The diploma thesis deals with railway transport describes its role in combined transport and compare key aspects with road transport. As part of the diploma thesis, a detailed database of railway tracks in the Czech Republic was created, on which the route planner was built with the possibility of setting waypoints. The route planner also includes the implementation of exclusion activities. A comprehensive technical-economic model of railway transport was created with four calculation models and detailed investment planning, thanks to which is possible to assess whether the purchase or lease of train sets is more advantageous when making investment decisions. Furthermore, a technical-economic model for the branch line was created. The last section deals with the created transport model for the catchment area for 8 localities and 5 types of transported waste/commodities. The transport model was used to evaluate two selected areas – the South Moravian Region and Kolín.

Possibilities of Combined Transport Development Funding

The main aim od the thesis is to analyze the combined transport in the kontext of its development. Financing of transport is very important, and therefore this work is focused primarily on where the funding comes from.The first part deals with support and development of the combined transport and may be realized through transport infrastructure funding. The second part is focused on analysis of the present state of the combined transport and possibilities of the development . During the analysis are also compared funding sources and the potential costs of combined transport. The conclusion is sub-objective work including proposals leading to the development of combined transport. The main proposal is to establish and issue uniform legislative regulations on the use of transhipments in the Czech Republic with free access guarantee.

Potential of public logistics centres in rail transport in the Czech Republic

In times when capacities of roads are starting to run out, it is necessary to search for any alternatives with environmental protection in mind. One of the options is to move some of the road freight transport to railways. One of the possible ways to achieve it is by using Public logistics centres. This concept is already in use in Western Europe and the demand for building terminals of combined transport is growing in the Czech Republic as well. The goal of this thesis is to evaluate the potential of PLC and its influence on the regional development based on information from other countries. In the thesis, theoretical aspects of infrastructure investment and predicted effects of localization into targeted regions are assessed. Outcomes of this research are weaknesses and suggestions for potential implementation of this concept in the Czech Republic.

Combined transport in the Czech Republic

The part of this thesis is concern to describe primary terms of combined transport next part evaluate current condition in the Czech Republic and potentialities of extensions. Locate current docks and terminals and examine his funkcionality and capacity.
With using programme ArcGIS chart terminals and find out his localization requirements which will be used to situate new terminals of combined transport in the end of this thesis. New terminals will be situated with development principles of every region. Development principles will be properly tested and analysed.

Promotion of the Intermodal transport in the European union

The thesis deals with an intermodal transport and its development within the European Union. The aim of this work is to analyze the current state of EU transport infrastructure and transport modes. According to these information the paper assess the benefits of this traffic and barriers hampering its development. The aim of the thesis is also to find out how is intermodal transport supported by European Union. The paper focuses on the characteristics of various transport modes and identifies major bottlenecks in the functioning of intermodal transport. The paper approaches the activities of the EU, its main objectives in the field of transport and a relation between intermodality and Union's goals. In conclusion of the thesis, there are discussed the advantages and benefits of intermodal transport, barriers and projects that has helped remove these barriers.

Road and railway transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic

The thesis focuses on transport infrastructure in the Czech republic. Its aiming at road, railway and combined infrastucture.It analyzes its current situation and short historical development. There is analysis focused on the density of infrastructure in european conditions and national regions in Czech Rep. Further, it analyzes the transport overload on chosen roads. Sugested solution is to move the road freigth to railway through combined transportation. Cost savings coming from lower reconstruction costs are calculated as well. In the end, there is proposal about implementation of combined transport in the region as a regional logistic center.

Conditions of cargo transportation in the Czech Republic

The main objective of this study is the comparison of the conditions for providing public cargo transport services with company's own transport, based on examples of company subjects in Czech Republic. Study focus on the road cargo and combined road-rail transport as a widespread logistics services. This study is based on structured interviews with managers of companies and questionnaire survey. The surveyed companies were P&V Elektronic s r. o. and FCT Electronics Group. Further cooperation was established with company RÁDL as a provider of public cargo services and from the field of combined road-rail transport informations were provided by company BOHEMIAKOMBI.

Current trends in multimodal transport with a focus on EU

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the current situation of multimodal transport with a focus on the European Union, to describe the current concept of the Common Transport Policy and its main objectives and priorities for the future development. Further, to analyze the progress of the project Trans-European transport network with a focus on priority projects supporting the development of multimodal transport in the EU. One of the aims of this thesis is to outline the potential of the continental combined transport as an alternative option to multimodal transport and to focus on its current problems hampering the future prosperity of this new mode of transport.
