The Influence of English on the German Language

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the occurrence of English language borrowings in contemporary German. In recent years, English has strongly influenced the lexical vocabulary of many languages, not excluding German. The task of this thesis is to find both similarities and differences in the process of adoption of anglicisms by the German language. Linguistic elements of English already fall into the lexicon of German speakers, and it is among the younger generation that they are exceedingly popular. The theoretical part will focus on the term anglicism, the history of anglicisms, their impact and penetration into the German language. Attention will also be paid to the formal adaptation of English loanwords in German and their place in contemporary communication. The practical part of this thesis aims to map the relationship of young people in particular to anglicisms. At the same time, it tries to find out what influence English borrowings have on German vocabulary.
Arabisms in the Present-Day French

The thesis Arabisms in the Present-Day French deals with loanwords from the Arabic language in contemporary French. It is divided into theoretical and practical part. The first part defines the concept of Arabisms and describes the issue of borrowing in more detail. It deals with the circumstances of the adoption of Arabisms into French and also with the modification mechanisms for their integration. The second part consists in corpus research, which aims to evaluate the occurrence of French slang expressions of Arabic origin in contemporary French.
Neologisms in social networks

The presented master´s thesis is focused on the analysis of neologisms that can be found in social networks. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the origin of neologisms with respect to their formal adaptation and onomasiological aspects primarily. The thesis consists of theoretical chapters dealing with neology and onomasiology as well as processes of formal and phonological adaptation. The theoretical knowledge is later applied in the practical part which is comprised of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of formal and onomasiological aspects found in concrete neologisms. The results of such analyses are stated both in the final summary and in the conclusion of this master´s thesis which is followed by Spanish resumé. The master´s thesis is written in Czech.
Romance influence on English Wordstock

Title of the bachelor thesis: Romance Influence on the English Wordstock Key words: History of English, borrowing, loan word, lexicalization, language acquisition, second language, language interference. Abstract The bachelor thesis Romance Influence on the English Wordstock is concerned with the Romance impacts on English, which is most noticeable in its wordstock, and simultaneously it tries to find out what the awareness of learners of English of these influences is. The practical part is based on research in the form of a questionnaire which was distributed among English students of the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague and which consists of four exercises where various Romance specifics can be found. The research revealed that students do not have a particular cognizance of Romance influence but it showed that the longer the students study English, the fewer problems they have with the words coming from Romance languages. It also studied whether students who know the French or Latin language have an advantage when acquiring the English vocabulary. The result affirms that these people may profit from their knowledge when learning English expressions similar to the French ones but they should already be confident in the language, otherwise the superficial knowledge of it can...
Words of a German origin in Russian

This diploma thesis is concerned with the theme of adopted German words in Russian language. While working on my thesis I used method of excerption words from the dictionary of foreign words. In accordance with this method, I was able to find more than 700 words which I finally processed from different linguistic perspectives. In theoretic part of my diploma thesis I was concerning possibility of word adoption, types of adopted words, adoptions from foreign languages and history of word adoption from German language to Russian language. In practical part, I was concerning with phonetic, orthographic, morphological, word-forming and stylistic aspect of adopted German words. The last chapter is devoted to the semantic characteristics of loanwords and their division into thematic categories. The list of all excerpted words in Russian and also their Czech translation is included in the annexe.

Usufructuary right of building and other ways of erecting house on the land of another The purpose of this thesis is to analyse comprehensively the institute of usufructuary right of building and other ways of erecting house on the land of another. Other legal institutes that can be used to set up home on a foreign land are easements, lease, usufructuary lease, precarious loan and loan for use. The Civil Code, after more than sixty years, is returning to the superficial principle, with which is the usufructuary right of building inherently connected and which represents an exception from that principle. Thesis is divided into four parts. The largest is the first part, which deals with the usufructuary right of building. The second part is devoted to other institutes, which enable the establishment of a house on a foreign land. The third part is the comparison of the usufructuary right of building with other institutes. The fourth part focuses on the usufructuary right of building legislation abroad. The focus of this thesis is in the first part, which consists of nine chapters. The first chapter defines the basic concepts and institutes related to the usufructuary right of building. The influence of the Galician language on the Castilian language - interferences and borrowings

As the name suggests, the main theme of the present work is the influence the Galician language has on the Spanish language system. In more detail the work also deals with specific phenomens which penetrate into the Castilian language spoken in Galicia creating a new variety of Spanish, which is typical for given region. In addition to the aforementioned aspects, we encounter in this work the matter of the influence Spanish has on Galician and we also discuss some theoretical questions. The work addresses such problems as definition of language and dialect, matters of diglossia and bilingualism and explanation of some linguistic terms, e.g. interference and integration.

English loan words in contemporary Italian - selected semantic field

This Bachelor thesis deals with Anglicisms which occur in Italian newspaper articles from the economic area. The thesis is especially concentrating on last sixty years when the influence of the English language is notably growing in the Italian language. The work is divided into two main parts. The first part is theoretical and concerns the division of the loan word and the explanation of the word ?Anglicism? and gives insight into historical background that refer to this term. The second part concerns own research in which two samples from the same period are analyzed but they are from different years, first is from 2010 and second is from one year later. The extracted samples are researched according to the various criteria and compared if they have something in common. I will dedicate to the Anglicism from last sixty years thoroughly. The aim of this thesis is to confirm the real presence of the Anglicism in the Italian press, to show the permanent influx of new Anglicism and the popularity of their usage in the comparison with the Italian equivalents.
