The Bachelor thesis consists of two main parts - the first one is a translation of two chapters from a French publication called L'épopée du jazz. Du blues au bop, the second one presents a commentary of the translation. The source text ranks among popular science books dealing with the history of jazz music. The translation comprises the first and the fifth chapter of the source text describing the origins of jazz music and the style called bop. In the commentary, the source text is analysed from the textual and contextual point of view, and diverse problems of translation and their solutions are examined.

The aim of this Master Thesis is to present an annotated literary translation of two chapters of the novella Vstrecha from Maxim Osipov's book, Grech zhalovatsya. The first part of this Master Thesis contains a translation of selected chapters from the novella Vstrecha. The second part, a commentary on the translation, includes information about the author and his work, style classification, the role of translation, vocabulary, intertextuality, characterization of translation methods, strategy of solving translation problems and typology of translation shifts.

This bachelor thesis consists of two parts: practical and theoretical. The practical part consists of the translation of the introduction and a few chapters from Parques nacionales iberoamericanos II from Spanish to Czech. The book, written by the Spanish author Luis Blas Aritio, follows the first volume from the two-volume series called Parques nacionales iberoamericanos and presents to the reader the natural, and partially also the cultural, wealth of Iberian America through an enumeration and description of the most significant and the most representative national parks that were founded until the end of 1980s. The second, theoretical part of this thesis consists of a translation-oriented text analysis based on Christiane Nord's model, a chapter on the method of translation, a commentary on the translation problems and their solutions and a typology of shifts in the translation. This bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: the practical part and the theoretical part. The practical part consists of the translation of the book De chile, de dulce y de manteca edited by Karla Paola Vázquez from Spanish to Czech. The book was published in the 2007 by the Otras Inquisiciones publisher and was made part of the reader's collection of non-fiction texts released by the magazine Algarabía. The topic of the book is the origin of mexican dining, mexican national traditions, favourite meals and drinks and oral proverbs, sayings and history related to gastronomy. The theoretical part consists of the translation analysis of the original text that takes as the model the methodology by Christiane Nord, the method of translating, the analysis of the problems created during the process of translating and their solution and is finally concluded with the bibliography.

This bachelor thesis is comprised of two parts. The first part is practical and it is represented by a translation of several chapters from La cerámica precolombina: el barro que los indios hicieron arte written by Emma Sánchez Montañés. The text was translated from Spanish to Czech and it describes historical development of ceramics in Latin America. The second part of the thesis is theoretical and it is formed by a linguistic commentary of the translation. It consists of a translation-oriented text analysis made according to Nord's model, a chapter about the method of translation, a description of translation problems on several different levels and their solutions, and a typology of shifts in the translation.
