Key topics of selected reading-book texts and its interpretation using the Philosophy for Children method
MEDALOVÁ HŮDOVÁ, Václava
The aim of the thesis is to answer the research questions "What key themes do students identify using the Philosophy for Children method in selected texts in the elementary school reader for the second grade?" and "How do students interpret selected texts through these concepts?" The theoretical section focuses on the general concept of interpretation and the connection of interpretation with the Philosophy for Children method, whose principles are subsequently explained through practical examples. The thesis also includes a characterization of the selected age group of students who were part of the research. Adolescents are described not only from the perspective of developmental psychology but especially as readers, with the area of their reading interests being examined. For example, book borrowings among adolescent readers in libraries are analyzed. The research section offers an analysis of philosophical discussions in which students attempted to find key themes in selected texts from the reader.
The Understood Author: A hermeneutical exploration of audiences interpretation of the author as productive practices behind a text
Pavlíčková, Tereza ; Carpentier, Nico (advisor) ; Kuzmičová, Anežka (referee) ; Hermes, Joke (referee)
in English This project builds on the tradition of audience research that theoretically and empirically established that meaning is formed in the negotiation between the text and the reader, that the audiences are agentic, their interpretation of media is contextual and situated, and that they have the potential to resist the media. It argues that it is important to explore people's attention to different sources: who is listening, to whom, and why - and asks how people understand the notion of an author that they encounter in the interpretation of factual media texts, and how this interpretation is brought back into the interpretative act. The thesis subscribes to philosophical hermeneutics as an overarching theoretical as well as methodological framework to devise a concept of an understood author that is a result of the interpretative act, where the author imagined and anticipated by the reader (in the form of prior knowledge and prejudices) is encountered and actualised by the author inscribed into the text. I carried out 28 in-depth face-to-face interviews with Czechs born between 1948-1963 to explore participants' experiences and relationship with media and media authors. Employing hermeneutical analysis, the focus is not to capture what is an author, but how it happened to be so. The...

The dissertation thesis deals with the topic of the "afterlife" of Comenius's most notable Czech work, The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart, and the constitution of its position in the history of ideas. In six main historical periods, spreading over four centuries from the writing of the manuscript (1623) to the present day (2023), it examines the reception of the work in cultural-social and scholarly realms, traces their interaction and describes shifts in the interpretation of the work in relation to changing paradigms of the day. From the source material, it analyses primarily a wide range of various editions and translations of the work, mentions, commentaries and scholarly publications on the work and objects of artistic nature, based on which it aims at reconstructing various historical images of the work, which symbolically and factually accompanied the Czech society in its historical transformations. The work contains the most complete list of Czech editions and translations of the work and relevant secondary literature to date. It was written on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the work.

Petri Net Interpreter for Control Systems with Atmel Processor
Minář, Michal ; Kočí, Radek (referee) ; Janoušek, Vladimír (advisor)
Thesis focuses on interpretation of nested petri nets described in PNML language on Atmel processors. It introduces this limited - from memory capacity and perfomance point of views - targeted architecture, since it greatly affected both design and implementation. The interpreter is thouroughly described from all aspects of its design. One of most important concerns in the whole process was the ability to test and verify achieved state of functionality quickly and possibly without Atmel processor. That’s why the implentation took place on a squeak platform, that allowed to translate whole interpreter for targeted platform. Motivation behind this and overall process of translation is also a subject of this work.
