Comparison of Thatcherism and New Labour on the Example of Their Approach to the Welfare State
Šimunská, Petra ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Rovná, Lenka (referee)
Thatcherism and New Labour represent British version of the New Right and the Third Way - ideological approaches which influenced many Western countries in the last two decades of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century. The similarities between Thatcherism and New Labour have been the source of considerable academic and political discussion. This study is focused on the welfare state and governmental measures and reforms in social security system. The research is designed as comparative study based on data analysis of secondary and primary sources. This thesis aims to define key similarities and differences of proposed ideologies. It suggests that the main difference between Thatcherism and New Labour is grounded in their primary understanding of the role of the welfare state system in society and related long term policies rather than in intended short term targets and reforms. Moreover, the influence of these ideas on policy making process of Thatcher and Blair governments is discussed.

This master thesis discusses alternative debt management instruments - GDP-linked bonds. It provides concise characterization of sovereign debt management. Additionally, it discusses traditional derivatives, such as futures, swaps and bonds, from the government's point of view. The main goal of the thesis is to verify whether GDP-linked bonds are suitable for the Czech and Slovak debt management. Ergo, the bonds could smooth the cost of serving the debt. Furthermore, it describes the development of the sovereign debt and risk premium of the government bonds of the Czech and Slovak republics. It tries to find out whether the risk premium of Slovak bonds differed after introduction of euro. Additionally, the thesis analyzes the effect of various country specific variables on the development of the risk premium. The last but not least goal is to support or reject the hypothesis whether the GDP-linked bonds should be appealing to European economic and monetary union as the members has to satisfied Stability and Growth Pact requirements. Legal regime of mining related land
Sochovský, Vít ; Drobník, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Franková, Martina (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with legal regulation of lands affected by mining activities. These activities, predominantly the extraction of minerals are by their nature very closely related to soil and land. The thesis offers a comprehensive view of the legal relations in the process of mining - from prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits to mine closure - while it discusses the key issues from the perspective of the land owner as well as the mining companies. Legal relations arising from mining activities are significantly influenced by the character of mining. Mining interferes with rights and interests related to land and ownership of land which gives rise to certain conflicts. Mining companies' interests come very often into conflict with interests of the owner of the land where the mineral deposit is located. The legal relations are further complicated by the position of the state who acts as an owner of mineral wealth and an authority defending public interests. The introductory chapter of the thesis defines the terms that are essential for the selected topic. The content of the next chapters corresponds with phases of mining activities as they are carried out in reality. Prospecting and exploration of exclusive deposits represents the first phase of mining activity. In the chapter...

Pilková, Jarmila ; Boháč, Radim (referee) ; Marková, Hana (advisor)
102 Financial Management of a Non-profit-making Organisation with an International Element Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to illustrate in complexity financial management of a specific type of non-profit-making legal entity, an organisation with an international element. The reason for my research is the fact that the regime of a non-profit-making organisation, especially in the area of accounting and taxes, differs in many aspects from the one of profit-making entities and is very complex, complicated and unclean. Moreover, the regulations of this very type of non-profit-making organisation have never been analysed in complexity before. In the text I try to analyse the legal regulations, collect and summarize accessible opinions of experts and introduce some of my own theories. The paper is composed of five chapters, each of them examining different aspects of the legal and especially financial regime of the organisation. Chapter One illustrates the basic issues concerning the concept of a non-profit making organisation. The chapter is subdivided into four parts. Part One deals with the notion itself. Part Two explains the reasons for its existence and purposes of its activities. Part Three describes different forms it can exist in. Part Four documents a short history of the non-profit-making...

Motivation and satisfaction of employees in a selected company
Bošková, Markéta ; Dvořáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Švarná, Jana (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the motivation and satisfaction of employees in a selected company. The thesis is divided into two parts -- theoretical and practical. First, the thesis defines the theoretical concept of motivation and satisfaction and defines a projective method called Colour Association Technique (CAT) from the concept of Balance Management. The practical part of the thesis presents the company where the research was done. Further methodology of research is presented in this part. In the methodology of research a questionnaire survey was chosen. A questionnaire survey focused on 7 areas of motivation and satisfaction covering 25 study-factors. Further, individual interviews were held with a selected sample of employees, and the projective method mentioned was used. The main body of the practical part consists of an evaluation of the results using all research methods. Individual results are compared and in conclusion recommendations for improving the current situation in the company are suggested. These final recommendations may become a basis for the future development of an optimal motivation program, which the company has not yet implemented.
