Effective dashboard design in the analytical tasks of IS
Janeczková, Agata ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with analysing and designing an effective dashboard. By way of introduction the topics of Business Intelligence, data storages and data quality are described. Then, an overview of analytical outputs is given and the process of their formation is outlined. The basic principles of an effective design of management reports are described, with emphasis laid on the end user. The thesis focuses on important factors of efficiency, such as applicability of transferred information and the form of their transfer. The practical part concentrates on the improvement of the efficiency of a particular dashboard. Besides the rules of a correct design, knowledge of cognitive psychology is also used for this purpose. Upon an analysis of deficiencies of an existing dashboard, proposed changes are incorporated. Changes resulting in more effective transfer of information via a dashboard are based on a theoretical basis of the previous section.

Internal equity principle in the context of company strategy
Kopecký, Martin ; Nový, Ivan (advisor) ; Háša, Stanislav (referee) ; Blažek, Ladislav (referee)
The thesis deals with the scientific problem of the link between the strategic management and the compensation system using the principle of internal equity. The work is based on two pillars, namely the qualitative research and own proposed solution. The first part of the thesis describes the qualitative research and the possibilities and the synergistic effects of linking business strategy and compensation system. The qualitative research is performed as a multi-case study and investigates the phenomenon in the practice of three companies from various markets (the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bosnia and Hercegovina) and industries (finance, IT/Telco and FMCG). The research tries to find answers to the four research questions: How does business strategy influence compensation process? How can compensation support the realization of a business strategy? How can business strategy be linked with a compensation system within the principle of internal equity? How can compensation reinforce the strategic function of the human resources management? The research is based on the study of theoretical sources as well as on practical fieldwork. The qualitative research itself uses qualitative research methods for data collection, such as observations, questionnaires, and document analysis. The population questioned was top managers, line managers and representatives of HR department. In total, 142 interviews were performed by a single person. The collected data were analyzed and the triangulation was applied. The findings were summarized and generalized into a final report that brings answers to the research questions above. The research brings valuable findings used in the second, design part of the thesis. The own proposed solution consists of two main models. The first one is a simplified scheme of the compensation system and the second one is a model of strategic segmentation of jobs. The first model could be used successfully in the business practice as well as in education. The second model of the strategic job segmentation brings answer to the question of synergistic linking of business strategy and the compensation system within the principle of internal equity. The model brings valuable findings and a foundation for further theoretical research and its further development. The model also brings practical solution to the design of related policies and processes in the strategic management of human resources. By the design of both proposed models the main objectives of the thesis were achieved.

Demonstrate the principles of application development for Android on the example of a simple game
Tatoušek, Petr ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Oraný, Vladimír (referee)
Demonstration of the Android application development principles explained on a simple game is a thesis describing in it's theoretical part Android OS. It also briefly describes it's history and especially it's architecture emphasizing on my thesis' part relevant to the practi-cal part of my dissertation. It also focuses on the general applications' architecture princi-ples for this operating system. In the practical part of the thesis I tend to describe the application development principles for Android OS. This is achieved on an sample application. This sample application is an implementation of a text-based adventure game in the Java language. It uses SQLite data-base for storing the game data. There is a game framework which enables entering diffe-rent game data to the database and thus playing different games with divergent game plays.

This dissertation is supposed to bring a complete picture of Verdi’s opera production pointing out some details which are not commonly known nor from the public nor in the professional music world. What appears in this work is Verdi’s correspondence (letters). I consider these letters an authentic source to understand Verdi’s creative and artistic intentions. Hereafter I portray an idea of how to perceive opera Falstaff not only from my point of view but I used the lead from the Italian reviews and musicology.

Selected risks in nursing practice
HLADÍKOVÁ, Šárka
Current state: High percentage of risk is associated with providing medical care and therefore it may harm both the patient and the nursing staff (Drahoš, 2007). Objectives: To assess the most frequent risks in nursing care that may harm patients during their hospitalization. Furthermore, the aim is to find out whether the occurrence of these risks changes depending on the type of care provided and also whether the nurses' understanding of the principles of administration of oral medication is affected by the length of their work experience. Methods: The empirical part of this thesis was based on the quantitative research study - data collection method via structured questionnaires. The study was then supplemented by observation of nurses using the audit technique. The research group-participants: The questionnaire was designed for general nurses working in selected wards of Ceske Budejovice Hospital, plc. During the Semester-in-Practice Externship, six nurses in 'The administration of oral medication'audit. Results: The result of the aritmetic mean, results in the nurses stating the risk of fall in patients as the highest risk (3,56), risk of medication error (3.01). According to the addressed nurses from the internal department, the following risks belong to the group of the most significant risks to the patients of the internal department- risk of injury to the patient during hospitalization, risk of nosocomial infection, risk of falls in patient and risk of immobilization syndrome. According to the questionnaire research results, some differences were shown in the knowledge of principles of safe administration of oral medication in connection with the length of work experience of the addressed nurses. Nurses with the longest practise (over 11years) most frequently chose the correct answer in the following parts: expired drug usage and checks, medical refrigeration temperature, preparation and disposal of left-over medication, how to care for tablet splitter, correct action taken when a patient refuses to take medication and filling in the daily medication report. On the other hand, nurses with practise of 5-10 years more often correctly answered questions regarding drug administration system, safe usage of medical trolley cart and optimum storage conditions in medicine fridge. Nurses with the shortest work experience (under 5 years) proved to have the weakest knowledge of administration of oral medication. A conclusion that can be drawn from the audit results is as follows: the most common errors committed by the nurses are usage of generic drugs, lack of hand disinfection, touching medication with bare hands, preparation of meds in corridors instead of at the patient's hospital bed and incorrect drug disposal when the left-over tablets were put back in the packet. Conclusion: From the statistically significant connection between the probability of the risk and the department (type of care), it came to light that risk of injury to patients during their hospitalization, risk of nosocomial infection, risk of falls in patient, risk of immobilization syndrome and risk of aggressive behaviour are more common risks in internal wards rather than in surgical wards. Nurses with work experience over 11 years proved to have the best knowledge of principles of safe administration of oral medication. The audit proved that despite their good knowledge of safe drug administration procedures, the nurses do not always follow these in the workplace. My thesis is a proposal for standard care procedure 'administration of oral medication'.
