Attitudes of local people and visitors towards Wolf (Canis lupus) in Šumava mountains and its surrounding.
KOLÁŘ, Miroslav
In the Czech Republic, the gradual return of carnivores, including wolves, can be observed in recent years. These carnivores are mainly found in the border areas of the Czech Republic, and it is no different in the Šumava, where they returned after years of retreat in 2015 and today they regularly reproduce here. The return of wolves brings many positive responses from the conservationists of nature and the general public. However, for some people wolves are the cause of fear. The aim of this work was to find out how the presence of wolves perceive the local inhabitants of Šumava and the surrounding Šumava, and what opinions visitors have. The data was obtained using a questionnaire survey conducted by field survey and in the form of online questionnaire sharing. The output of the work was the graphic processing of individual questions of the questionnaire and to compare the results with previous opinion polls about large carnivores. It was found that visitors on average showed more positive opinions to the wolves than the locals. At the end of the thesis there are some recommendations that could help improving the attitude to wolves and their acceptance in the surrounding landscape.

Controversy about Šumava: Strengths and weaknesses of the ecological principle of consensus
Chomátová, Eliška ; Stöckelová, Tereza (advisor) ; Čermák, Daniel (referee)
The thesis is based on a qualitative research realized in summer 2008 in several municipalities in Šumava. Focus groups organized within this research aimed at the relationship of different stakeholders to the Šumava National Park and more generally to nature and environmentalist thoughts and actors. The research design and the data gathered are presented in the introduction. Then the theory of general principles of consensus is described, which serves as the main theoretical framework for the study of focus groups participants' arguments. Using particular arguments, I show that against the protection of nature as it is realized by Šumava National Park Authority, critical citizens build their arguments on values that are considered legitimate and important in Czech society. The next part of the thesis studies the ecological principle of consensus as a new general principle of consensus: I discuss the conditions for existence of such a principle, its form in the controversy about the management of Šumava and the implications its form can have, supporting broader acceptance of the principle or, on the contrary, its rejection. An important point there is the relationship between expertise and participation, which are, together with the concept of nature, main elements of the ecological principle of...
Local people and national parks: Šumava and Pelister in comparative perspective
Petrova, Saška ; Čihař, Martin (advisor) ; Těšitel, Jan (referee) ; Cudlínová, Eva (referee)
People's views towards national parks have been reshaped since the designation of Yellowstone, the first national park in the world. Faced with the necessity to protect nature, on the one hand, and the lack of financial and human resources, on the other, national park administrations are forced to find creative ways to improve local resident participation in park management. Thus, determining the factors responsible for the changes in people's perceptions and attitudes has become one of the priority activities in the creation and implementation of the management strategies in national parks. This research investigates the local residents' perception of, and attitudes towards, nature protection and local development in two national parks: Pelister National Park in Macedonia and Šumava National Park in the Czech Republic. It analyses the significance of the residents' place attachment as a factor in creation of their attitudes and perceptions. The study supplements previous similar research carried on in these two parks and as such explores potential trends and changes in their management practices, especially the issues related to residents' involvement. Data are collected with the aid of a standardised questionnaire undertaken in two years in each park. The strength of people's connections to, or...

Military nurses role during nursing care of civilian inhabitants and soldiers in foreign military operations
KRATOŠKOVÁ, Tereza
We have determined three research questions: 1. Do the injured and ill civil people perceive the difference in the care provided by a man or a woman? 2. Does the health care staff respect the religion of the Kosovan people? 3. Do the injured and ill soldiers perceive the difference in the care provided by a man or a woman? To obtain the answers we used the asking metod during the interview. We chose six groups of injured and sick people who were taken care of in Kosovo. In the first group there were soldiers of the Czech army- 7 men, in the second group there were 5 women. In the third group there were men from the military health care personnel- 7 men, the fourth group included military health care staff- 5 women. In the last two groups there were local Kosovans- 5 men and 5 women. Hypothesis were established on the basis of the analysis: H1: Injured and sick civil people feel the difference between a nurse man and a nurse woman. H2: The health care personnel respects the religion of the Kosovan people. H3: Wounded and ill soldiers perceive the difference between a male nurse and a female nurse. Results of this work can be used for the preparation of the soldiers before they go on a foreign mission or as study material in the nurses training and presentations. It can help to improve the health care during the foreign missions.
