The multifunctional object Malá Amerika
Čamborová, Tereza ; Obrtlík, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is to design a multifunctional building in the very center of Brno. The proposal involves working with a corner plot surrounded by urban structured development with historical buildings. The massing solution responds to the height articulation of adjacent structures to create clear views of the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral and the adjacent object, Little America. The partially nine-story corner building concludes the street line and serves as an orienting element in the city while also acting as a noise barrier. The low four-story building closes the gap and, in terms of height, connects Little America with the newly formed public space between the buildings in a quieter environment.
Gallery of Modern Art in Brno
Knipiglová, Nina ; Doležal, Ondřej (referee) ; Novák, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis focuses on the design of a modern art gallery located in the city district of Brno-Center. The plot, with an elevation ranging from 205.200 to 207.100 meters above sea level, features an irregular layout. While the central location is advantageous, nearby roadways contribute to the noise in the local environment. The structure, consisting of five floors with two underground and three above-ground levels, is designed in accordance with the city's plan for mixed-use areas, taking into consideration the planned circular park. The main entrance is located on the first floor on the western side, featuring a large entrance hall, a café, a library, and office spaces. The second and third floors are designated for exhibition spaces, supplemented by rentable studio areas. The underground sections include double-decker garages and supply rooms. The design concept responds to the surroundings; the building's break follows the street line in the Kolište section, and the northern façade is parallel to the city hall. The building's façade is visually divided. The first above-ground floor is glazed with white plaster, while the other above-ground levels are covered with aluminum panels. The objective of the project is to integrate into the urban environment and provide a space that supports cultural and social activities in Brno-Center.
city dodgyness
Vasková, Dominika ; Kocián, Václav (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis "Ošemetnosti mesta" is based on knowledge from the pre-diploma project, in which I got to know the life of homeless people and the places where they live. The work is focused on vague places in Bratislava and the subsequent design of temporary objects in these places. The objects and their function respond to the destigmatization of people in crisis situations who are exposed to falling into the spiral of poverty. They create impulses for a better grasp of these places and work with them, as well as the inclusion of socially excluded groups of people in society.
Brno Connectivity / Brno Democratic City
Ondrišák, Matej ; Žáčková, Iveta (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The conceptual-architectural design represents the restoration of the brownfield of wine cellars in Brno- Zábrdovice. It reflects on the possible use of the area, following the direction of the city’s philosophy in the improvement of dysfunctional, abandoned and neglected so-called vague places. It deals with the solution of the renewal of public space, the trend of urban interventions and brings to the owner a direct way of opening up the area of the currently unused space above the wine cellars. The restoration proposal responds to the historical context of the area, the continuity of the environment. Its main role is to bring an attractive public space to the site, with the added value of opening up the wine cellars and the opportunity to create a natural setting for the site, and bringing the proverbial genius loci to the site. The second part of the conceptual-architectural design provides detailed procedures, use and discussion of the functional program of the different parts of the proposal. The analytical-volumetric reflection formed the basis for this, which resulted in the site program. By organizing programmes, the ideas of the functioning of the functional fillings and their deployment in synergy with each other, a primary space was created with the possibilities of their year-round, but also seasonal use.

Public spaces of the city of Brno - theoretical work
Lelkes, Ivana ; Adamková, Jana (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
Master´s thesis adresses the issue of public spaces of inner city of Brno. These spaces have good prerequisities to become attractive places for everyday use or for spending a good free time. These prerequsities include for example compact city structure, well defined public spaces, walking city distances, presence of public and commercial facilities and distinctive genius loci. But public spaces in these localities often do not fulfill their own potential and stay as average free space inbetween buildings. Thesis suggests a detailed system for categorisation of squares and streets in the inner city of Brno and examines the reasons for potential non-fulfillment on these typologies, it tries to find out the problems of public spaces and how they can be solved.
The City Into The Place
Kvaššay, Lukáš ; Horák, Radim (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The waterfronts of major rivers play an important role in the development of settlements. On the territory of Slovakia, however, there are many more small flows whose potential remains unused. It also includes the river Domanižanka, which forms one of the main urban axes of Považská Bystrica and is a significant element of the whole region. At present, it is designed for a flood flow with a trough recessed into supporting stone - concrete walls. In the built-up area of the city, this river flows through a diverse territory. In my diploma thesis I focus on six spaces with their own atmosphere and varying degrees of intimacy. These spaces lie along the flow on the busy line of the main city center with its local center at the SNP. To these spaces I assign a certain character, or, on the contrary, I support the existing one. I respect the existing values of places and I try to integrate their interventions into parts. The basis of the proposal is to create an adequate pedestrian and cycling link between these sites with regard to the quality of the individual stories of these places. Where water still represents the primary element of shared viability between nature and its inhabitants, humans. Water as a basic condition for the existence of life. Water as one of the elements, used to regenerate the body and the soul. To cleanse the city and the place.
Reservoirs - Brno, Zluty kopec (Yellow hill)
Murínová, Miriam ; Kolář, Vojtěch (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the proposal of new interventions within the area above the underground reservoirs in the area of the Žlutý kopec. Various urban structures, atmospheres and influences of surrounding, natural or urbanistic are encountered in the area. The place is unique for its location near the historic center of Brno, the potential of the green public priesthood within a built-up part of the city with a view of the city's landmark, Spilberk Castle. The aim of the work is to offer a dessign that responds to these impacts and links them in a design that complements existing underground reservoirs. It invites the inhabitants of the city, new visitors or tourists to regenerate body and soul, in the gallery or athletic center in the environment of reservoirs. The programme of the place offers both, the social space through a new cultural and visitor center but also soothing space in the form of a park.
Intenzive City House
Kundrák, Karol ; PhD, Iva Poslušná, (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis is the design of a city block on brownfield areas in the Trnitá district of Brno. The aim was to make the most out of the land, minimize motor traffic and create objects with different functions (housing, administration, amenities, services) will be mixed. The main part of the whole area will be the Ponávka river, which will take advantage of the great potential of the watercourse, thus creating a quality public space for recreation. The principles of multiplicity and porosity have been used to design - from the maximum land abandonment, the mass was gradually taken away to create apartment houses, administrative areas, a common parcel with civic amenities and a walkable green roofs.
