Bohatý, Pavel ; Malá, Jitka (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Author: Bc. Pavel Bohatý Title: Comparison of the effects of manual techniques and radial shock waves in the area of the myofascial trigger point. Objectives: The main focus of this thesis is to compare the effect of treatment using radial shock wave and selected manual techniques. Methods: In this diploma thesis, the Wagner FDIX Force digital pressure algometer was first used to evaluate the effectiveness of both experimental methods to examine the pressure pain threshold, then a Visual Analogue Scale for pain and a two-arm goniometer to examine range of motion to the lateroflexion of cervical spine to opposite side from the occurring MTrp. The outcome data was stored in Microsoft Excel 365. Basic descriptive statistic was used for data analysis using mean values, medians, standard deviations, etc. Due to the heterogeneity of input values in both groups, a regression model and nonparametric Mann-Whitney U-test was used. The significance level for statistical tests was set at α = 0.05. Results: A total of 31 probands were involved in the research, of which 16 underwent radial shock wave therapy and 15 using manual techniques. A statistically significant improvement was measured in the group undergoing radial shock wave therapy in the examination of the pressure pain threshold at the 1st session (by...
The effect of chosen manual techniques on static and dynamic postural stability in physiotherapy students
Hrmová, Jana ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Opatrná Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: The effect of chosen manual techniques on static and dynamic postural stability in physiotherapy students. Aims: The main aim of this study is to assess the effect of chosen manual techniques on participants' static and dynamic postural stability. Summary: The study was done from May to December 2019. A total of 100 subjects aged 19-38years took part in the study. Participants were randomly divided into two groups - experimental and control. Postural stability was measured by the following tests: Star Excursion Balance test, Unipedal Stance test, Timed Up and Go test and Sit to Stand test. These standardised measurements were taken before intervention, after intervention and a week from intervention. Experimental group undertook the intervention by manual techniques, which took 20 minutes. Outcomes were written into recording sheets. Final data were processed using Microsoft Excel 2013, IBM SPSS Statistics V26 and TIBCO Statistica 13.3.0. To calculate differences, the following statistical methods were used: Shapiro-Wilk test, independent T-test and Mann-Whitney U test. To measure effect size, Cohen's d was used. The level of statistical significance was determined to α = 0,05. The clinical significance was assessed by these levels: d = 0,2-0,49 (small effect), d = 0,5-0,79 (medium effect),...

Title: The effect of using massage techniques on the mental state of pregnant women Objectives: The objective of this bachelor thesis was to observe the effect of periodical massages of the neck, conducted over a period of three months, on the mental state of pregnant women and on pain and muscle tension in the area of the neck. Methods: The surveyed group in this bachelor thesis consisted of 12 healthy women in their second trimester of pregnancy, between the ages of 22-38, six of which were in the research group with intervention and six of which were in the control group without intervention. The intervention consisted of a series of 6 light 20 minute massages, once every two weeks, over a period of 3 months. The effect of the intervention was monitored with the help of a visual analog scale (VAS) before the massage, immediately after the massage, and one day after the massage, a POMS questionnaire at the beginning and end of the experiment, and a written reflection in the form of a questionnaire with open questions after the completion of the experiment. Results: The results of pain assessment with the help of the VAS in the women of the research group showed a reduction of neck pain after the massage (the average number before the massage was 3,04, immediately after the massage 2,05, after 1...

Mukhtar, Mahera ; Maršáková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Mikulášová, Markéta (referee)
"Physiotherapy Case Study of Rheumatoid Arthritis." The following Bachelor thesis case study was taken place at the Institute of Rheumatology, Prague, Czechia, for 2 weeks of period. The practice was carried under the supervision and guidance of Markéta Mikulášová. The main objective of this case study is to analyse the diagnosis of the patient with rheumatoid arthritis. Physiotherapeutic planned methods were executed on the rheumatoid arthritis patient to reach an optimal healthy state of the patient and to prevent any further complications. The thesis is divided into two main parts. Firstly, the Theoretical part which includes basic general outlook of the disease rheumatoid arthritis. Secondly, the main Practical part of the thesis, which includes the overall analyse of the patient with rheumatoid arthritis. Containing all the physiotherapy examinations required regarding the disease, followed by the therapy sessions done to achieve all the goals that were deducted from the examination, final physiotherapy examination in order to compare the changes or goals achieved from the initial examinations and lastly the results conclusion. The main goal of the therapy was to reduce the pain of the patient, improve the ROM especial of the hands for the ADL and delay the progressions of the deformity. The...
