Waking Up from Neoliberal Totality? How We Invented a City in Which Nothing Can Be Created.
Moskvina, Yuliya ; Blokker, Paulus Albertus (advisor) ; Kuřík, Bohuslav (referee) ; Polanska, Dominica (referee)
Práce líčí příběh Autonomního sociálního centra Klinika v Praze. V práci zkoumám gramatiky veřejného sporu o městský prostor. Práce začíná úvodem do hlavních teorií používaných při studiu kolektivního jednání v městském prostoru - teorie sociálních hnutí, teorie prefigurace a přímé akce a teorie městských hnutí, primárně v SVE. Místo těchto přístupů nabízím ontologicky, epistemologicky a metodologicky aparát pragmatické sociologie kritiky a zkoumám veřejné spory o zmíněný sociální centrum. Abstract The thesis recounts the story of the Autonomous Social Center Klinika in Prague. As such, it presents an opportunity to explore the grammars of public dispute about urban space. The thesis starts with an introduction to the main theories used in studying contention-social movement studies, the theories of prefiguration and direct action, and urban movements studies. These three branches are alternated with the pragmatic sociology of critique as an ontologically, epistemologically, and methodologically novel...
Autonomous Social Centre Klinika and Left-wing Activism: Critical Analysis of Media Discourse
Lazecký, Tomáš ; Hájek, Václav (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the Autonomous social centre Klinika in the Prague district of Žižkov and the left-wing, mostly anarchist, groups that affiliate with the centre. The thesis studies the current shape and form of media discourse related to the far-left political scene in the Czech Republic. Using the critical discource approach, the thesis analyzes a number of texts from the multimedia company MAFRA (Lidovky.cz, iDnes.cz) and that of alternative left-wing media (A2larm.cz, Denikreferendum.cz). The thesis investigates whether the fact that the publishing house is owned by the anti-politician Andrej Babiš projected in any way in case of the right-wing (centre- right) media. The main finding is, that the scrutinized right-wing media consistently avoid the question of legitimacy of squatting but their approach to squatting and leftist activist scene is not hostile. On the other hand, the scrutinized leftist media emphasize the legitimacy of squatting. The influence of Andrej Babiš was not confirmed.

1 Abstract The bachelor's thesis deals with the collective of the Autonomous Social Center Klinika in Žižkov, on the example of which it examines the internal values of its members and then raises the question of whether it is possible to find aspects of subculture, counterculture or social movement in this collective. The theoretical part focuses on a summary of the development of the subcultural, countercultural and social movements studies and then presents the definitions of these concepts in the post-soviet Czech Republic. Subsequently, I describe the development of Czech squatting. Important part of the thesis are interviews with former members of the collective. The conclusion is that collective was counterculturally oriented with the features of social movement. Subcultural aspects were present to a very limited amount, because the members were actively suppresing them.

FÁROVÁ, Barbora
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of drug scene and life in squats. These are the serious social problems of today's society. The work deals with this issue within the particular region for which the Přibram region was selected. The drug scene and living in squats in Přibram is a very topical issue. Drugs are becoming more popular especially among young people. The reasons are many young people try, where are actually their borders. The specific reasons may include, for example, family problems, problems at school or with a partner as well. The aim is to map the drug scene and squatting in Příbram through eyes of people using illegal substances. Work is focused on drugs in the general aspect determination by origin, by their action, and by the risk of addiction. Drug dependence is the inability to dispense with the drug, which is typical for addicts. The drug scene in the Czech Republic is especially characteristic by being drawn from drugs that are most prevalent in our country it is cannabis, MDMA (ecstasy) and last but not least methamphetamine. In the Central region, the situation is more or less constant for several years. Squatting is unlawful occupation of empty houses and their subsequent impoverished countryside populated. Nowadays in squats we can meet a number of drug - addicted people. For thesis the chosen method is quantitative research. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on several problematic areas. They are drugs, the drug scene in the Czech Republic, social work with drug addicts and squatting. The practical part is devoted to the investigation questionnaire, which will take place in Contact Center Příbram. The questionnaire survey is completely anonymous, and respondents are asked about illegal drugs, their use and squatting. The research survey worked with three hypotheses. The first hypothesis assumed that an experience with squatting in researched region has rather men than women. This hypothesis was refuted. The second hypothesis was: The users of illegal drugs of the researched region over 25 years of age prefer intravenous use of addictive substance while younger users choose less risk of use, and it was confirmed. The third hypothesis, assuming that more men than women spend daily over 500 CZK for drugs, was also confirmed.
From Autonomy to Post-autonomy? Case of Autonomous Social Center Klinika
Böhmová, Ludmila ; Navrátil, Jiří (advisor) ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (referee)
The focus of my thesis is on the process of transformation of the leftist movement from autonomous to post-autonomous. Specifically, I am interested in the transformation of the Czech squatting movement and the case of the Autonomous Social Centre Klinika. I ask whether it is possible to consider the case of Klinika an example of post-autonomy in Czech context, and which dimensions of the transformation can we identify there. In the theoretical part I define the concept of autonomy and how the autonomous movements understand it. By defining the characteristics of the autonomous movements alongside with theoretical literature, I then identify five dimensions of the transformation from autonomy to post-autonomy. Because the transformation is influenced by both internal and external facts, it is important to me, to firstly understand the neoliberal mode of thinking, its difficulties and other facts, which can determine the transformation. Crucial for research are the data I collect from the semi-structured interviews with respondents, who have been selected based on their experiences with squatting in Czech context.

In a wider context, the thesis deals with new social movements in Germany, mainly with squatting in West Berlin. The thesis is also devoted to West Berlin's Kreuzberg district and its development after the construction of the Berlin Wall until the beginning of the squatting wave in the late 1970s, including a description of the then urban policy.
