bluery
Voldán, Martin ; Gabriel, Michael (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
We've lost water. We've lost natural contact with it. Thanks to climate change, we find ourselves in a situation where we either have too much water - flash floods and melting snow, or we have a shortage during increasingly frequent droughts. Solutions are nowhere in sight. We're borrowing water from underground reserves and not planning to repay it. And yet, when it does rain, the water slips through our fingers straight out of the cities. Go away! It is necessary to reintegrate water into the everyday functioning of the city, perceive it as a fundamental part equivalent to any other infrastructure, such as greenery. Greenery = bluery. It is necessary to retain water in place. More water won't just appear, drinking water is scarce, so it's not only reasonable but crucial for our future to preserve at least a drop or two. Visible with the invisible. Visible surface flags, imaginary cherries on the technological cake in the form of underground cathedrals or banks. Aqua bank.
Reservoirs - Brno, Zluty kopec (Yellow hill)
Murínová, Miriam ; Kolář, Vojtěch (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the proposal of new interventions within the area above the underground reservoirs in the area of the Žlutý kopec. Various urban structures, atmospheres and influences of surrounding, natural or urbanistic are encountered in the area. The place is unique for its location near the historic center of Brno, the potential of the green public priesthood within a built-up part of the city with a view of the city's landmark, Spilberk Castle. The aim of the work is to offer a dessign that responds to these impacts and links them in a design that complements existing underground reservoirs. It invites the inhabitants of the city, new visitors or tourists to regenerate body and soul, in the gallery or athletic center in the environment of reservoirs. The programme of the place offers both, the social space through a new cultural and visitor center but also soothing space in the form of a park.
Reservoirs - Brno, Zluty kopec (Yellow hill)
Vymětal, Bedřich ; Hanousek, Jan (referee) ; Palaščák, Michal (advisor)
This work is dealing with accessibility of area that is on the border of three subsystems that are blocked off by each other by topography. Unfulfilled potential caused by barrier disabling connection to the city structure. Relief of a city influencing reachability of its parts that causes its decline. Overcoming such a barrier could cause activation of the area without big intervention to the urbanity or function of given area.

Population dynamics of Asp Leuciscus aspius from the Želivka dam
Bouše, Eduard ; Švátora, Miroslav (advisor) ; Pivnička, Karel (referee)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the material about the asp Leuciscus aspius (L., 1758) from the dam Želivka - Švihov in the years 1971 - 2014. Main emphasis was put on the analysis of the flock spawning from 2008 - 2014. Here, basic abiotic conditions were monitored at the time of the spawning and growth and population characteristics were calculated. Spawning took place at two locations, at 4 - 10 0 C, the asp showed a spawning site accuracy. Males predominated on the spawning grounds in the overall ratio of 1,22 : 1. The age of the fish examined ranged from 3+ to 13+. The average mortality of adults is about 0,4. Additional flock spawning ranges from 20 to 50%. The length at which scales begin to form (SL = 29,7 mm), was determined by using the rate between the body length and scale radius. Differences in the growth rates between males a females are minimal, only from the third to the fifth age group, males showed a higher growth rates. The length - weight relationship can be described as W = 0,0153. L3,19 .
Seasonal changes of water quality in reservoirs of the Litovecko-Šarecká cascade
Stegarescu, Rodica ; Komínková, Dana (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with monitoring of water quality in the reservoirs which form the Litovicko- Šárecká cascade. It is a cascade of ponds, waterworks and retention reservoirs situated on the Litovicko-Šárecký stream and is composed of 9 major reservoirs. These reservoirs have different functions: from landscaping, retention, biological as well as recreation: fishing and swimming. Many of these reservoirs flow through human settlements, which have a negative impact on the quality of water within the whole cascade. The goal of this thesis is to monitor physical and chemical indicators of water as well as to determine the composition of phytoplankton populations, assess the state of water depending on the human activities in the basin and also to monitor how has the water quality changed in time and what are the main pollution sources. The water quality was determined from 11 samples collected with monthly intervals during March 2012 to May 2013. Samples were collected on all the reservoirs from the inflow, in the middle and at the outflow for chemical analysis and only from the middle for biological analysis. The following indicators were monitored: temperature, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, indicators of neutralization capacity (ZNK8.3 a KNK4.5), hardness, CODMn, the concentration of...
Structure of zooplankton in reservoirs of the Jizera Mountains during the peaking anthropogenic acidification and recovery from acidification (1992-2011)
Bímová, Tereza ; Hořická, Zuzana (advisor) ; Seďa, Jaromír (referee)
Acidic atmospheric deposition and acidification of soil and water on the Earth's surface, due to emissions of sulfur and nitrogen into the atmosphere, have led to drastic changes in the composition of surface waters and their biota in many regions of the world over the last century. The number of species and biomass of phytoplankton, zooplankton and benthos were reduced, or some components (zooplankton, zoobenthos, fish) became extinct. In the Jizera Mountains (Northern Bohemia, Czech Republic), the man-made acidification has always been combined with a natural acidity (dystrophy) of waters, caused by a high amount of organic acids. Despite a strong recovery of water chemistry from acidification, that has started in the 1990s, biological recovery is delayed and much more complex. This master thesis is a study of the succession of zooplankton (crustaceans) in mountain reservoirs Souš, Bedřichov and Josefův Důl after decades of strong acidification. Biological recovery from acidification has been in progress differently in the drinking water reservoir Souš, which has long been limed, in the Bedřichov reservoir with naturally high content of organic material, and in the drinking water reservoir Josefův Důl, which is the largest and deepest one and which was most affected by acidification. Recovery of...
Population dynamics of Asp Leuciscus aspius ( L., 1758) from the Želivka dam
Bouše, Eduard ; Švátora, Miroslav (advisor) ; Pivnička, Karel (referee)
The scale material of the asp (Leuciscus aspius, L., 1758) collected from the Želivka dam between 1971 and 2012 has been processed and evaluated. The samples gathered between 2008 and 2012 have been used to determine the basic growth and population characteristics. In the first place I focused on the shoal spawning analysis. The age of individuals in this analysis ranged between 3+ to 13+, at the body length ranging between 370 to 690 mm. The length of the fish when the scales begin to appear (SL = 29,7 mm) was determined on the base of correlation between the body length and the scale radius. The growth rate in recent years was defined using the technique of back - calculation from the scales. The body length-weight relationship can be described as W = 0,009 ∙ L3,1 . The difference in the growth speed between males and females was minimal and statistically inconclusive. The growth speed of an asp in the Želivka dam is roughly at the same level as all other water reservoirs in Czech Republic.
