Ledvinová, Nina ; Oudová, Drahomíra (referee) ; Krahulcová, Beáta (advisor)
In my thesis "Dynamics of small groups" I deal with the topic of small groups. In the first part I focus on the characteristics of small groups, their segmentation and interaction. In the second part I look closer at the impact of the programme Primary prevention on the pupils themselves. It shows the importance of primary programmes at the primary school, which help to improve the cooperation and relations in the class. The practical part is based on my experience at the Christian-pedagogic counselling centre, where I engaged for two years in the cooperation with a primary school within the frame of the Primary prevention programme at the primary school. From a social worker's point of view the aim of the research part was to investigate whether this programme helped to improve the relations among the pupils of 12 - 13 years of age. Moreover, several key definitions concerning the topics are presented - hierarchy, community, group norms, conformity, de-individualization, anonymity, individualism and others.

The work entitled "A Comparison of wedding traditions in the Christian and Jewish culture" means that will be comparing cultural thinking of faithful Jews and Christians. As indicators of cultural norms I have chosen respected and kept wedding customs. On each particuliar indicators I will be searching similarities and differences between the Christian and Jewish social view of the world. Culture and belief interact and support each other. Essential requirements of the faith and rules keeping, determined by religious community, are most clearly manifested in the customs practiced. For me, the preferred customs are these maintained before and during the wedding day. In my work I will therefore comparing above all socio-cultural meaning of marriage and marriage itself, which is in the course of centuries accompanied by more or less stable and unchanging habits. Thesis will be divided into four parts. In the first part I will examine the theoretical exploration of the Jewish wedding, and then in the second part the Christian weddings. In the third part I intend to compare different cultural expressions of religious Jews and Christians. The thesis wil be finished by two kinds od interview conducted with a small sample of randomly selected respondents who attended the wedding as the bride or groom.

Mapping the Individual Musical Experience in Post-Apartheid South Africa: A Bio-Ethnography of Township Dweller Lesiba Samuel Kadiaka
Zdrálek, Vít ; Matoušek, Vlastislav (advisor) ; Lucia, Christine Elizabeth (referee) ; Horáková, Hana (referee)
The dissertation is a biographical ethnography of an individual, ordinary musician and Mamelodi township dweller, Lesiba Samuel Kadiaka (*1962) in South Africa. It is based largely on fieldwork totalling more than 12 months conducted in five periods over six years between 2006 and 2011. It examines the possibilities of studying an average (rather than 'leading') musician ethnographically and their implications and consequences for wider ethnomusicological and South African music research. It makes a practical contribution to the wider debate about the relationship between individual, social, and cultural structures, and breaks new ground in its focus on the previously little known music and practices of Mr. Kadiaka's church, the Zion Christian Church. The research consisted mainly of ethnographic observations of various kinds of musical activities in which Mr. L. S. Kadiaka was involved in as a solo musician (songwriter and song singer) and as a member of the ZCC, on the one hand, and of deep interviews over the time span of six years, on the other. It consists of a biographical part dealing with his narratives about childhood in rural Ga-Mphahlele and his later life in Mamelodi township. Iconographic historical sources of a private nature are use too. The second part describes in three large...

Sehnsucht: an introduction to the romantic desire
Smolen, Štěpán ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Lyčka, Milan (referee)
The present thesis explores the experience of romantic desire (Sehnsucht). It is mostly based on a wide comparative study of the 19th century European and partly also Northern American literary texts which are used as a tool to define and describe the key features of the Sehnsucht experience. It also tries to demonstrate - using the method of ideal types - the different attitudes of the romantics towards their longing. The final chapter then deals with the various kinds of the counter-romantic criticism that are both aimed against the Sehnsucht experience and relevant from the perspective of the religious studies; it also shows several different Christian responses to this experience. The thesis exposes practical implications of different answers to the relation between the infinite desire and the finite world, between the promises of the miraculous Blue Flower and the everyday life. Rather than arguing for one or other of these answers it wants to create a map of both affirmative and critical attitudes to Sehnsucht.
