The goal of the thesis "The Greek and Roman reformers" is to establish representative summary and comparison of the actions of the most important political figures of ancient Greece and Rome, that significantly influenced the power structure of society, and also a comparison of then political systems as such. It is focused especially on concrete actions and legislative, especially constitutional, changes initiated by the selected reformers, it also deals with personal motivations and a brief biographical informations. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part deals with Greece, particularly Athens, and tracks the causes, origin, evolution and the victory of democracy, but also problems associated with it, and the main actors in this process, namely Solon, it's founder, who was not entirely consistent in suppressing the power of the wealthy ones, radical democrat Cleisthenes and his decisive steps towards equality and the removal of the aristocratic regime, and charismatic Pericles, who, though accused of populism and demagogy, gave a decisive impetus to the Athenian political, cultural and power development and within his epoch the democracy has achieved its peak. Development of Land Adjustment in the Czech republic
BLÁHOVÁ, Barbora
This bachelor thesis is devoted to the development of land consolidation at our area. Land consolidation issue can be met since the ancient times till the present time. With the help of this bachelor thesis I would like to resume the main developmental stages (the period of feudalism, capitalism, consolidation, land reforms, period of collectivisation and socialisation of villages, creation of collective farms, technological-agricultural conversion till the present time). Each of these stages had a different form, content and also agricultural and social goal. The last chapter aims to compare land consolidation here with other countries. In each country land consolidations reflect political, agricultural, economical and legal standards. They are a tool of practical realization of agricultural policy of ruling classes. Land possession always had different reasons and ways of realisation of land consolidation.

Greek and Roman reformers
Grigoryan, Hračja ; Skřejpek, Michal (advisor) ; Bělovský, Petr (referee)
The goal of this thesis on roman and greek reformers was to create a methodical summary of the most important constitutional reforms in ancient Rome and Greece. It is mostly focussed on the history of ancient Rome or Roman reformers, respectively. I call these reforms constitutional for their undoubted life-changing impact on the society as a whole - some of the reforms changed the ancient societies for the upcoming decades and even centuries, some changed them, as I believe, forever. For example a struggle between Lucius Cornelius Sulla and Gaius Marius had a far- reaching impact on Rome as too much of "unbreakable" rules were broken - which, of course, led to another and another heavy and unprecedented interventions which ultimately led to the fall of the republic and the beginning of the new, Imperial, era. Main sources of this thesis are the texts of ancient authors, such as Plutarch Suetonius and Appian, as it was one of my goals to use primary literature as much as possible.

Borovková, Linda ; Housková, Anna (advisor) ; Poláková, Dora (referee)
The American Indians in Gabriela Mistral's life and work The Chilean writer Gabriela Mistral, with legal name Lucila de María del Perpetuo Socorro Godoy Alcayaga (April 7, 1889, Vicuña, Chile - January 10, 1957, New York, USA) considered herself as a mestizo. Her father had indigenous ancestors from the tribe of Diaguitas and her mother had Basque ancestors. The American Indians, pre-Columbian inhabitants of Americas, were one of the topics she was interested in. Her interest in the American Indians, their ancient culture and their actual position in the society, is reflected in her literary creation. In her poetry and in her prose appear the motives related with the pre- Columbian civilizations and also the topic of the agrarian reform. Acording to Mistral, everybody has the right to own his part of the land and also to the education. Georg Barthold Pontanus of Breitenberg and his funeral orations as a historical source
Daňková, Tereza ; Hojda, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Sládek, Miloš (referee)
Funeral orations, as a literary genre on the boundary between written and verbal communication, experienced a resurrection in the Czech Republic during the 1990s as part of a reawakening of interest in Czech Baroque literature and culture and associated literary genres pertaining to the subject of death. In seeking the origins of this literary form one must go much farther back than the beginning of the modern era. Literary tributes to the dead have deep roots in European culture, originating already during ancient times. The textual construction of funeral orations in the early modern era was based on the classical form known from the ancient orators Menander and Dionysius of Halicarnassus. During the period around 1500 the development of this homiletic genre was influenced by two factors. The first was the invention of printing, which already in the late fifteenth century led to publication and dissemination of speeches, and thus of course to a rise in their level of dignity and their didactic function. At the same time, with the arrival of the Lutheran reformation came a new manner of perceiving life after death, the fundamental change lying in a different conception of salvation, purgatory, and the associated activities of those surviving the deceased. The purpose of this study is above all to...

Non Emergency Medical Transport
Černý, Jiří ; Haškovcová, Helena (advisor) ; Slabý, Marek (referee)
The topic of this work is non emergency ambulance service ( i.e. transport of wounded and/or sick persons). The theoretical part is devoted to the history of medical transportation services from ancient times to the present both in the world and the Czech Republic. An historical overview is supplemented by information on the development of technical means of ambulance services. The other part is a description of existing systems of ambulance services, particularly the transfer of patients from home to the place of medical care and back or, as the case may be, between health centres in selected countries of the world. In the practical part of diploma work the results of a qualitative research are published. In the first half of 2008 the Czech Ministry of Health published its design of services to be paid by patients- among others - also some transport services. The Ministry included this proposal in the framework of health care reform. The topic of research was to determine the readiness of patients to a significant co-payment (deductibles) for medical transportation costs. A hypothesis was initially established that patients in the Czech Republic were not ready for to the substantial co-payments (deductible coverage) of the costs. The research has confirmed the hypothesis. The work is accompanied by...

By means of comparing the structures of these ceremonies it attempts to find what they have in common as well as what makes them distinctively different in terms of liturgy and theological teaching. It examines the theme of death, after-life conceptions, and funeral ceremonies in life of ancient people and European pagans, Jewish tradition and culture of Middle ages. It also covers the area of the last things of a man and resurrection matter as far as it is mentioned in liturgical books. Cultural dimensions of alcohol
Guha, Alexandr ; Soukup, Martin (referee) ; Soukup, Václav (advisor)
The thesis Cultural Dimensions of Alcohol is concerned with the relationship between alcohol and culture viewed from three aspects. The first chapter traces back the alcohol as a culturally important matter in the course of history. The significant historical eras and events are reinterpreted from the viewpoint of the relation with alcohol. Firstly, it focuses chronologically on the basic cultural functions of alcohol (simultaneously wine, beer and mead) in the period of Neolithic revolution and in the most important ancient civilizations. Further, it describes the role of alcohol in the Middle Ages from the standpoint of Christianity and ecclesiastical reformation. The remaining part is dedicated to the invention and distribution of distillation, the cultural and social consequences, which the innovation produced, and subsequent prohibitory attempts. The conclusion of the chapter confronts earlier and actual viewpoints of alcoholism. In the culturally anthropological part of the thesis the alcohol is embodied in the global scene of psychoactive substances whose ceremonial use is understood as a cultural universal. The thesis discloses the anthropologically paramount position of alcohol in the scope of this drug context. The detailed diffusion of a structural model of culinary techniques with the...
