The issue of communication between a nurse and a child patient with hyperactivity syndrome
BUGOŠOVÁ, Klára
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of communication between a nurse and a child with the hyperactivity syndrome (ADHD). The aim of this thesis was to determine the most common mistakes that occur during the communication between a nurse and an ADHD child. We also aimed to discover the barriers of communication between a child patient with hyperactivity syndrome and a nurse, map the nurses' knowledge of the appropriate way of communication when approaching a child with ADHD as well as to analyse the parent´s experiences when communicating within the nursing care. To achieve these goals, we chose three research questions: What barriers occur in communication between a nurse and a child patient with ADHD? What kind of knowledge do the nurses have concerning the appropriate way of communicating when approaching a child with ADHD? What kind of experiences do the parents of a child with ADHD have concerning the communication within the nursing care? To carry out the research, we have chosen a qualitative approach using semi-structured interview. The research sample consisted of 8 subjects nurses working either in a paediatric ward or in the general practitioner's office for children and adolescents and 8 family members with a child suffering from ADHD. The results of the research show that difficulties in communication between a nurse and a child with ADHD occur from the point of view of both parties: the nurses as well as the family members. In addition, the research has revealed the most common barriers that occur during this kind of communication. The child´s and parent's behaviour were marked as the most frequent issue. The nurses' statements were confirmed by the research itself. However, most parents shared negative experiences not only with nurses but also with other non-medical staff. Our research opens up space for a deeper study that focuses on other workers rather than nurses in order to create more effective ways of communication with a child patient suffering from ADHD.

The data obtained evaluating the statistical method of chi square test, which I will verify pre-established hypotheses of work. The obtained results are evaluated and interpreted.
Mumps among adolescents and young adults.
BÖHMOVÁ, Monika
Objectives of the work The aim of the work was to determine the course of mumps in adolescents and young adults and to map the specifics of nursing care in adolescents and young adults from the point of view of nurses of general practitioners. The following research questions have been chosen: What was the course of mumps in adolescents and young adults? What are the specifics of nursing care in adolescents and young adults from the point of view of nurses of general practitioners? Methods used To supply the necessary information was elected qualitative research using in-depth interviews with patients who have had mumps and nurses working with general practitioners for adults or children and adolescents. Interviews were captured by a recorder, recorded on the phone or written, and processed by direct transcription. Results The rewritten interviews were subjected to detailed analysis by open coding, using the paper and pencil method. From the data analysis, a total of six categories were formed, divided into two groups: Nurse interviews and Interviews with patients with mumps. Categories from interviews with nurses are: Vaccination, Measures in mumps, Mumps course according to nurses. The categories of interviews with mumps patients are: Collaboration with medical staff, Patient information and vaccine used, and Mumps course in patients with mumps. The individual categories are assigned subcategories, which are encoded to important information and all are included and illustrated in the various schemes. Conclusion From interviews with respondents, we found out how mumps had progressed by adolescents and young adults. It was found that half the respondents had more serious complications, but without lasting consequences, just in one case, the hearing remained impaired, the other serious complications after the cure disappeared. For nurses the result showed what are the specifics of nursing care in adolescents and young adults from the point of view of nurses practitioners. In the main issue, all nurses were oriented correctly. We have found that nurses have a minimum of experience with this disease because they have encountered it sporadically in their practice, and they know it only theoretically, although the incidence of mumps has increased in recent years and nurses should gain more experience. This finding may result in insufficient awareness of compliance with all treatment measures. The results obtained suggest that it would be advisable for doctors and their nurses who did not experience this disease to attend an education seminar focused on mumps, their symptoms, treatment, possible complications and anti-epidemic measures, with which the nursing care of mumps is related.

Nutrition and drinking regime of nurses on selected wards
Neradová, Anna ; Lukášová Jeřábková, Lenka (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with eating and drinking regime of nurses on selected Wards. I chose this topic because I think it is very actual and it is important to talk about it. Nursing job is very demanding in many ways. The shift work is very hard and it can significantly interfers into life quality of nurses. Disruption of the cirkadial rhythm can result in sleeping disorders and many serious diseases. It is very often that to those difficulties contributes nutrition and eating regime. The chosen example of nurses were working in days and nights shifts. The main goal of this study was to survey the eating and drinking habits of nurses working two shifts. The partial goals of this research were to find out the dietary conditions of nurses working two shifts, to determine whether if there is any increase / decrease in body weight (more than five kilograms) from taking up the present job, if sisters in two shifts eat regularly five recommended doses. Then to determine how many nurses from the research sample suffer from digestive and dyspeptic difficulties and to find out if they drink recommended amount of fluids during their work. The research was conducted within the framework of an unnamed hospital in Prague. The data were collected using non-standardized anonymous questionnaire of our own...
Occupational regulation and its influence on the labor market: evidence from reforms in the Czech Republic
Ptáčníková, Marie ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (advisor) ; Gok, Ugur (referee)
This thesis examines the impact of a 2004 reform that increased educational requirements for a regulated profession, namely nurses, on earnings level for both waged and salaried employees, and employment within nurse profession in the Czech Republic. Recently, a reform in the opposite direction regarding educational requirements for general nurses is in the approval process. It makes this analysis relevant. Similar country-based studies contracted by the European Commission regarding occupational regulation show mixed results, what additionally motivates this study. To identify effects of the reform a linear probability model and a difference-in-differences analysis were used. Empirical results suggest a negative effect on nurses' salaries with respect to doctors. In the case of wages, the effect appears to be fluctuating. As for the employment, a decrease in the probability of pursuing a nurse profession was identified for the years following the reform, but mostly insignificant. In general, this thesis shows that the reform had slightly negative short-term effect on nurses' earnings and employment levels. Due to few after-reform yearly observations it is challenging to make long-term conclusions.
