The diploma thesis deals with the pension reform and the pension system in the Czech Republic. The paper explains fundamental terms in the field and explains their function. The main aim of the thesis is a definition and risk analysis of individual parts of the pension system. The secondary aim is guidance how to use each of the parts of the system.
Standing of the Court of Justice of the EU in the Area of the Police and Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters

5 Abstract This dissertation examines the standing of the Court of Justice of the European Union in the area of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters, which was formally included under the umbrella of the European Union as a result of the Maastricht Treaty in the early nineties. Yet this area was excluded from the Community framework, which had a significant impact on the jurisdiction and competencies of the Court of Justice. Despite limitations arising from the construct of the third pillar, the Court of Justice took an opportunity through case law to overcome some of these limitations. The most recent milestone in the development of this area is the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty which removed the so-called pillar structure and further limitations disappeared with the end of the transitional period. Further, existing case law of the Court of Justice in this area has been closely linked to the framework decision on the European arrest warrant, which is based upon the principle of mutual recognition and mutual trust between the EU Member States, and thus became an important part of the case law of the Court of Justice. Comparative Analysis of Pension Companies that are Involved in the Additional Pension Savings in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis concerned with the current situation on the market of additional pension savings in the Czech Republic that has undergone significant changes as a result of the latest pension reform. The thesis primarily aims to draw a comparison of individual pension companies. The introductory part of the bachelor thesis contains a brief description of the czech pension systém, while the vast majority of the thesis is focused on the third pillar of additional pension savings. All essential basic characteristics concerning legislation, history, number of participants, the claims of participants, state contributions and changes since 2013 are specified and analysed. The core of the thesis is a the comparison of individual pension companies according to the number of participants, results of management, structure of investments, the volume of managed assets, equity, capital adequacy and especially achieved appreciation.The conclusion of thesis, based on the knowledge acquired, provides an assessment of transformed funds.
Cultural diplomacy of Canada

In current era of globalization when cultural diplomacy became one of the inherent tools of "soft power" of a foreign policy, it is relevant to research on the place of cultural diplomacy in foreign policy portfolio of nation-states. The focus of this thesis is to evaluate the attitudes of the Canadian government towards cultural diplomacy from 1990s until today. In 1995, Canadian values and culture became one of the three pillars of Canadian foreign policy. The author therefore attempted to map whether cultural diplomacy became a coherent and strategic tool of the Canadian foreign policy during this era. By analyzing the tools of the Canadian cultural diplomacy of the Liberal governments of Jean Chretien, Paul Martin and the present Conservative government of Stephen Harper, the author seeks to answer whether we are witnessing a gradual eclipse of cultural diplomacy as a means of soft power under the Harper administration. The research of government documents and cultural diplomacy programs along with the analysis of interviews with important government officials suggest that the cultural diplomacy was not practiced as a strategic tool in foreign policy management until the third election term of Jean Chretien in the year of 2000. Efficiency of state subsidies on savings of residents of the Czech Republic since 1993

The subject of this bachelors thesis is finding effect of state aid on building savings and the effect of state support on pension insurance or additional pension savings. The thesis focuses first on development and overview of changes in legislation that influence people in their decisions about founding or termination of treaty. The main part of thesis is aiming on amount of state support or aid and reaction of participator to changes in both mentioned savings products which has thesis been able to prove managed by regression analysis. This effect can also be seen in the statistics, which are compared in this thesis. The end of thesis is pointing out other possible influences that effects people in decision about their contract and the possible future development of building savings and additional pension insurance in the Czech Republic.
Pension systems of the Visegrad countries with the focus on 2nd and 3rd pillar.

The first pillar of the pension system in the Czech Republic is loss-making in the long term. The population gets older which results in an increase of the pension budget deficit. The thesis elaborates that the population should no more depend on the government in pensionable age. The bachelor thesis further focuses on the analysis of the second and third pillar profitability as well as on analysis of to what extent the government should intervene in these pillars. The author provides comprehensive overview of pension systems in countries of the Visegrad Group, and reveals the correlation between their profitability and governmental interventions. Furthermore, the thesis compares attitude of particular governments towards the pension system pillars, and summarizes their advantages and drawbacks for the Czech population.
Pension funds and pension reform in the Czech Republic

This thesis analyzes the current status of pension funds in the Czech Republic, the subsequent transformation of the pension companies and the situation after the introduction of the second pillar. It examined the merits of a new pillar in the small benefit to future participants and the impact on the state budget. The main result is to propose a solution that would be more beneficial for participants and fulfill the requirement for a balanced fiscal policy. The presented work uses descriptive and comparative analysis of the current position of pension funds. Description of the reform of the pension system is based on legislative analysis and secondary analysis of published literature. In the design of solutions are used in mathematical statistical methods, comparative analysis and questionnaire method.
