Design of electromagnetic weight lifting equipment
Valentová, Radka ; Chorý, Tomáš (referee) ; John, David (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is the design of an electromagnetic strength training equipment intended for the home environment. It focuses on enabling all muscle groups to be strengthened using one device. It looks at the shortcomings of current devices for home use and aims to design and develop a new and better solution that would allow for a more efficient and comfortable training while being suitable in the chosen environment. The thesis is mainly based on observations of practice, consultations with users, trainers, and other relevant sources. A new design of equipment was proposed and its functionality and suitability for home weight training needs to be verified. The design was refined in terms of shape as well as ergonomics, materials, and colour to meet the arising requirements. The final product met the objectives of the work and came up with a new approach to assembling the equipment.

Methods of prevention in hyperextension trauma to the elbow of the handball goalkeeper
Šrámková, Šárka ; Petr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Title: Methods of prevention in hyperextension trauma to the elbow of the handball goalkeeper. Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is to determine whether the muscle strengthening exercises stabilizers of the elbow affect the stability of the elbow joint and also draw attention to the issue of hyperextension trauma to the elbow joint of the handball goalkeeper. Another objective is to evaluate the possibility of prevention of hyperextension trauma to the elbow joint of the handball goalkeeper. Methods: Rating angular deviations observed in the elbow before and after completing the intervention. Deviations were recorded using a 3D analysis system Qualysis and were processed in software Qualisys Track Manager. Results: Strengthening the dynamic stabilizers of the elbow helps to improve stability of the elbow joint load into hyperextension. Active exercise can be used as a possible prevention of hyperextension trauma to the elbow joint of handball goalkeepers. Keywords: elbow joint, hyperextension trauma, goalkeeper, handball, strengthening
The rate of physical activity of people with spinal cord lesions
Maráčková, Petra ; Vařeková, Jitka (advisor) ; Malá, Michaela (referee)
Title: The rate of physical activity of people with spinal cord lesions. Objectives: The aim of the research was to verify the usability of a non-standardized questionnaire for collecting data on the level of physical activity and other selected lifestyle factors in people with spinal cord injury. Methods: Quantitative research was carried out in the field environment of Centrum Paraple. It was an observational study consisting of a pilot survey of a sample of the population of people with spinal cord injury about the level of physical activity. We used a non-standardized electronic questionnaire "LTPA-SCI" ("Leisure time physical activity for people with spinal cord injury "), created by spinal specialists of Centrum Paraple. A total of n = 66 respondents participated in the study (male n = 53; female n = 13). The sampling was random. The criteria for inclusion in the study were a minimum age limit of 18 years, a diagnosis of spinal cord lesions with complete and incomplete spinal cord damage and participation in a three-week movement program at Centrum Paraple. The data were processed using descriptive statistics in Excel program. Results: A sample of respondents to this survey shows that Centrum Paraple's clients perform more physical activity in their home environment, a total of 86%. The age...
Construction of workout machines, their mechanisms and use in practice
SVINTEK, Lukáš
In the introduction of the diploma thesis, a current view of the issue of strengthening and strength machines is given. In the theoretical part, a general overview of the solved problem is made from available information sources. In the practical part, machines are divided according to various criteria with a focus on the most used machines. Then the work focuses on the construction of selected types of strength machines, safety features and sources of load forces. The next part consists of research in the form of a questionnaire intended for fitness centers. Based on the answers, a proposal to improve the problematic parts. This is followed by testing of the proposed design variants on a test device. The conclusion of the work is a summary of the facts found and their interpretation.

Title: Effect of strength training in improving range of movement - a systematic review Objective: The aim of this diploma thesis is to find answers to research questions in a form of systematic review and to evaluate if strength training has effects on improving range of movement, or if it restricts it or if it doesn't affect it at all. This systematic review also aims to find out how many researchers are inclined to these individual influences of strength training. Method: The Google scholar, PubMed and Web of Science databases were selected for the study search, in which 140 studies were found on basis of established criteria, which were complemented by 4 studies from other sources, from which 128 were subsequently obtained after removing duplicates. An abstract of these studies was studied, of which 95 studies were unsuitable and were therefore excluded. The remaining 33 studies were further studied and, if they met the criteria of at least one research question, were subseqently included in present review. A total of 18 studies were included in present review, which were further classified into research questions according to additional criteria. For each research question, the studies were evaluated separately and the results of the studies were clearly recorded in a table for subseqent...
The role of enlargement in the relations between the Russian Federation and NATO
Laru, Dmitry ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Ditrych, Ondřej (referee)
This particular work deals with the process of expansion by the North Atlantic Alliance in view of the theory of balance of power and the relationship between Russia and NATO. The author of the work draws on assumption that NATO's expansions, that have followed the end of the cold war, strengthen NATO's might, to which Russia must react to counter the growing power of the potential adversary. This work is divided into two main thematic parts. The first part regards the three waves of the expansion which followed the breakup of the Soviet Union (1999, 2004, and 2009); therein, the author analyzes NATO's strengthening on the military, political and geopolitical levels. The second part of the work is devoted to unveiling of Russia's potential counterbalancing steps. The Russian attempt to counterbalance the NATO's moves, of course, has also been analyzed within three frames - military, political and geopolitical. The analysis of the counterbalancing by Russia, as well as the strengthening of NATO is presented within the frame defined by five year periods. To facilitate the theoretical view, the power counterbalancing analyses has been divided into, so called, "Hard balancing" and "Soft balancing". Because the end of the bipolar conflict contributed to substantial changes in international political...
