Further professional education and development of managers in construction

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of further professional education and development of managers in the field of construction. Based on the analysis of the specifics of managerial work in this sector, an educational (development) program reflecting foreign trends will be designed. The key professional competencies of managers with an emphasis on controlling in construction (costs, planning, reporting, financial management, strategy, risk management and change management) and resource management will be modeled. The task of managers is to identify such resources, incl. talented workers. Art is then able to use these precious resources, which are difficult to imitate and substitute, effectively. The resource-based approach emphasizes, like human capital theory, that investing in people increases an individual's value to the organization. This is related to the assumption that a company achieves lasting prosperity and competitive advantage when it has top specialists who cannot be easily acquired or replaced by competitors. High school graduates can also be counted among the potential sources. Working with them is currently necessary, as it is one of the options for recruiting new workers, which is in short supply on the labor market. Benefit analysis of employee management and development by competencies

The paper presents the benefits of employee management and development by competencies. The work has a theoretical and empirical character and it is dividend into six parts. The first two parts focus on the theories of an organizational strategy and the concepts of the competency approach in HR management and development in general. The practical application of the organizational strategy and competency approach in HR processes of an international company Cemex is critically observed in the third and fourth part. The analysis conducted on the basis of a "focus groups" among managers of Cemex constitutes the fifth part of this paper. The purpose of this analysis is to objectify the benefits of competency approach of the management and development in this organization. The sixth part summarizes the conclusions of the paper. Bachelor thesis is about: Proposal of education and development of managers in a specific company. Its goal is to propose an effective system of development and education of managers in company OKTE, a.s., which will be used as a base for the development and education plan. The thesis is divided in five chapters. First two chapters are theoretical chapters. The first one describes who is a manager and which requirements are put on him. The second chapter is dedicated to specific phases of the system of development and education of employees and specific methods of development and education. The last two chapters are targeted on a specific company. In the fourth chapter are the characteristics of the company OKTE, a.s. and the analysis of current situation of development and education of managers. The last chapter describes the specific proposal of development and education of managers which consists of four phases: identification of needs, planning, realization and evaluation.
