Gender roles and school
Marešová, Hana ; Vodochodský, Ivan (advisor) ; Smetáčková, Irena (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to examine and compare the notions of gender roles in the view of students, teachers and textbooks. The issue of gender roles involved in school environment concerns theoretical concepts of social construction of gender and theories of gender socialization. In the view of social constructionism gender as a social phenomenon is created, institutionalized and made into traditions by humans. Social constructionism is opposed to essentialism. A gender role is a set of behavioral norms associated with males and females in a given social group or institution. Schools, among other social institutions, are organized upon a dichotomous gender/sex system. According to cultural rules, norms and values, certain characteristics, attributes and roles are assigned to males and females based on their biological sex. The process through which the individual learns and accepts roles is called socialization. Socialization works by encouraging wanted and discouraging unwanted behavior. School as one of the agencies of socialization performs role behavior models and expectations. Through mechanisms of social control sanctions are used to make it clear what behavioral norms the child is expected to follow. Empirical survey explored the notions of gender roles perceived in school environment. It consisted...

Europeanization of Social Dialogue in the Czech Republic
Polivka, Tamara ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Samek, Vít (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the europeanization of social dialogue in the Czech Republic, i.e. the change of social dialogue vis-à-vis the influence of the EU. The change is explored in relation to five areas: the competences and legitimity of social partners, the "content" of social dialogue, socialization, strategies of interest representation and institutional structures of social dialogue. The integration of the Czech Republic into the EU incl. the membership of social partners in European federations of social partners has a considerable potential to influence social dialogue in the Czech Republic. However the thesis concludes that there are some barriers on the national level which inhibit the full impact of europeanization Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

PROSTITUTION IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND NORWAY A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
WALDEJER, Tereza
My thesis deals with the topic of prostitution. As a research strategy for my master thesis I have chosen qualitative research. For developing my paper I was using various research methods such as participant observation, unstructured interviews, case study and qualitative comparative analysis. My paper is based on empirical studies which I have obtained during my internship in the organization Albertine Prosjektet in Stavanger likewise on cooperation with the Czech NGO Rozkoš bez rizika in České Budějovice. My results appeared from unstructured interviews with social workers of both organizations as well as with women in prostitution, and subsequent interconnection with theoretical knowledge. My aim was to elaborate a comparative study of prostitution in the Czech Republic and Norway with predominant focus on the České Budějovice area and Stavanger area in order to present the current situation in prostitution markets. Feminist points of view play also an important role because prostitution can be explained as a gender-based phenomenon. This perspective is one of the key points of my paper.

Semotánová, Adéla ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Řezáčová, Vendula (referee)
The subject of the thesis is meanings of the physical exercising presented in the Czech women magazines, which I explored through qualitative content analysis of the articles focused on exercising. Three relevant frames or research areas emerged from foreign literature, which became the frames of the analysis: value of the exercise related to the body, the exercise as possible social field and gender level of these practices. I was specifically interested, if the exercise is presented as activity that helps to create socially disciplined body or individually restituted body for personal needs. Or if the exercise creates specific social field - sphere with specific relationship, rules and capital and if the gender is an important factor, connected to the presentation of the exercises in magazines, focused on women. The results show that the exercise is activity that creates the restituted body so as the disciplined body. It is not possible to define, if it is specific social field. The articles content so positive indications as those, which do not comply with the social field definition. Ideal femininity and ideal woman body should be reached by exercising. This ideal woman identity varies from reader's identity, which magazines define as "common" woman. The gender is an important factor that has...

Gender Sensitive Social Work With Female Asylum Seekers

New perspectives on bullying
Říčan, Pavel ; Janošová, Pavlína
Bullying is viewed in the Czech and Slovak specialized literature mostly as the social-psychological process when the structure of a social group gradually transforms into a malign form. In comparison with the worldwide approach, the psychoanalytical viewpoint is applied more strongly in Czech studies. Within the scope of the research done in the Institute of Psychology, we focus also on the development of the social relationships in the school class and on the individuals in the role of defenders of victimized peers. On the basis of the social-cognitive approach along with the gender context, we analyze inter-group differences in ethical reasoning of the school aggressors, victims and their defenders.
