Gender aspects of tabacism by 9th grade elementary school pupils in the area of Most

This thesis is aimed at tabacism problems encountered by 9th grade elementary school pupils in the area of Most (Czech Republic). Comparison of gender aspect is accented. The primary target was to figure out the age of first experience with tobacco smoking and to investigate the subjective reasons leading to this act. The other domain of investigation was the attitude of adolescents to tobacco attractiveness and their tolerance to smoking of their future life partners. The thesis also compares my investigation results to studies related to the influence of smoking parents on their children's early experience with tobacco, and related to the manner in which are the elementary school children informed about tabacism issues. Some results of investigation are compared with existing research in the comments. The following facts were discovered - Adolescent girls smoke more than boys, and smoking parents have substantial influence on their children. The majority of children with smoking parents has more experience with tabacism than the children of non-smokers. The primary prevention in schools is performed as part of health education lessons, or similar subjects' lessons. TITLE: Evaluation of school-based prevention programme "Típni to I" AUTHOR: Marián Vanek DEPARTMENT: Department of Psychology SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Veronika Pavlas Martanová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with need assessment and formative outcome evaluation of school-based smoking prevention programme "Típni to I" which is designed for the pupils of 7th grade of elementary school. The main focus of evaluation was to obtain evidence of functional and nonfunctional parts of the programme with regards to needs of the target population and the KAB model. Combined qualitative-quantitative research design with participatory research paradigm was used. It is important to note that the author of the evaluation is at the same time member of the organization Česká koalice proti tabáku (ČKPT) which produces the evaluated programme. Self-made questionnaire, interviews with ČKPT lecturers and written products of the programme "Típni to I" were used to obtain empirical data. Questionnaire was assigned twice in experimental group (12 classes, 202 pupils), firstly before the programme implementation and then 2-3 weeks after realization of the prevention (pre-post design), no control group was used. Tabakismus pupils at sixth classes in selected primary schools in Litvinov ABSTRACT: The aim of this work is focused on the tobacco problems at pupils in 6th grade in primary schools in Litvinov. I'll try to find out if the number of this pupils who use tobacco products is alarming or if it is only in some cases. I focused on this age group because the puberty starts and also they come from first level to second level in primary schools. This work will be focused on how can these teenagers reach cigarettes, if there is an influence from Litvinov, where they live and meet their freinds, school, which they visit or from parents. The research will be conducted by the surveys. The researches on children and adolescents from a sphere of tabakism precede this survey, also a psychosomatic development and a prevention of this socially pathological behavior in primary schools. The Development of Czech Tobacco Advertising

The thesis studies the consumption of tobacco as a specific cultural phenomenon owing to the fact that since a tobacco plant has been brought to Europe; its use has spread over other continents and has rooted in many developed civilizations. From the theoretical standpoint, the thesis argues that as cultures are not constant entities, the same applies for public opinions regarding tobacco, from the firm belief that tobacco has positive effects on our health to the stigmatization of tobacco. The paper has four parts. First three parts discuss smoking in marketing communication and further identifies key topics; the final part presents the semiotic analysis of tobacco advertising from the selected periodicals printed (from newspapers and magazines) in the former Czechoslovakia from twenties to fifties of the twentieth century. The main objective is to specify both verbal and visual motives that ad makers used to use in order to create ideological implications of their ads (decoding symbols and interpretation of their meanings). Further, the thesis describes the former advertising style for tobacco products ( brands, targeting, products). Socio-Pathological Phenomena at Secondary Vocational School and Their Possible Solution

This diploma work named Socio-Pathological Phenomena at Secondary Vocational School and Their Possible Solution deals, in its theoretical part, with the basic terminology related with this topic. It also focuses on the risk behaviour among today's young people, and briefly introduces socio-pathological phenomena which occured at the surveyed secondary school in the last two years. It also describes other kinds of contemporary risk behaviour among young generation. At the end of theoretical part, there are introduced some of the current trends in school prevention and solution of socio-pathological phenomena. Period of adolescence is of course closely associated with this topic. It's called critical stage, and all the students pass this period during their secondary school attendance. That's why the chapter devoted to adolescence is elaborated in full details. Gender differences concerning appearance and intensity of socio-pathological phenomena are also mentioned here. Next, there is explained the system of primary prevention in The Czech Republic, the importace of family and school background, the impact of peers on personality development.
