Importance of special class for pupils with mild mental disabilities at regular primary school

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of education of pupils with intellectual disabilities in the environment of regular elementary schools. The aim of the thesis is to describe and verify the system of education in a class set up for pupils with mild intellectual disabilities and to evaluate the importance of this class within a regular primary school. The theoretical part of the work is devoted to the characteristics of intellectual disabilities, deals with school legislation, compares the education systems of pupils with special educational needs in neighboring countries and describes educational procedures and methods in the education of people with mild intellectual disabilities. The practical part is implemented by one of the methods of qualitative research, which is a case study. The research is carried out in the form of observations in the classroom set up according to § 16, paragraph 9, additional information is obtained on the basis of semi-structured interviews with schoolteachers and parents of pupils. The conclusions of the investigation offer the characteristics of the given class, its specifics and possibilities.
Attitudes of children of young school age to integrate people with disability

Title: Attitudes of children of young school age to integrate people with disability. The main topic of the thesis is the attitudes of younger pupils towards integrating their peers with disabilities. The thesis also briefly discusses the attitudes of families and teachers with regards to the issue. The theoretical basis which the thesis builds on is defining of the term "inclusion" and the related legislature. Issues of physical disability, personality of a person with a disability and societal views and approaches to disabilities are also explored. Specific characteristics of inclusive education are mentioned. The goal of the thesis is to map the attitudes of pupils towards inclusion, their feelings about being in a classroom where inclusive education is practiced and their way of perceiving their teacher`s work. The thesis employs a quantitative method of data collection via questionnaires. Key terms: Attitudes, inclusive education, people with disabilities, specifics of education.
Teaching English at Secondary School Level and its Specifics Considering the Educational Theory of Maria Montessori

This thesis deals with teaching English at Secondary school level considering the educational theory of Maria Montessori. The aim of the thesis is to find out specifics of teaching English. The theoretical part presents Maria Montessori, who is considered to be a founder of Montessori pedagogy, her methods, principles and specifics. In the next part the thesis is focused on the role of the teacher and the pupil in this educational system. Next part is focused on the language teaching and on the acquisition of mother tongue and foreign language. In the conclusion of the theoretical part there is an introduction of General Educational Program of English language. The practical part describes teaching English at the Secondary school level considering the General Educational Program and thus by observing the classes and thanks to conversations with the teacher of English and pupils.
