Supporting self-care skills in children with autism spectrum disorder through applied behavioral analysis methods

The thesis deals with the problem of learning self-care skills in children with autism spectrum disorder through the methods of applied behavior analysis. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the legislative framework of education in the Czech Republic with a focus on special education counselling and the provision of support measures in education. Furthermore, autism spectrum disorders are characterized and the basic theoretical foundations of applied behavior analysis are defined. The empirical part of the thesis is divided into two parts, the first of which aims to present the theoretical foundations of the problem of toilet training, developed mainly from foreign literature, as well as foreign studies conducted on the topic. The second part of the empirical part of the thesis contains a case study of two children with autism spectrum disorder. In the preparation of the empirical part of the thesis, the following techiques were used: analysis of the studied literature, review of foreign studies, document analysis and case study. Motor imitation as a precondition for self-care skills for children with autism spectrum disorders

The thesis deals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders in terms of their ethology and diagnostic criteria. The theoretical part further describes development of terminology of these disorders and historical concept of care of individuals with Autism. Included are also categories of disabilities and their symptoms. Another chapter discusses the specifics of self-help skills of children with Autism and characterizes motor development of preschool children with an emphasis on motor imitation, as one of the sub-kinetic abilities. The aim of the research work is to analyse the degree of influence of motor imitation on the development of self-help skills of children with Autism. It focuses on evaluation of the developmental level of the respondent's self-help skills and its development influenced by intensive imitation training. Determination of the actual developmental level allows easier orientation within self-help skills that can be practiced with the child. Their list is located in the attachments. Further research clarifies what techniques were the most successful during motor imitation training. Ranoe of conprehensive care of Children with multiple disabilities in the educational process

The present paper thematizes the complex care for children with multiple disability whitin the educating proces. The theoretical part discusses following subthemes: multiple disability from the point of view of school education, mealtime skills, self-care skills, typical problems within these areas and possible intervention. The practical part maps sklills of the children with multiple disability within these key areas.

The bachelor thesis deals with the level of self-service skills by mentally disabled people who exploit the residence social service called sheltered housing. It is devided into two main parts. The theoretical part characterizes mentally disabled people and their self-service skills. It deals also with social work and the system of social services for mentally disabled people and it particularly describes the social service called sheltered housing. The practical part is focused on the research of the given problem in a particular organization focused on providing residence social services for mentally disabled people, in Domov PETRA Mačkov. The aim of this research is to find out the level of self-service skills by the clients of sheltered housing.
