Czech sport journalists of generation Y: Career reflection based on job satisfaction and motivation

This diploma thesis deals with the career reflection of Czech sports journalists on the basis of attributes of job satisfaction and motivation. It focuses on Generation Y journalists, whose are described in professional studies as economically active, demanding a higher standard of living, emphasizing personal fulfillment, but also interested in their personal and family life. The aim of this thesis is to describe the generation of sports journalists in terms of their professional satisfaction and motivation. Based on a quantitative questionnaire survey and qualitative research in the form of personal semi-structured interviews and their analysis using the method of interpretative phenomenology, the thesis attempts to describe the most common challenges that journalists belonging to Generation Y face during their careers. These include work-life balance, gender inequality in the workplace, generation conflicts in the work team or insufficient financial remuneration. The sample is made up of men and women who were working in audiovisual, radio and print/online sports media during the interviews.
Amatrya Sen - and New Economic Thought of Our Time

The thesis is dealing with a complex content of tasks and work created by Amartya Kumar Sen, Indian economist, holder of the Nobel prize in 1998. In the first part, his personal, professional life and career is outlined. This should be an attempt to introduce into significant approach, essential concepts of his work in particular publications, that are fundamental for this recognition. Each publication has been selected according to the contribution to the global issues. At the same time figures cooperating or influencing and bacis economic theories specific for his work are being presented. Second part is devoted to the questions of poverty, famines and equality in the world, which is influenced by the economical behaviour. The purpose it to draw attention to importace and to inform about the status typical for this period. The section of the thesis are translations of English text as well. The reason for the publication is the lack of transalted works into Czech and to refer to critical thinking of Amartya Sen and his connection with democracy and human values.
Challenging situations and stress in secondary school teacher's professional life

The subject of my thesis is challenging situations and stress in the professional life of secondary school teachers. The aim of my thesis is to analyze what causes these stressful experiences and experiences of these stressful situations. The theoretical part deals with the definition of stress, the symptoms of stress in humans, the stressors, the stress on teachers, ways of coping with stress, difficult life situations and the analysis of burnout. In the practical part I have focused on research among teachers at a secondary school in South Bohemia. The aim of the research is to determine how individual teachers manage and cope with stress.
Work-Life Balance and its influence to individuals' leisure time

This thesis explores the balance between work and personal life and its impact on individuals' leisure time. The first part begins with a discussion of the issues surrounding work-life balance and then focuses on the phenomenon of leisure and its importance in the lives of individuals. In order to contextualize this discussion, this thesis presents the relevant theories in the field and identifies their role in the development of leisure time in relation to work. Folowing part examines the concept of work-life balance in organizations and identify the different means of realization, such as flexible work arrangements and employee benefits. Also included is an empirical study that is carried out through a questionnaire survey. This investigation is focused on the influence of work and its aspects on leisure time and work-life balance of university-educated individuals who are currently employed. This empirical study should contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between work and personal life regarding individuals leisure time. Sportsman as a Celebrity in Course of Time

This diploma thesis discusses the process of celebritization of sportsmen. This phenomenon is illustrated with a form of the media coverage of sporting career of gymnast Věra Čáslavská, speed skater Martina Sáblíková and tennis players Jan Kodeš and Tomáš Berdych. The thesis compares socialist journals Československý sport and Lidová demokracie and current periodicals Sport and Lidové noviny. The work deals with the characteristics of the concept of celebrity, history of sports celebrities, types of people who are likely to become a celebrity, and social status of athletes. The articles related to the selected sportsmen were examined through content analysis. Researched texts were divided into prepared categories (professional life, lifestyle, relationships, love life, appearance, personality, children, health, advertising). This quantitative research was followed by qualitative research methods, which focused on athletes in the advertising industry. The method consisted of examining the articles about advertising activities of athletes. The work also deals with the description of life and sports career of gymnast Věra Čáslavská. The information comes from the media coverage of contemporary prints, which describes not only her athletic career, but also the period after 1990.
Work-life balance in a gender perspective

The aim of this Diploma Thesis is besides theoretical clarification of the concept of Work-life balance, in particular to show how much time people spend to their hobbies a families and on the contraty how much time they spend at work, and partly from a women's perspective and from the perspective of men. To fulfil these objectives, the synthesis was used, especially in the theoretical part. The other methods used in the Thesis were quantitative and qualitative research through questionnaire survey and individual personal interviews. Using these methods work came to conclusion, how to the respondents manage to harmonize their personal and professional lives, and if there is a difference in the results from a gender perspective.
Value of work for man

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to man's relation to work, values stemming from work and values one expects from work. Attention is paid to the differences between traditional and modern forms of work and to the consequences implied by these differences. Furthermore, this thesis elaborates on basic motives for work, values relative to professional life and also on categories of professional quality of life. Practical part of the thesis is based on detailed case studies that are aiming at describing thoroughly and contextually work values and professional lives of chosen respondents.
