Determination of nitrates in vegetables by capillary izotachophoresis

This bachelor thesis deals with determination of nitrates in vegetables employing the capillary isotachophoresis technique. The literature review is devoted to occurrence of nitrates in vegetables, their health risks, the influence of food processing onto nitrate content, commonly used methods of determination as well as the capillary isotachophoresis and its practical application. Experimental part focuses on the application of capillary isotachophoresis for determination of nitrate content in vegetables obtained from conventional agriculture and organic farming.

Design of juicer

This bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis and afterwards design of a juicer. First part is devoted to an overview of the history of juicers then it continues in technical analysis of the product and further analysis of juicers available on the current market. Following chapters focus on my specific design proposal and the solutions it delivers. The output of the thesis is textual analysis, mock-up model and a poster.

Metody nanášení hydrogelů na povrch ovoce a zeleniny

The aim of this thesis was to develop a methodology for applying biopolymer mixtures directly onto the surface of selected fresh foods, fruits and vegetables, and to evaluate the prospects of biopolymer mixtures based on egg white. The theoretical part of this thesis outlines the issue of the packaging industry and the causes of food spoilage. Furthermore, methods for the application of biopolymeric coatings and films on a laboratory scale are described and natural polymers are summarized. In the experimental part of the thesis, the most suitable coating mixture was selected regarding the evaluation of strawberry and cucumber samples’ coating made of different biopolymeric mixtures. For this coating mixture, the samples of fruit and vegetable were subjected to analysis by near infrared spectroscopy.

Modeling the impacts of combined climate events on the growth, development and yield parameters of field thermophilic vegetables and oilseed rape in a decision support system in the field of agrotechnology transfer - DSSAT. This book will introduce you to the latest information technologies and their applications in agriculture, including decision support systems, crop simulation models and other computer tools. It should also help you to solve problems at the regional level on issues related to crop production and other issues related to agriculture, natural resource management and cropping systems and food security, as well as issues related to climate change and variability. This professional book offers users the appropriate supplementary material to enable them to continuously meet the demands of a changing climate. The book is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part summarizes basic information about simulations of crop production, water and nutrient management, climate risks and environmental sustainability. Fruits and vegetables as sources of fiber and minerals in the school systém.

From research on the effects of diet rich in vegetables and fruits comes convincing evidence of its benefits for human health and contribution to the prevention and fight against NCDs. Based on the knowledge about the importance of proper nutrition, efforts are being made to create suitable eating habits in children during the school attending period. The aim of this thesis is to find out whether the state of consumption of fruit and vegetables (2018-2020) in the practice of the school canteen corresponds to the nutritional standards. Another goal is to determine the average representation of fibre in one lunch among diners 7-14 years of age and to evaluate whether it corresponds to adequate intake according to EFSA. Using secondary analysis, data from collected consumption baskets at the selected school canteen were processed. Gathered values were statistically tested to evaluate the hypothesis of compliance or non-compliance with the norms.

Analysis of consumption and species representation of vegetables as sources of alimentary antioxidants in the system of school meals.

The topic of the submitted diploma thesis is the Analysis of consumption and species representation of vegetables as a source of alimentary antioxidants in the primary school pupils´ catering system of pupils and a proposal of a possibility of the limit indicators´ improvement. The task of this diploma thesis was to find out whether school canteens manage to successfully meet the standard of the consumer basket and nutritional standards set for school meals in the commodity of vegetables and to find out which types of vegetables are used the most in school canteens. The thesis contains two parts. The theoretical part describes the topics related to the school catering system through the history to the present days, school catering legislation, the nutritional values of catering in our country and brief characteristics of vegetables. The chapter Consumer Basket gets us acquainted with: nutritional standards for school catering, financial limits for the food purchase, compliance with the Consumer Basket nutritional recommendations and consumer basket´s compilation methods. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with various specifics of vegetables and the content of different kinds of vitamins and minerals. The practical part evaluates the results filling the consumer basket in the commodity of vegetables according to the standard focusing on school catering. The results examine the average vegetable content within one lunch. The results also review the actual and average daily consumption of vegetables.

Utilization vegetables in nutrition with a focus on school canteens.\\

The task of the diploma thesis is to deal with use of vegetables in nutrition, specializing in school canteen. The research group consists of primary school pupils, both first and second grade. The work is systematically divided into five parts. The theoretical part provides an overview of the types of vegetables used in school canteen its health benefits, as well as important vitamins and vitagens contained in this commodity and last but not least, the anti-nutritional components and hazardous substances contained in vegetables for school canteen. The conclusion of the theoretical part is devoted to legislation related to school meals. In the practical part, thanks to the analysis of consumer baskets, the use of vegetables in school canteen falling under selected primary school is evaluated. The result is detailed tables with graphs, from which we can trace certain fluctuations in vegetable consumption in individual months, the total annual consumption of vegetables and compliance with the recommended standards according to the Degree on School Catering 107/2005 Sb.

Selected elementary schools pupils' knowledge of fruits and vegetables and their importance to human health

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the importance of fruits and vegetables from the point of view of human health. In the first part, the chapters deal with the division of fruits and vegetables into groups and the importance of specific fruits and vegetables. Other chapters deal with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which are abundant in fruit and vegetables. The "Ovoce a zelenina do škol" project is also an integral part. In the last part of the theoretical part, thematic plans of elementary school Bratří Venclíků are discussed, specifically the topics related to fruits and vegetables. The practical part is based on the results of a quantitative survey in the form of a questionnaire, which focused on pupils' knowledge of fruits and vegetables and their importance for human health. The research was carried out at two primary schools in Prague, namely Bratří Venclíků Primary School and Campanus Primary School. Some of the questions are focused on the popularity of fruit and vegetables among pupils, and some questions are in the form of tests about the knowledge of vitamins, minerals, fiber, alternative nutrition and other topics related to fruits and vegetables. Consumption of fruits and vegetables among pupils of younger and older school age in Milovice

The aim of this bachelor thesis paper was to investigate the overall awareness of pupils from the 3rd - 5th grade from a selected primary school in Milovice. The secondary objectives monitored whether fruit and vegetables are a daily part of the target group's diet, at the same time whether the pupils actually eat fruit and vegetables received during recess and lunch breaks. Another research goal was to address the benefits of Fruit and Vegetables in schools project. The theoretical part is devoted to healthy nutrition. It describes the functions of the main nutrients, there is emphasis on accessory nutrients, especially on vitamins, fibers and antioxidants, which emphasizes the necessity of eating fruit and vegetables. Part of the theoretical part is also the issue of nutrition of children and the short discussion on the project Fruit and Vegetables in Schools. At the same time, a chapter on the digestive tract has been included, as it is here that digestion and absorption of substances from food occurs.
