Pavel Michna of Vacínov
Bouček, Jan ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Zdichynec, Jan (referee)
There are only a few works available dealing with the Czech Early New Times and not mentioning the name of Pavel Michna z Vacínova. The man who succeeded in overcoming barriers of his middle class origin and making himself an indispensable advisor to top representatives of the Czech Kingdom and even Emperor Ferdinand II and to manage elevation to Imperial Earldom towards the end of his life. Michna, a butcher's son from Budyně nad Ohří, became thanks to patronage of the High Chancellor of the Czech Kingdom Zdeněk Vojtěch Popel z Lobkowicz in the early part of the 17th century the Czech Kingdom Court Office Secretary and reinforced a group of catholic militants who gradually started to exploit the Czech Kingdom Court Office for the benefit of their own influence at the expense of Protestant majority. Even though Michna had signed the Imperial Charter of Rudolf II that guaranteed all subjects in the Kingdom freedom of worship, he alone prosecuted Protestants during his office period in the Czech Kingdom Court Office and was aiming to restrict their rights. The hate of Protestants against Michna culminated on May 23, 1618, when he should have been one of the victims of the Defenestration of Prague. He had learned of plans of the plotters on time and rescued himself fleeing to Vienna to the Imperial...
Land reform during the First Republic
Peichlová, Adéla ; Kuklík, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Ladislav (referee)
The topic of my thesis is "Land reform during the First Republic", which proceeded in our state from the year 1919 till the year 1935. The land reform contained an element of the confiscation and expropriation, so I integrated in the introduction of my thesis the explanation and short overview of process and history of these two institutes, which represent the most important intervention of the states to the landed property. After that I focused on the alterations of the lands, their history and importance. The main part of my thesis deals with the land reform, especially the preconditions and the reasons, why our state decided to carry out so important and forward change of the landed property and different conceptions and views of the political parties. The next part of my thesis is focused on the laws, which deal with main problems and issues of the land reform, and on the pursuance of the land reform in practice. I didn't miss out include in my thesis neither results of this reform nor the criticism and appreciation of this reform. In my opinion this reform poses important component of the coup and one of the most important tasks, which the new independent state had to fulfil to stabilize the internal situation in the land.
Marie Magdaléna Trčková of Lípa
Mikysková, Jitka ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Zdichynec, Jan (referee)
Marie Magdaléna Trčková of Lípa The present paper deals with the personality of early 17th century Czech noblewoman Marie Magdaléna Trčková of Lípa (1569 - 1633). Based on the available sources and literature, this work attempts to reconstruct the life and career of this important aristocrat. Unfortunately, the preserved sources are very scant. Trčkov archive as such does not exist. Thus the present paper had to be based on various editions of the sources, especially on works by Josef Pekař and Josef Janáček. Marie Magdaléna, born to the Lobkowitz family, has been married to Jan Rudolf Trčka of Lípa. Both spouses were economically very active and skilled managers. They never used to be politically active before the battle of Bílá Hora, and they attempted to assume a neutral and cautious attitude after the Prague defenestration. The individual chapters of this work deal with the family life, children, friends, economic activity and political attitudes of Marie Magdaléna Trčková in the context of the end of 16th century and the first few decades of the 17th century. Periods of her life are sorted chronologically, from her youth, marriage, family life, and her attitude both before Bílá Hora, as well as, more importantly, after the battle, when the house of Trček became greatly enriched by purchasing the...
Confiscations after battle of Bílá hora in cities on the example of Old Town in Prague
Sojková, Alena ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Bacík, Radek (referee)
This text deals with process of confiscations after battle of Bílá hora with the aim at sanctions on cities and their city-dwellers and focuses above all on Prague cities, concretely on Old Town of Prague. In the text, there is outlined the general course of the events after lost battle, which finally result in sanctions of property. The text focused on a work of two commissions, enforcement (executionary) commission and confiscatory commission, whose interference with property structure was probably the strongest; partly it covers also executions after an exit of persons from country for reasons of religion, thus after publication od Obnovené zřízení zemské (may translated as Redefined municipal constitution). In a question of enforcement commission the text concentrates rather on financial incidence than scaffolds itself, which are mentioned only marginally (number of executions, which city-dwellers were executed atc.). Every type of sanction (execution, release from prison, penalty etc.) is then illustrated on cases of city-dwellers of Old Town in Prague, that were participants of this processes. In every type one or two cases are chosen, which are analysed in more details, careers of others punished like that (or finally unpunished) are noticed only with relation to amount and enumeration of...
Changes in inhabitants and property conditions on the Czech-German border area during the years 1945 - 1953 - confiscations, rations and leaving assignment using the example of cadastral community Cudrovice
ČADOVÁ, Aneta
Bachelor thesis called "Changes in inhabitants and property conditions on the Czech-German border area during the years 1945 - 1953 - confiscations, rations and leaving assignment using the example of cadastral community Cudrovice." In my work I engaged in documentation on the base of accessible archives from breaking moment in post-war evolution of Cudrovice-municipality and Plešivec-settlement, which led gradually to their very last end. This is the question to express living conditions of original German after the ending of the Second World War, their denotation as "publicly unreliable individuals" and the confiscation of their possessions itself. The only exception was Šrajer's family, which had lived there both before the war and after it, therefore it was the only link among local oldsettled people and new settlement. Just new settlement brought to life these places at least for a while. Their destiny connected with these places is fundamental part of my work. The new settlement was examined both by political background and unfavourable economic conditions of Šumava foothills. One and the other caused their leaving and consequently end of Cudrovice and Plešivec. The work is completed by also important part of common historical events and prescriptive sources, related to subject of my work and particulars contemporary cadastral maps, photographs charged to provide factual form to amorphous places, events and names. Modern photographs support reality of extinction of Cudrovice and partial extinction of Plešivec.
Confiscation of Industrial Property of Sudeten Germans after 1945 for example Rumburk
Krumlová, Vendula ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Kozmanová, Irena (referee)
Bachelor thesis called "Confiscation of Industrial Property of Sudeten Germans after 1945 for example Rumburk" will primarily deal with the transformation of property rights in the postwar period, since this topic is still the most controversial issue of modern Czechoslovak history. In the introduction of the paper I will examine the legal and political circumstances of the withdrawal of Germans and the confiscation of their property. The core work will be about microhistorik analysis of confiscation on the example of a company Rumburk RINCO Werke. I want to focus primarily on the following questions: How was the confiscation made, what was its course? Was there a plan under which the confiscation was executed? What did it leed to? What were its consequences? How the national manager was chosen? My work will be based on the original hypothesis that the seizure had taken place according to some fixed plan, but it was performed fitfully and unsystematically, which gave plenty of room for a variety of illegal transfers of property. My work will be also based on archive records, legal regulations and on the latest literature and sources.
The confiscation of German borderland agriculture property and its following redistribution to new Czechoslovakian inhabitans
Hájková, Kateřina ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Zdenka (referee)
This study represents an attempt to assess the situation in Czechoslovakia after the Second World War in consequence of the expulsion of Sudeten Germans from Czech borderland. It summarizes the overall contribution and the effectiveness of individual measures and legal amendments proposed by the government in order to permit the confiscation of German property and its redistribution to new Czech inhabitants. The main aim of this work is to find certain imperfections in the process (probably caused by the speed with which the decrees passed), as well as to draw the attention to the fact that the security, political and national interests became the national priorities in post-war period, at the expense of Czechoslovak economy.
