Crimes related to the abuse of addictive substances
Novák, Josef ; Říha, Jiří (advisor) ; Richter, Martin (referee)
Crime related to substance abuse This thesis focuses on the issue of crime related to substance abuse and, in particular, on the issue of relationship between property crime recidivism and drug use. Drug use is widely recognised as a known criminogenic factor. The relationship between drug use and crime in general has been the subject of many research studies and scientific papers in the past. Property crime recidivism in relation to drug use is a similarly problematic issue. The successful reduction of recidivism rate is usually considered as evidence of effective criminal justice policy. Alongside this, property crime represents a significant proportion of total crime. Moreover, property crime is characterised by a higher recidivism rate than other types of crime. In practice, there are often visible signs of a possible link between these phenomena. A closer examination of the issue of property crime recidivism in relation to drug use raises many questions. Is there a relationship between these phenomena? And if so, is this relationship reflected enough in the interventions used to reduce recidivism? This thesis therefore analyses each of the sub-issues (drug use, property crime, criminal recidivism) in order to identify the possible relationship between property crime recidivism and drug use. It...
Iron hand in a velvet glove

Annotation What is a prison? What is its meaning or role? What does prison mean in the context of architecture? How did prisons develop and how did these changes relate to the development of society? And should prisons not exist at all? Prison is a very controversial topic, but it still affects the lives of many people. Former convicts face prejudice and social barriers and often relapse, which we should try to prevent. The work discusses the relationship of architecture to the correction and reintegration of convicts. The architecture of the prison should respond to the tendencies that have proved effective, follow them and together with them form the most effective correctional facility. It can be seen that the course of prison designing is moving towards a more open, smaller and more friendly space. Correctional programs in open prisons work with convicts on the basis of contact with the outside world, reintegration, through work, retraining and educational programs, where architecture has a significant impact, as it maximizes the chances of convicts to be rehabilitated and is inscribed into their lives. During the work on this project, a proposal for an open prison in Olomouc was created, which considers the stages of the correction of convicts and reflects the routine of everyday life outside prison. It uses movement to break the monotony of prisoners' recurring days.

The thesis has been written using the descriptive, analytical, synthetic and interpretative methods, especially linguistic and teleological interpretation. The comparative method was also used, in particular for comparing the Czech and Italian legal regulations. Structurally, the thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter of the thesis deals with the definition of the terms concurrence of crimes, recidivism, and also quasi-recidivism, while pointing out selected issues, which occur while distinguishing these forms of multiple offences. The second chapter of the thesis analyses the legal regulation regarding the...

Knapčoková, Jana ; Marešová, Alena (advisor) ; Zoubková, Ivana (referee)
Criminal recidivism prevention and Three-strikes principle Abstract Significant number of crimes and prisoners are repeat offenders in Czech Republic. Therefore, prevention of recidivism is an important element of penal policy. Although the trend is to focus on more restorative justice and rehabilitation of the offender, there are still calls for more repressive sanctions for repeat offenders which embodies the catchy Three-strikes you're out laws. Three-strikes laws come from Anglo-Saxon criminal justice system and essentially on their basis the justice system can impose more repressive sanctions, usually life imprisonment. These laws are part of penal populism. The goal of this thesis is an analysis of recidivism prevention measures in Czech Republic, the effect of imprisonment on repeat offenders and the state of Czech prison system. Empirical part of the thesis deals with implementation of the Three-strikes you're out principle into Czech penal policy or rather more repressive sanctions for Czech repeat offenders. The analysis is based on key areas. Despite Czech criminal law referencing restorative justice the practise of this concept still faces some serious issues. The full potential of restorative justice in Czech criminal law is being complicated by insufficient technical backing (electronic...

The theoretical part is focused on defining the concepts that are important for this thesis and encompasses the basic relevant concepts with the issue. These are concepts such as social pe-education, socially pathological phenomena, punishment, crime, resocialization and recidivism. I have further enriched these topics with the issue of drugs and defining methamphetamine. The research part focuses on an interview with a man who tells about his life journey, which was accompanied not only by experimentation with drugs but also by a prison sentence. The qualitative methodology is in the form of biographical research, which aims to find out what impact a person's criminal past has on his life and how to ensure a successful return to social life without signs of recidivism. To investigate whether the respondent's different life stages may have affected his personality. Throughout, I am guided by the respondent's key events that have affected him the most in his life.

Kopačka, Adam ; Heranová, Simona (advisor) ; Mulák, Jiří (referee)
Punishment of Recividism Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the topic of criminal recidivism which is a global problem, the solution of which should be one of the goals of the state's criminal justice system and at the same time it is a measure of its success rate. The frequency of recidivism to some extent reflects the effectiveness of criminal sanctions, the effectiveness of their enforcement, but also social influences such as the demographic distribution of the population or social inequality. Recidivism is a problem that cannot be definitively solved but it is possible to approach the ideal of its punishment, and thus the effective fight against repeated offenses by recidivizing criminals. Recidivism can be viewed from the perspective of many scientific disciplines. This work aims to describe recidivism in the eyes of criminal law. It depicts the legal instruments that serve to punish recidivists more severely, the conditions of their application and their impact on the type and amount of punishment. Although the aim of the thesis is to map especially effective law, recidivism is also approached in its historical context as this aspect is key to understanding older case law. The domestic legislation is also partially compared with foreign legislation which can be a useful inspiration for...

The role of social worker in resocializatin of adult offenders of property crime serving a prison sentence
Frydrychová, Monika ; Matoušková, Andrea (advisor) ; Hulmáková, Jana (referee)
(anglicky): In my thesis, I focus on the role of social workers in prisons and their effect on social rehabilitation of offenders who have committed a property crime. Imprisonment is based on the principle of restorative justice beyond the protection of society to act as an educational element directly to the offender. Individuals who leave prison, are at risk of social exclusion and their possibility of integration into society is due to stigmatization, unstable social environment, housing, employment and other circumstances endangered. The aim of this bachelor thesis is mapping the activities of social workers with adult men in prison. The social worker is a part of the overall examination of the situation of prisoners, social workers are also involved in the processing of a rehabilitation program, which has an impact on an individual's life after release and on recidivism. Social worker cooperate with families, verifies information, etc. The thesis explores the practice of social workers in our country and considering to the practice I suggest changes to improve practice.
