Předmětem diplomové jsou významy cvičení v českém kontextu na základě kvalitativní obsahové analýzy článků v časopisech pro ženy. Ze zahraniční literatury vyplynuly tři relevantní rámce nebo oblasti zkoumání, které se staly také rámcem analýzy: význam cvičení ve vztahu k tělu, cvičení jako možné sociální pole a genderová rovina této praktiky. Konkrétněji mě pak zajímalo, zda je cvičení prezentováno jako aktivita, která přispívá k vytváření těla ukázněného pro společnost nebo restituovaného pro potřeby jedince, zda vytváří cvičení specifické sociální pole, a zda je gender významným faktorem v souvislosti s prezentací cvičení v časopisech určených ženám. Výsledky poukazují na to, že cvičení je praktika přispívající jak k vytváření těla ukázněného, tak i restituovaného. Nelze určit, zda je sociálním polem, protože články obsahují jak náznaky, že by polem mohlo být, tak i aspekty, které se s definicí sociálního pole vylučují. Cvičením má být dosahováno ideálního ženství, jehož součástí je i ideál ženského těla. Tato ideální ženská identita se liší od identity čtenářek, která je časopisy konstruována jako "běžná" žena. Gender je sice významným faktorem ovlivňujícím podobu tělesného ideálu, ale v principu cvičení nehraje významnou roli. The subject of the thesis is meanings of the physical exercising presented in the Czech women magazines, which I explored through qualitative content analysis of the articles focused on exercising. Three relevant frames or research areas emerged from foreign literature, which became the frames of the analysis: value of the exercise related to the body, the exercise as possible social field and gender level of these practices. I was specifically interested, if the exercise is presented as activity that helps to create socially disciplined body or individually restituted body for personal needs. Or if the exercise creates specific social field - sphere with specific relationship, rules and capital and if the gender is an important factor, connected to the presentation of the exercises in magazines, focused on women. The results show that the exercise is activity that creates the restituted body so as the disciplined body. It is not possible to define, if it is specific social field. The articles content so positive indications as those, which do not comply with the social field definition. Ideal femininity and ideal woman body should be reached by exercising.
