Sports and Relaxation Centre Vsetín, Ohrada

The topic of this master's thesis is the revitalization of the former Spartakiad stadium. Nowadays it functions as a sports complex Ohrada, which is in neglected condition and not widely used. The area is located at the southern edge of the city Vsetín and is defined by a 1st class road from the northeast, Vsetínská Bečva from the western and agricultural areas from the southern side. Above Bečva, the Bečevná hill rises and together they create a pleasant, out-of-town atmosphere with a great potential. The priority of the proposal was to create an attractive place with a variety of sports and recreational activities for all ages. However, at the beginning it was necessary to somehow insulate the area from the overpass. Therefore a sports and recreation facility was designed at the entrance to the area - it copies the shape of the road and forms an imaginary entrance gate to the zone. A car park was designed under the overpass, so the rest of the area remained exclusively for pedestrians. Sufficient distances among the individual sports grounds are supplemented by recreational areas of greenery. Most playgrounds are designed as multi-purpose, for greater variability of the territory. The buildings have a maximum of two floors and they are located in a way not to disturb the views of the recreational areas. They contain sports facilities as well as a wide range of interior activities. Three materials are used on all the buildings - wood, steel and glass, complemented by neutral white plaster. Therefore, the area operates in a comprehensive and uniform manner.

The architectural-urban study of the sports and recreational centre Za Lužánkami in Brno deals with the complex design of the sports and recreational complex. At present, the area of the former Boby Centre is in a poor condition. Fully functioning buildings in the area are a hotel, a concert hall and a tennis hall with outdoor courts, while the remaining buildings and areas, led by the football stadium, are dilapidated and do not fulfil their potential for public life. I approached the assignment as a solution to a complicated problem with many variables. The design provides a clear definition and morphology of the buildings, living, sports and recreational areas, including green spaces. It helps to social interaction and induce new contacts between people. It addresses the needs of current and future generations of residents. Connects and links to the transport infrastructure of the neighbourhood at all levels. Refers to the past and thus preserves in all respect the famous sporting genius of the locus to which it adds its own distinctive added value. Based on the design concept, a study has been carried out that takes advantage of a quality site in an attractive location in the city and offers a range of sports and recreational facilities. The main idea behind the design was to connect and relate the area to its surroundings. To offer a high quality public realm that will appeal to as many residents as possible across all generations through its range of functions and focus. Proportionate to its size and importance, several masses and objects were designed to divide the large area into smaller interconnected units. Each area has its own face, its own content and its own typical atmosphere that will win over its users. A good public space can be recognised by the way its users treat it. It becomes a mirror of society. If the design listens to the wishes and needs of the majority of the inhabitants, it becomes useful and sustainable at any time.

The Rehabilitation of the historical center and adjacent surroundings of Kyjov with a focus on the public space

The subject of the diploma thesis is “Rehabilitation of the historical center and the surrounding neighborhoods in Kyjov with main focus on public space”. Urbanistic solution covers an area in close distance from the Masaryk Square, where the effort is to offer housing in the newly designed residential district. Diploma thesis also contains a design for completion and increase of capacity of the social services complex which is adjacent to the park by Saint Josef Chapel. This park is a part of the urbanistic design as well. The studied area is bordered by the streets of Újezd, Dobrovského, Dvořákova, Klvaňova, Brandlova and Palackého třída. Although Kyjov is situated mostly on plains the studied area is in a hilly and disunited part of the city. Buildings in this area are rather low-rise and mainly used for housing purposes. The design is focused on offering varied housing, which relates to the existing buildings and develops unused public space. Scope of this diploma thesis also contains a vision for the year 2070. The vision focuses on an area currently with high-rise blocks of flats. This area is adjacent to the newly designed residential district.

