Analysis of the keys to the maps of thematic atlases
Hamáčková, Martina ; Bartoněk, Dalibor (referee) ; Plánka, Ladislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis is occupied with analysis of the keys to the maps of Landscape Atlas of the Czech Republic and the Landscape Atlas of the Slovak Republic with emphasis on their mutual comparison. This thesis based on the published general theoretical principles of cartographic production. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter that engages in the key in detail, its types, procedures, etc. Then come critical analysis and classification keys to the maps of Landscape Atlas of the CR and subsequent comparison with Landscape Atlas of the SR using objective cartographic criteria. There is observed mainly the overall clarity, completeness, graphical representation and last but not least the overall look of the keys.
Symbols in the European cartographic work with topographic content
Šafránková, Tereza ; Bartoněk, Dalibor (referee) ; Plánka, Ladislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the exploration and comparison of symbol keys used for official maps of European countries. The theoretical part deals mainly with legends and cartographic symbols as a key element of the thesis. Then an assessment of available symbol systems and comparison of map symbols used in symbol systems for the official map of the Czech Republic is made. In the conclusion there is drawn proposal for symbol system applicable to maps of all European countries.
Existing state-of-the art and development tendencies of methods and technologies in the field of aircraft movement control along aerodrome surface
Zubrvalčík, Jan ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Vosecký, Slavomír (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with navigation on airport surface. In thesis there are described main surveillance systems, which are used for navigation on airport surface and systems for prediction and avoiding collisions. For all systems is listed principle of action, their usage, advantages and disadvantages and informations, which are provided by these systems. In last chapter there are compared properties of main surveillance systems.

Live typeface
Jiříček, Milan ; Špiřík, Jan (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
The work describes the theoretical foundations of modern methods of creating new fonts, that is, using information technology, specifically vector programs. It also marginally shows the history of the font, Roman writing, the basic division of its compositions and describes its individual elements. The next part of the project focuses on creating digital fonts and continues with bringing it to live using algorithms and methods that can easily be processed in Matlab programming language. The method of implementation of the bringing the typeface to live is described and presentation of the generated results are then shown in few examples. Attention is also paid to the coordinates system, which is very important to solve geometric transformations, and two-dimensional vector graphics, which are widely used in the design and to render the fonts. Bézier curves and cubic Bézier curves are described in further detail along with vector graphics rasterization. One part of this text describes very important de Casteljau algorithm. The last chapter focuses on implementation in Matlab programming language, the creation of curves, that means single font characters, and the ways of how the algorithm works with transformations. Some sample images showing transformations using different input arguments are displayed in this section as well. There is evaluation of the contribution of this application and the possibilities of further expansion at the end.

Food as Representation: Multimodal Analysis of Food Photos on Czech Instagram
Peschková, Jana ; Váša, Ondřej (advisor) ; Marcelli, Miroslav (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate how food can function as a sign, how it can represent certain values and what connotations can be associated with it. Food is currently a widespread phenomenon that acquires other meanings in addition to its basic biological function. This thesis will focus on investigating how food works within culture and what connotations are associated with it. The analysis is focused on photos of Czech food bloggers. Photos shared on social networks contain more layers of meaning than is apparent at first glance. The thesis is based on visual analysis, it focuses on individual signs, but also on the contradictions that arise as a result of their use. The thesis examines representation, which is why a parallel with the tradition of depicting food in still life is also included here. Other attributes examined in terms of food are the connection with leisure time, social status and gender. The first part of the thesis is devoted to food as a symbol and its placement in the various areas of culture. The central part of the thesis is the analysis. The default method is multimodal analysis of Instagram accounts. The thesis focuses on the Czech environment. Despite the fact that the analysis is based on photos, the context is also taken into account, i.e. the author of the...
the essence of photography in the digital age
Doubek, Zdeněk ; Holeček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Váša, Ondřej (referee)
The diploma thesis solves the question of photography not only from the point of view of a work of art, but as a part of a cultural code. Photography in the digital era has the potential to become a new kind of visual language. From this perspective, the photographic universe reveals several essential questions, which we address here. These questions explore topics such as: historical development of images and text, the difference between traditional images and technical images, the cultural impact of mass production of digital devices and photographs, the essence of photography as a symbol from the point of view of semiotics and logic, the difficulties of deciphering photography, the linguistic aspects of digital photography or the meaning of photography in virtual (public) space. Due to the nature of the monitored topics, the work will address problems mainly related to language, logic, epistemology, human freedom in the context of man/device and marginally also semiotics.

Gerstnerová, Dominika ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Halada, Jan (referee)
During the 20th century, film became a social phenomenon. Because of this reason it did not take long and also politicians started to use the film industry to influence public opinion. Above all, the history of totalitarian regimes proves that films have served them as a very powerful tool for fulfilling their propaganda goals. This diploma thesis deals with Nazi film propaganda during the Second World War, specifically the influence of Nazi propaganda on Czech feature film in the occupied Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Because of the fact that Nazi ideology was based on tense nationalism and racial purity which required a broad base for its support and maintenance of power, propaganda was of great importance The aim of this work is thus to find and define Nazi propaganda communication goals in Czech feature film and to identify specific tactics through which these goals should be fulfilled. The basis for researching this issue are the films Kristián (1939), Tulák Macoun (1939), Pro kamaráda (1940), Těžký život dobrodruha (1941), Jan Cimbura (1941) and Prstýnek (1944), which cover various genres and topics and at the same time cover different protectorate periods. The topic of propaganda is viewed in the context of strategic communication as related and in today's scale also superior...
