Selected issues of proving in criminal proceedings
Polanský, Ivo ; Jelínek, Jiří (advisor) ; Galovcová, Ingrid (referee)
1 Abstract This thesis deals in particular with the analysis of the process of presentation of evidence in penal proceedings, its basic principles, as well as the constitutional limitations within which the evidence-making process should be carried out. However, some other questions, especially legal and philosophical ones that are directly related to the presentation of evidence in the penal or legal proceedings cannot be ignored. The chosen topic can undoubtedly be considered to be very topical. This is because the presentation of evidence in penal proceedings is, besides the decision-making process itself, the most important procedural activity carried out by the bodies responsible for penal proceedings and participated by other entities involved in the penal proceedings. The aim of this thesis is to give a brief and comprehensive overview of some specifically selected problems of presentation of evidence in penal proceedings. Naturally, with regard to the chosen topic and its scope, it is not possible to comprehensively process all the areas that are related to the issue of presentation of evidence. Chapter 5, 6 and 7 can be considered crucial to the thesis in question, as they provide, in particular, the analysis of existing evidence-making legislation in penal proceedings. The basic principles of...
Two Ways of Being: Potentiality and Actuality. A Contribution to Interpretation of Aristotle's Metaphysics
Rabas, Martin ; Němec, Václav (advisor) ; Špinka, Štěpán (referee)
in English: In the first half of the book Theta of his Metaphysics, Aristotle discusses dunamis as a property of a being. In this sense, dunamis is primarily a principle of change in another thing or in the thing itself qua other, thereby exercising itself in its energeia. In the second half of the book, Aristotle discusses dunamis as a way of being. In this sense, a being is dunamei another thing and in the course of its becoming that thing it changes into being energeiai. The aim of the present thesis is to offer an interpretation of the concepts of dunamis and energeia as they appear in the chapters 1, 2, 6 and partly 7 of the book Theta. The first question is how the concepts of dunamis and energeia in both parts fit together. The problem is posed as follows: Are dunamis in the sense of a principle of change and dunamis as a way of being mutually dependent? Are energeia as change and being energeiai related? Are they not, in fact, two relatively independent philosophical concepts, relative to whether being is regarded from the point of view of physics, respectively metaphysics? Based on the interpretation of Aristotle's statements, the thesis aims to argue that Aristotle starts his exposition with the analysis of dunamis in the sense of a principle of change precisely in order to show the...

VANDERKOVÁ, Andrea
This work provides a detailed analysis of three works by René Magritte based on the theoretical background of Visual Culture Studies and Semiotics. Since these disciplines still need to be better established in Czech research, the first part of the thesis is devoted to creating of theoretical background relevant to the interpretation of Magritte's works. In addition to this part aiming at the issue of human perception of images in general, the thesis also deals with the interpretation of selected works and the dynamics of the relation between word and image that had influenced Magritte's work. Based on the interpretation of Magritte's work, I try to illuminate the ways in which we perceive images and evaluate the world through them.
Audience expectations in relation with film authenticity
Jelínek, Jakub ; BAGDASAROV, Georgy (advisor) ; Kratochvíl, Jaroslav (referee)
This study aims to examine the cosmos of mock-documentary films, that are trying to fool its audience throughout the acceptance of the form of real documentary films. By using the same stylistic elements they try to deprive the audience of its critical approach and make it believe. Through the analysis of those fictional mock-documentaries, we are going to reveal procedures used by many directors all over the world to create something what we call the illusion of the real. On the specific examples of "mockumentary" films, propaganda films and some conspiracy theory films, we will explore whether all of those film forms use the same procedures to convince their audience since they are all trying to achieve the same result – to create an ultimate vision of the real throughout the acceptance of visual and formal appearance of documentary film.
