Europe's strategy for Tech Security in the Era of Raw Critical Materials
Štěpánek, Vojtěch ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bureš, Oldřich (referee)
This diploma thesis is a single case study focusing on the European Union's approach to the issue of critical materials as a security concern. Critical raw materials will play an increasingly important role in Europe due to the ambitious Green Deal policy. The technologies necessary to address environmental challenges require a significant share of materials identified as critical in Europe. However, the problem is that most of these materials are concentrated in unstable and undemocratic regimes, which may pose strategic rivals. This creates a threat that supplier states may use critical materials as a tool of power and thus jeopardize the economic security of European Union countries. This thesis examines critical materials as a phenomenon, analyzes their criticality and relationship to technologies. It further conducts an analysis of selected critical materials and their risks, particularly about the nature of supplier states. The final chapter addresses the European strategy in this area and describes how critical materials affect strategic technologies.

Škop, Martin ; Krausz Hladká, Malvína (advisor) ; Parízek, Michal (referee)
This paper concerns with the development of relations between the EU and Brazil. Even though the relations are now rather stagnant due to the internal problems of both parties and the 2008 "Great Recession" , the European Union in order to meet its goals in multipolar (or non-polar) order needs to increase the attractiveness of cooperation with non-traditional partners. Brazil certainly has the potential to be among these partners. This work therefore analyzes the EU-Brazil strategic partner- ship that was made in 2007 and is defined in its action plans and is the main communication chan- nel between the Union and Brazil. This Paper lays out the content of the partnership in order to eva- luate its effectiveness and to point out the key factors behind success or vice versa which cause stagnation in its implementation. To achieve this, we have identified several indicators that are con- sidered to be crucial in the action plans and other partnership documents, and on the basis of which their achievement will lead to strengthening the links between the parties. Maráková, Natálie ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Šauer, Jaroslav (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on analysis and evaluation of the German-Russian strategic partnership from the German point of view. The aim of this thesis is to answer a question, whether Russia had ever been or still is a strategic partner of Germany, or whether the establishment of the German-Russian strategic partnership remains rather a political goal than the reality. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the theoretical definition of the strategic partnership and indentifies key characteristics of this concept. The analytical part is divided into separate chapters analysing individual dimensions of the German-Russian relations: economic, energetic, security and political. The final chapter sets the goal to summarise and to evaluate the main findings arising from the previous chapters and to answer the research question, whether Russia can be or in the past could be considered a German strategic partner.
