The main focus of this thesis is to form a strategy of development of a small LLC company called ABC. The strategic analysis included in this thesis shows the company’s position on the market and its main advantages. The thesis provides a complex strategy of further development according to the corporate vision and the strategic objectives of ABC including the aspects of functional strategies and a detailed schedule of its implementation.

The diploma thesis deals with access of small and medium enterprises operating in the field of furniture production to internal factors of success. From the analysis of domestic and foreign literature and scientific works, thirteen hypotheses were pronounced, which were further tested. In order to fulfill the main objective of the work, ie to identify the differences in the attitude of SMEs operating in the Czech Republic and SMEs operating abroad, primary data collection was carried out. Both quantitative and qualitative investigations were performed. These results together with a brief description of the current situation of SMEs in the Czech Republic and furniture production were the main part of my thesis. The secondary objective was to propose SME recommendations for furniture manufacturers.

Diploma thesis deals with the key success factors of engineering enterprises which determine their success. The significant part of the thesis is focused on the identification and characterization of key success factors of engineering enterprises and the definition of the successful enterprise. In order to specify the key success factors an extensive study of the domestic and especially foreign latest knowledge and scientific papers was performed and also an own quantitative survey with experts and successful engineering enterprises was conducted. A case study was also carried out to identify the key success factors in the conditions of the selected enterprise and to generalize for the engineering industry and enterprise. The findings were implemented in the process of designing and developing the business strategy of the selected engineering enterprise leading to the improvement of the current market position and the further successful development of this enterprise.

Management theories and their using in practice

In my diploma thesis I have described several management theories and concepts used in practice and illustrated them with examples from the practice. The theory does not always coincide fully with the praxis, there are rather some common points. Both the company I write about and its management system are very specific, therefore it is a very interesting example, but not generally predicative. I would be glad if this thesis could also serve as a well- arranged material for the people in our company. In the theoretical part I have treated the management theory first in general and then several particular theories or concepts which I examined more deeply. These are the manager theory, the motivation theory, critical success factors, management by objectives, knowledge management. The empirical part concerns the practical use of these theories the company of my interest. The whole thesis is thematically wide, but the extent is limited here. Therefore it does not contain whole descriptions of the theories, but rather insights and some chosen elements. Also the empirical part does not fully examine the function system of the company and the work in it, but chooses the elements corresponding with the theoretical concepts described instead.

Development of concept Blue Ocean strategy

The subject of this thesis are two terms, start-ups and strategies blue oceans. The aim is therefore to realize characteristic development of the strategy and the concept of start-up and subsequent analysis of the key success factors of start-ups, in correspondence to the strategy. Output objective is to formulate recommendations on the business segment, investors. The above primary terms are initially defined and subsequently integrated in terms of the practical analysis selected start-ups, which is also based design of this work. The work was divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part identifies and traces the development of the strategic concept at the time, according to the primary authors of publications strategy. Then I present the designation start-up and subsequent key factors. Subsequent practical part is converted, through analysis and comparison, theoretical background in practice. This section presents the start-ups Crowdholding and Emuj and subsequently evaluated their key success factors. In another part I implements assessment of the factors of their success in terms of key aspects of the Blue Ocean strategy. Outputs are recommendations for potential investors in terms of controversy over business plans. The conclusion summarizes the theoretical and practical part of the thesis.
