The Macroeconomic Impacts of the Selected Oil Shocks in the United States of America
Šikulová, Markéta ; Johnson, Zdenka (advisor) ; Tajovský, Ladislav (referee)
The aim of this study is to analyze macroeconomic impacts of four selected oil shocks on the United States economy and their subsequent comparison. The first part of this study deals with the theoretical background of supply shock, its influence on the economy, and the possible responses of economic policy. Furthermore, in the first part I focus on the historical events that led to the oil crisis, specifically on the OPEC oil embargo imposed on the United States, production cuts caused by the Iranian revolution, Iran-Iraq War and Persian Gulf War and on the demand as well as the supply factors that led to the oil shock of 2007-2008. The second part of this study presents the specific impacts of four selected oil shocks on the US economy and their comparison. Based on the findings, it was possible to confirm the hypothesis saying that past oil shocks, especially those that took place in the 1970's, had more negative impacts on the United States economy in comparison with those that happened more recently. In other words, that the effects of changes in oil prices have lessened over time. There are many reasons of this moderation, but the most important ones include more effective monetary policy response, the decrease in wage rigidities, and more recently also the decline of United States dependency on imported oil.

Suchá, Tereza ; Blažek, Jiří (advisor) ; Ženka, Jan (referee)
The presented thesis deals with the position of the Czech electronic industry in global production network. The goal of this work was to determine whether the suppliers of the Czech electronic industry are involved in global production network and if so to assess the nature and the form of this involvement. The partial goal of this work was also to evaluate if there are common features of geographic concentration of the Czech electronic industry in the past and the present. The analysis was based on information for individual companies from Amadeus database and other sources. The result of conducted analyzes was a finding that there are two types of companies in Czech economy: independent and involved in global production network. From the companies involved in global production network the most of them can be found on the lowest positions in the network and therefore ocuppying the less favorable position. Despite these not very hopeful results we can see that for the companies on the position of the 3rd grade there was identified inter-sectoral upgrading even though in a limited degree. The common features of geographic concentration of the Czech electronic industry in the past and the present were also confirmed. Key words: global production network, electronic industry, upgrading, tiered structure

Press is a part of mass communication providing the public with information and symbolic contents. It always reflects the supposed interest of the public in concrete problems and it mediates social control of the institutions which are responsible for the particular spheres. On the basis of the content analysis of the regional press in South Bohemia we can state that citizens do not perceive the problem of public greenery as urgent and thus this topic is not very frequent in the media. People mainly observe if public greenery is in good shape. The number of organisms to be encountered in urban environment by greenery users is not large according to the press.

Jansa, Jiří ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (advisor) ; Havránek, Tomáš (referee)
Market efficiency and existence of profitable strategy are the most frequent analysis in the research concerning betting on sport events. This thesis covers both these topics on the dataset (20 betting offices) of Czech ice-hockey league from 2004 to 2010. The theoretical part presents development of models of individual decision-making under risk and uncertainty, models of equilibrium on the betting market and several definitions of market efficiency (Fama and Sauer as authors of these concepts) on these markets. The statistical part is testing difference in margins of betting companies for 3 possible outcomes of game, convergence in quoted odds across betting offices, arbitrage opportunity and correspondence of quoted odds to the real probabilities (linear and non- linear). Simple model of perfect market might be by all these tests rejected, since there is no constant return from betting on all outcomes, betting offices differ in margins, quoted odds do not correspond to the real probabilities and arbitrage opportunity is not disappearing. Second empirical part is devoted to the search for profitable strategy. Using 14 explanatory variables and various statistical methods (linear probability model, logit model, multinomial logit model), author is trying to beat bias in odds and find long-term profitable bet- ting...

Transfer of dangerous substances in connection with safety at road traffic
SANDOROVÁ, Radka
The carriage of dangerous goods by road abides mainly by the European Agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by road `ADR{\crq}. The agreement was accepted by advanced countries in 1957 and The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic joined it in 1986, the Czech Republic became the full-fledged member on 1st January 1993 as a succesor of the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Despite the fact that the development of industry has brought many products that we cannot imagine the existence of the modern society without, on the other hand, the integral part of them is production of dangerous goods, which brings a danger associated with their manufacture, storage, usage and transportation. On this account it is necessary to use all means to decrease potential hazards of a rise of accidents of vehicles transporting dangerous goods, which brings the biggest hazards to people{\crq}s health, their possession and ecological environment. As statistics show, one of the main agents of a rise of accidents is human failure. Even the most perfect regulations cannot avoid these or other hazards that menace whilst carrying dangerous goods. Though my effort was to refer to essential and the most important parts of the ADR agreement concerning the carriage of dangerous goods, to highlight the importance of exercising control over observing the regulations. Moreover, I wanted to point to the direct dependence of successful managing of solving uncommon situations on cooperation and instantiation of powers of all components of Integrated emergency system, and at the same time through a particular example from practice to mention the need of actualization of individual type plans and subsequent presentation of newly used methods and observations from solving crises situations and with them connected introduction of new ways of preparation for their solutions.
