Testing of the accuracy of the heights determined by GNSS
Kordasová, Klára ; Drápela, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kuruc, Michal (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to test the accuracy of the heights measured by GNSS RTK with service providers CZEPOS and Trimble VRS Now. The thesis deals with precise of height measurement with the influence of surrounded obstacles, such as multipath, fading with the tall buildings, presence of high-voltage lines, limited shadow horizons at the edge of the forest, and measurement under the ideal conditions. The work also deals with the comparison of the period initialization of these monitored conditions. In the locations mentioned a network of test points was built. For measuring GNSS Leica System 1200 apparatus was used. It was measured always five times in five-second epochs and three times twenty-second epochs for each provider in five locations and thirty points during the mornings and afternoons. For independent height comparison the technical levelling was used. The outcome can be applied in practical use.
Surface depressions of the bony pelvis in relation to childbirth and pregnancy
Medvedevová, Elina ; Rmoutilová, Rebeka (advisor) ; Brůžek, Jaroslav (referee)
This bachelor's thesis describes the depressions of the pelvic bony surface, which are described in the literature as "indicators of childbirth", and summarizes the data on whether pelvic bony depressions can be associated with pregnancy and childbirth, and what other factors may be involved in the formation of these depressions. The "birth indicators" include the preauricular grooves and the dorsal fossa of the pubic bone. Historically, they have been attributed to the course of pregnancy and childbirth when physiological and hormonal changes occur. However, more recent studies and new research methods have attributed the development of these depressions not only to pregnancy but also to pelvic shape, age, increased BMI of the person, physical activity, or medical complications. A variety of factors can contribute to the development of bone surface depression in both women and men. For this reason, so-called "birth indicators" cannot be considered a reliable indicator of completed pregnancy and childbirth, and secondary use of knowledge of these depressions in sex estimation, especially by application in forensic sciences. However, it should be noted that the difference in the frequency of depression between the sexes is significant, as the incidence of such depression is more frequent and marked...
Standing Tall Pays Off: A Meta-Analysis of Height Premium
Juračková, Martina ; Havránková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Polák, Petr (referee)
As has been demonstrated by empirical research, height is an important physical feature impacting various aspects of the life of an individual. This thesis deals with the relationship between height and income, also referred to as height premium. With the help of modern meta-analytic methods, we aim to quantitatively summarize the empirical evidence on the impact of height on income. After introducing the topic of height premium, data collection and methodological framework, we test for publication bias. The analysis is conducted on 1084 height premium estimates collected from 67 studies. The results of publication bias testing indicate that height premium literature contains positive publication bias which persists even after we control for additional variables capturing study characteristics or, in other words, the heterogeneity of collected estimates. Based on Bayesian Model Averaging results, we conclude that geographical factors, the longitudinal nature of the dataset, restriction of the dataset with respect to gender, or adding a gender control variable into the regression are the most important factors explaining the variability of height premium effects.
Biomechanical characteristics in Axel Paulsen jump variations in figure skating
Hrdličková, Kristýna ; Sedláčková, Marie (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Biomechanical characteristics in Axel Paulsen jump variations in figure skating Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to measure the biomechanical characteristics (height and length) of the single Axel Paulsen jump. The jump was measured from two inputs, namely from a standing position (from zero initial velocity) and from a running position (from a single backward translation). Methods: For the thesis, a quantitative research method was used, namely the measurement of selected parameters of the Axel Paulsen single jump. The measurements were performed on a sample of 16 female figure skaters, in the age range of 10 -16 years. Bar graphs were created for each variable as part of the analysis. The best trials were always selected for quantitative analysis. Furthermore, means and standard deviations were calculated. Due to the size of the measured sample, non-parametric methods were used to test the hypotheses. The Wilcoxon matched pairs test was used, and error plots were generated. Data analysis and graphs were created using IBM SPSS Statistics 24 statistical software. Results: It was found that the single Axel Paulsen jump length values are longer in the run-up version. For the Axel Paulsen single jump height values, it was found that the jump height on the average is 0.5 cm higher in the...
Speed training in strength and conditioning preparation of youth basketball players
Janikov, Martin ; Kaplan, Aleš (advisor) ; Hojka, Vladimír (referee)
Title: Speed training in strength and conditioning preparation of youth basketball players Aims: The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the effectivity of the training program designed to focus on development of speed abilities in category under fourteen years basketball players. Secondary aims are determination of relationship between practice attendances, number of games played, changes of body height, body weight and body composition of the players on their acceleration, maximal speed and agility tests performance. Methods: For this thesis was used experimental method, which concentrated on observation of speed development in two groups of players, each with different conditions defined by training content. We used measuring, testing and interviewing for data gathering purposes. To assess the relationship between all parameters and their explanation we apply analytic and comparative methods. For evaluation of relationships was used Pearson's correlation and p-value for determination of statistical significance. Results: The main hypothesis, presuming relationship between anticipation in our training program and improvement of speed abilities, wasn't confirmed by our calculations. The results were calculated for following tests: 20 m sprint (r = -0.12, p = 0.69, n = 14), flying 15 m run...

Longitudinal Study of Children Growth in Central Bohemia and Prague with Respect to the Development of Passing Basic School Education
Povinská, Monika ; Vančata, Václav (advisor) ; Ehler, Edvard (referee)
For my dissertation, I have chosen to monitor and research growing children in Prague and in the Central Bohemian Region. Primarily, I am interested in the growth period of the younger school age (which corresponds to the first degree of compulsory school attendance). However, I also monitored and worked with the growth data of infant and pre-school aged children. The reason for this is that I needed the growth data from a longer period of time for a better assessment. I am really interested in the area of child anthropology because I belive the growth of every child is essential for their future. The final height and weight of the individual, specifically his/her total body proportions, can have a significant influence on their next life. I am convinced that this can have a major influence on the health, social application and self-confidence for each of us. Thanks to a very willing approach of a Prague pediatrician I managed to accumulate the growth data of children living in Prague. I would like to compare the obtained data with the data of children living in the Central Bohemian Region. I was able to gain the growth data of the children thanks to the friendly cooperation of my pupils'parents, my acquaintances and friends. Children were selected according to their health cards. On these cards...

Pecha, Marek ; Jebavý, Radim (advisor) ; Hojka, Vladimír (referee)
Topic: Comparison of bodytypes and proportions to performance of athletes Goal: The goal is to compare bodytypes of world elite athletes from past and present in athletic throws. Second goal is to compare weight and height in different disciplines. Methods: Research in specialized sources, analyse and comparison athletes bodytypes. Comparison of bodytypes with performances in disciplines. Results: We created a document which contain if body proportions are affecting on a throwers performance in short and long therm. From our results is obvious that hight and weight are really matters in some disciplines. We found a strong dependence in javelin throw and in shot put. In disciplines where prevails rotation moves is dependence much low or there is practicaly none. In the second part we found out differences in hight and weight in throws through the time. Key words: bodytype, long performance, athletic throws, body composition, height, weight, BMI
