, Ondřej (referee) ; Wallace, Clare (advisor)
Both Crimp and Kane are genuine innovators of the dramatic form. The issues dealt with in their works are related; they share similar concerns about the dangers of nowadays' society - and, with it, theatre. This might not be apparent at first sight because of the divergence of styles. Crimp's style is language-centred, hyper-realistic at times, drawing a lot from the theatre of the absurd. He provides a characteristic mixture of satirical edge, ironic detachment and hidden threat. While Crimp works exclusively with the contemporary sensibility, Kane's proximity to the tradition of tragedy can be seen in what she employs in her plays - the big passions, "love, hate, death, revenge, suicide."1 Kane differs from both modernists and postmodernists by her refusal of detachment and by her requirement of emotional involvement. Both the playwright and her characters are absolutist, truth-seeking and provocative. Crimp prevents emotional identification even in the plays that at first sight seem realistic; in the experimental dramas, the distancing device of having stories narrated rather than just shown "allows Crimp to mix acerbic satire with rapid shifts of tone and focus,"2 asking intellectual questions in a convincingly dramatic form. The intense emotional content, which in Kane is delivered by the explicit,...

Dying, death, pain- an overview of the problematics and probe into secondary students opinions
Spáčil, Pavel ; Marešová, Ladislava (referee) ; Ventura, Václav (advisor)
In my diploma thesis, I describe the most important scopes investigating the problems of euthanasia. The historical development in the perception not only of the death itself but also of its meaning has a crucial impact on a contemporary attitude towards the basic questions of the end of human life. There is a considerable distance between a nowadays society on one hand and the death and dying people on the other hand and, therefore, the society determines the significance of dying in a rather simplified way and does not often comprehend the unique meaning of dying.

Natural compounds in foods with anti-cancer effects
Soukup, Josef ; Orsák, Matyáš (advisor) ; Hnilička, František (referee)
In this thesis, I focus on natural substances which are present in commonly available foods and their effects can not only considerably prevent, but also help treat cancer. As this is a very extensive topic, included are only substances which have been studied for this purpose for a long time and which have a large potential in this area. These are phenolic compounds, carotenoids, sulfur compounds, substances found in cruciferous vegetables or green tea, beta-glucans and their sources, and other health beneficial foods such as turmeric, ginger or garlic. I also mention several vitamins (C, E, A, D) which directly show anti-cancer effects or are used in combination with other means to increase the efficiency of the treatment. The deficiency of some other essential vitamins and minerals increase the risk of certain types of cancer as well and a large amount of anti-cancer acting compounds can be also found in herbs, exotic mushrooms, marine organisms and microorganisms, but that area exceeds the content of this thesis. Although nowdays there are substances targeted at only one symptom and can have a certain effect, these medicaments are associated with many side effects and are also expensive. The contemporary paradigm for cancer treatment is either combine several single-targeted medicaments or come up with medicaments that modulate multiple targets. Various types of cancer have similar character, but due to a different etiology of each type and different effect of individual anti-cancer substances (even belonging in the same chemical group), the efficiancy of these compounds against various types of cancer, mostly depending on metabolism, distribution in organism and the target use, differs significantly. Therefore, some substances can show a very strong anti-cancer effect at certain cancer types, while almost none at different types. Other factors such as biological availability or stability make utilization of many compounds more difficult. Basic types of anti-cancer effects are: antioxidant effects (the ability to scavenge free radicals), antiproliferative effects (the inhibition of uncontrolled growth), the ability to induce apoptosis (induction of programmed cell death), the ability to inhibit metastasis and anti-angiogenic effects (prevention of the formation of new blood vessels of the tumor).

The Chamber theatre 1950-1976
Štérová, Dora ; Miholová, Kateřina (referee) ; Just, Vladimír (advisor)
This MA thesis is dedicated to the most important period of work of the Chamber Theater in currently non-existing space in the great hall of the Central Hotel in Hybernska Street, Prague. It was the home of the Cabaret Cervena sedma, and in the twenties of the Orion Movie Theater. Since 1930 the Chamber Theater belonged to the Vinohrady Theater, and in 1950 it became one of the stages of the City Theaters of Prague. During the ,,vinohrady era" the Chamber Theater was intended for generally "lighter" repertory but from half of 1950's until its elimination in 1976 it became an exceptional occurrence in the context of contemporary professional theaters. It managed to effectively fight against political imperatives; it produced such shows as Bulgakov's Escape, Durrenmatt's Physicists, Play Strindberg and Romulus the Great, Sartre's Flies, Kllma'a Jury, Barnes's The Rulling Class even Shakespeare's Richard II. This theater was the birth place of one of the . most famous productions by the director Alfred Radok, Rolland's ·Game of Love and Death. Apart from Radok many other regime-unpopular directors have worked there as well - for example: Karel Dostal and Miroslav Machacek. The repertory of the Chamber Theater can be considered as an example of a precious dramaturgic policy which was balancing on the edge of...

John Huss and Importance of his Personality for the Process of Convergence Churches
Homolková, Marie ; Jandejsek, Petr (advisor) ; Heřmánek, Pavel (referee)
In my work I concentrate on the problem of the importance of Master John Huss for the contemporary process of convergence churches. My aim is to show the progress of the discussion about John Huss and the process of changing the thinking about him during the human history. I try to concentrate on the question whether John Huss is still the important personality and the subject for the dialogue during the contemporary effort to convergence Catholics and non-Catholics or not. John Huss was an imporatnt priest and preacher who was trying to reform the church all his life. In 1415 John Huss was sentenced and burnt as a heretic. His death became the beginning of the Hussite movement. In the middle of the 19th century the interest in John Huss was revived - he was considered to be the symbol of the Czech nation and patriotism. In the beginning of the 20th century John Huss was celebrated as a critic and antagonist of the Catholic church. The second Vatican council brought new comprehension of John Huss. During the folowing years many discussions about his life, writings and thoughts proceeded. John Huss began to be considered the part of the protestant and even catholic tradition. In 1990s new possibilities for other scientific researches of Master′s personality were appearing. In1993 conference in Bayreuth took...
