Air quality as a topic for complex learning tasks in chemistry education
Víšková, Vanesa ; Janoušková, Svatava (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on creating learning tasks, including determining their difficulty levels. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to expanding the portfolio of educational materials, specifically tasks at the grammar school level, to develop students' scientific literacy. The thesis presents three developed complex learning tasks, which were evaluated by a focus group for cognitive difficulty, content adequacy, and attractiveness. The results indicate that most tasks are suitable for high school education. The thesis also includes a discussion on the importance of scientific literacy in the context of PISA study and its situation among students in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the thesis analyzes the Framework Educational Programme for Gymnasiums (RVP G) regarding the topic of air quality and provides theoretical foundations for creating complex learning tasks. The thesis also contributes to linking chemistry education with the cross-curricular theme of environmental education, as outlined in the RVP G. Key Words Air quality, learning tasks, PISA survey, chemistry education.
Biomimetics and its Incorporation into High School Teaching through Learning Tasks
Suldovská, Eva ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
The main aim of this thesis was to create and practically test four sets of complex learning tasks intended for pupils in the second year of high school. The tasks are focused on the development of science literacy using the topic of biomimetics. The starting point for the development of the learning tasks was a literature review dealing with topics of biomimetics, subject integration, science literacy and learning tasks. Biomimetics is a multidisciplinary science based on the observation of nature and searching for inspiration in nature in order to find solutions to problems that people face in life. Due to the topicality, practical overlap and interdisciplinary nature of this field, the topic of biomimetics is an excellent tool for applying integrated learning concepts (e.g. STEM concept) into teaching or for developing science literacy. In this work, created complex learning tasks containing three subtasks each were validated in three second-year classes of selected high schools. The pupils' responses to the created tasks and the responses from the attitudinal questionnaires were analyzed using mixed research methods. Statistical methods (arithmetic mean, relative frequency, success rate) were used for quantitative evaluation. The method of inductive analysis of written gathered data was used...
Analysis of students' results in solving of selected tasks used in the Biological Olympiad
BEJDOVÁ, Radka
This bachelor thesis is focused on the didactic analysis of selected tasks from the Biological Olympiad. It tries to clarify the success and failure of students in the district and regional rounds of the competition. Bachelor thesis also tries to find out the reasons why students made a mistake. The results of the didactic analysis are written in tables. Finally, it considers the integration of these tasks into school lessons.
Elaboration of Learning Problem-Tasks from the Field of Chemistry
Vojíř, Karel
This thesis deals with the elaboration of learning problem-tasks related to the Standards for elementary education in the field of Chemistry. The author of this thesis worked on this topic within a project under National Institute for Education. The starting point for creating the tasks, illustrating and concretely expounding the Standards is the concept of science literacy. In this principle in chemistry instruction a broader context and a transfer to everyday life are applied. Learning tasks were created on the base of: science literacy and the results of Czech pupils in its testing, context of standards in Czech curricular system, elements of problem-based learning, types of learning tasks and cognitive parameters. During the elaboration of the tasks a pilot testing of selected learning tasks was realized. The results of the pilot testing were used in further designing more problem-tasks to cover one expected outcome in every topic of Chemistry within the elementary school curriculum. According to the methodology described in this thesis, a material named Methodical comments and tasks to the standards for primary education - Chemistry was created. This material contains a coherent set of learning problem-tasks illustrating two- thirds of the indicators from the standards for elementary education...

Scientific literacy and its development by using learning tasks in Chemistry for ISCED 2 level
Distler, Petr ; Teplý, Pavel (advisor) ; Klečková, Marta (referee) ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (referee)
The objective of the dissertation was to assess the suitability of the scientific literacy development by using learning tasks in chemistry classes for ISCED 2. By comparing the learning tasks types in commercial workbooks and in the international assessment PISA, a significant difference in their structure was found out. Although the Czech Republic has undertaken to participate in the PISA project, Czech teachers have a different type of teaching tasks commonly available in their workbooks than the pupils afterwards solve in the PISA project. PISA's released and author's learning tasks were compiled into authentic workbooks. They were used in chemistry classes during the school year 2016/2017. Based on the pupils' results in the final assignments, all groups of grammar school pupils from experimental groups achieved better results in solving multicomponent learning tasks than the control group. However, the results of elementary schools pupils were significantly worse at final test scores than at initial ones, which was explained by the entire loss of their motivation to study. Pupils rated motivation to work with multicomponent tasks above average. They were fully aware of the importance and usefulness of solving multicomponent learning tasks, and, therefore, they solved them with proper...
