Teachers Preparedness to Work with Gifted Pupils

This thesis deals with the preparation of early career teachers to work with gifted and exceptionally gifted pupils in primary schools. The aim of the research is to find out how early career teachers are prepared for the education of gifted pupils. The theoretical part describes the issues of gifted and exceptionally gifted pupils in the context of undergraduate teacher education. The theoretical part defines examples related to good practice from abroad. In the theoretical part there are included the possibilities of further education of teachers in this area. In the empirical part of the thesis, the research problem was first set and addressed using a qualitative approach. The design of the research was a case study. The research sample consisted of six respondents. The data collection was carried out through six semi-structured interviews with respondents aged 23 to 27 years and content analysis of the data, which examined the documents of the study programmes of the faculties of education of the universities where the respondents of this research had studied or were still studying. Prevention of injury and 1. assistence at primary school education

The thesis is focused on teaching first aid at the first level of primary school. I'm presenting the latest first aid methods in the theoretical part. Furthermore, the thesis deals with how first aid is thought of in the framework curriculum for primary education. There is also a mention of the skills of younger school age pupils from a developmental psychology perspective. It also discusses appropriate methods and form of teaching to help teachers in presenting first aid. The practical part of the thesis deals with the readiness and unreadiness of graduates of the Faculty of Education of Charles University to teach first aid. Through a questionnaire, I'm investigating whether students would welcome first aid teaching as a compulsory subject, and what they feel insecure about when teaching first aid. I also suggest a week-long thematic lecture and proven methods and forms of work. The results of research are presented, evaluating whether students who have received thematic first aid instruction are more likely to remember and be able to administer first aid than students who have not participated. Training-college in České Budějovice from the beginning of Czechoslovak Republic to 1946

This thesis aims is to describe teacher training colleges in České Budějovice between the years 1918 and 1946. The work is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical and empirical part. The former describes the historical period as well as the history of education and teacher education. At that time there were four teacher training colleges focused on general education in České Budějovice: czech teacher training college, a german teacher training college, Teacher training college for Women by Congregation of the sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and Teacher training college for Women by Congregation of School Sisters de Notre Dame in the house called U Sv. Josefa. Each institution is presented, including the information about its establishment, location and system of education. There are no chronicles or reports preserved from the Teacher training college for Women by Congregation of School sisters de Notre Dame in the house called U. Sv. Josefa, therefore, there is not much information available. The empirical part of the thesis is concerned with the comparison of a typical school year at each institution. Additionally, it focuses on the school years 1918/1919 and 1938/1939, which are critical milestones for the history of Czechoslovakia. The numbers of male and female students are presented during the given period. All the data is summarized, compared and shown graphically.
Analysis of a beginning teacher and his common problems in an educational process

Thesis "Beginning teacher - analysis of his personality, work and the most common problems in his work" deals with the personality of a beginning teacher, mentions the most common problems in his work and tries to find ideas for improving the situation. As the same times in analyses the selected components of his personality, which usually participates the lack of attention, especially in preparing future teachers, and which usually not mentioned in proper context. It focuses primary on the professional competence of teachers in relation to the student's core competencies as well as in other contexts. It also discusses the role of novice teachers in the context of the transformation of the Czech education system and also in the context of the Lisbon process. Analyses of key documents are included too. Great attention is paid to think about the different problematic areas concerning the work of novices teachers. In this context, the author focuses on the matter of authority and educational styles. It is based not only on the special literature but also on the sound, which took the form of numerous interview, surveys, questionnaires and observation. This thesis deals with the preparatory education of Geography teachers at the Faculty of Science of Charles University and looks at it from many perspectives.The basis is the content analysis of study plans which are also evaluated through interviews with former graduates, now teachers of Geography. Furthermore, representatives of academic community were interviewed in order to present the current state and vison of preparatory education of Geography teachers at the Faculty of Science of Charles University. The aim of the thesis is to make a comprehensive study of open dialogue between students, graduates and academic staff, in order to characterize the current education of Geography teachers and to evaluate the outcome.
Reflective skills of trainee teachers of English language during their teaching practice: Case study

This thesis examines the reflection skills of student English teachers at the Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague during their teaching practice. The theoretical part introduces the reflective teaching model and looks into the phenomena of the teacher as reflective practitioner. The empirical part deals with the trainee teacher's reflection and methods, topics, depth and frequency. A significant part of the research also examines the influence of university employees (teacher mentors, supervisors, methodologists) as incentive supporters of the students' professional development regarding reflection. Comparison of selected problems of music teacher education in the Czech Republ ic and Austria

The objective of the dissertation thesis is to examine selected problems in the education of secondary level music teachers that influence their professional performance, in the context of current social and education policies of the Czech Republic and the Republic of Austria. The specific issues addressed are: career benefit system, professional standards of teachers, ageing of teachers' population, social and economic status of teachers and feminisation in schools. A comparative analysis of the university curricula for undergraduate music teacher training both in the Czech Republic and the Republic of Austria forms part of the dissertation thesis. The practical research part presents the results of the research questionnaire survey of opinions of the music education university students and graduate teachers on their university training, motivation to be a teacher and depicts their problems at the beginning of their teacher's career. In conclusion, the selected problems of music teacher education are viewed by university teachers and administration workers by means of semi- structured interviews.

The aim of the thesis is to reflect on the changes which have come with the implementation of the structured studies in teacher education programme in the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague and to present survey results about the opinions of both the students and the academic staff at the Department. In the theoretical part of the work the Bologna process is introduced - its goals, development and the reaction on its introduction in the Czech Republic. The concept of the teacher education from before the Bologna process is described. A comparison has been drawn to the teacher education programme in Germany.
