Modern approaches to the city development planning and conceptions
Kostelecká, Lenka ; Khendriche Trhlínová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kouřilová, Jana (referee)
The thesis introduces chosen initiatives that reflect the changing atmosphere and social values of population in the economically well-developed part of the world. The change in the social values is a consequence of deepening socio-cultural and economic interdependence of the regions and the cities in the globalised world. Main presumptions of successful implementation of the initiatives are analysed in order to confront it with the environment of the Czech cities. The main objective of the thesis is an evaluation of the readiness for the usage of these new initiatives in the current Czech city development. There is a visible change in social values among the Czech population under way, however that is typical for its hedonic character. Most of the presumptions are more or less fulfilled with the regional differences. Some of the initiatives have even already been successfully implemented with the positive impact on the environment. Therefore further involvement of similar initiatives could be expected in the future.
The development of household consumption in the Czech Republic
Pěnička, Jan ; Pavelka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Rusmichová, Lada (referee)
This Bachelor thesis deals with the development of household consumption in the Czech Republic , especially in macroeconomic terms . The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to explore the evolution over time and assess the impact of growth / decline of wages to consumption. The theoretical part describes the brief development of theories of consumption and also explains the basic concepts related to the topic. The practical part is based on the information mentioned in the theoretical part. It focuses on the relationship between selected macroeconomic variables and household consumption. Keynesian consumption function for the current and real prices is derived using regression analysis. The hypothesis, which assumes that the change in the average wage leads to a change in consumption, was proved. The second hypothesis, which assumes a reduction in consumption due to an increase in unemployment, could not be confirmed. Household consumption has been reduced in all monitored EU countries due to economic crisis.

Habit Formation in Consumption: A Meta-Analysis
Havránek, Tomáš ; Rusnák, Marek ; Sokolova, Anna
We examine 567 estimates of habit formation from 69 studies published in peer-reviewed journals. In contrast to previous results for most fields of empirical economics, we find no publication bias in the literature. The median estimated strength of habit formation equals 0.4, but the estimates vary widely both within and across studies. We use Bayesian model averaging to assign a pattern to this variance while taking into account model uncertainty. Studies using micro data report consistently smaller estimates than macro studies: 0.1 vs. 0.6 on average. The difference remains large when we control for 21 other study aspects, such as data frequency, geographical coverage, variable definition, estimation approach, and publication characteristics. We also find that estimates of external habit formation tend to be substantially larger than those of internal habits, that evidence for habits weakens when researchers use higher data frequencies, and that estimates differ systematically across countries.