Garni hotel below Javorina hill

This diploma thesis deals with the design of a hotel with a restaurant at the base the highest peak of the White Carpathians, Veľká Javorina. The area is located near the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area and the Cetuna Natural Monument. The location has the possibility of using year-long and seasonal activities such as downhill and cross - country skiing or ice skating on frozen ponds, cycling in the new built-up cycle paths, hiking or walking on educational trails, horse riding, swimming in nature or visiting a family mini-zoo with the possibility of personal contact with animals. The potential of the concerned area is still used mainly by domestic, persons with the possibility of accommodation by acquaintances or owners of seasonal cottages and houses due to insufficient short-term accommodation. It was the main imulse for the design of accommodation. A piece of land on the border of the cadastral area of Dolné Bzince and Hrubá Strana of the village of Bzince pod Javorinou was selected for the building construction, due to its satisfactory position, orientation and also for the possibility of its evaluation. The building is designed as a separate-standing object onto an undeveloped territory of the municipality, which was used for agricultural purposes. It's been a long time it lies on ice, decays and its value decreases with expanding overgrown trees. The land is slightly sloping, oriented to southwest. The building has three main entrances and secondary entrances for smooth operation of the hotel. There is a day (leisure) part placed on the 1st floor, also a part for accommodation employees and immobile clients, parts for hotel management, cleaning zone and restaurant. On the 2nd floor there is an accommodation part with 19 rooms and a library. Into basement is a sport and relaxation part, which consist of fitness center and wellness center. School, the Foundation of Life – a Complex of Educational Buildings in Ostrava, Cerna louka

The main object of my diploma project is complex of schools in Czech city Ostrava on the place Černá louka (in English Black meadow). The plot is next to the city centre from one side, from the other side its in neighbourhood of nature across the river. At the moment the place is used as an gallery of miniatures. The whole area is mix of many functions, from living to shopping, market, gallery, theatre and many other. In 2010 there were a competition about Černá louka, a Dutch studio Maxwan won and designed a cultural cluster in the ring of buildings on Černá louka. They desided to place a school in our parcela, because its great connection between nature and city. I used this idea and worked on it. The main mass is composed by 5 objects - school, kindergarden, high school, gym and community centre. In the centre of whole complex there is a playground - it will play an active role in the daily life of schools. The gymnastics hall as such can perform as sqaure: a meeting place, a theatre, a room for ceremonies and festivals. At the same time it will form the connection between different functions of school.

An Analysis of Urban Amenities in Housing Estate Inner Courtyards in Bratislava

This bachelor thesis focuses on an analysis of urban amenities in inner courtyards of housing estates with a special focus on playgrounds. It includes a description of the history of housing estates in Bratislava and especially the Trávniky estate, which was further analysed. This estate is analysed from both a general perspective and urban composition. The theoretical part discusses the area of public amenities in general. The practical part includes a comprehensive analysis of selected courtyards with a focus on playgrounds and their user experience, amenities and security. Collected data were analysed and a simplified SWOT analysis created. For the most pressing issues, changes and possible improvements were proposed.

Brno brownfields by the Svitava river

The theme of the diploma thesis „Brno brownfields by the Svitava River“ Is design of contemporary city structure in Brno Husovice. The theisis deals with the analysis of the current situation, definition of problems and opportunities in the location and the design, based on these researches. Studied area is located on the riverbank of the Svitava River and is defined by Provazníkova, Dukelská třída and Svitavské nábřeží streets. In these days there are mostly located brownfields of the previous industry parks, storage spaces and development of family houses. The design puts emphasis on the gentle merge with the urban structure of the old Husovice and focuses on using modern architectonic and urban approaches as well, for example on multifunctionality of buildings. The riverbank is revitalised and attractive features are designed here, like the footbridges conneting both river sides and sittable stairs. These designs provide space for leisure time and a water control during the floods as well. The traffic solution is concerned on the design of the new Nová Dukelská street, connecting formerly Zbrojovka industry park and Provazníkova street.

The objektive of my work is creating of financing building stadium proposal, which is determined mainly for VSK VUT Brno Alligators team purposes.
