Educational and activating activities of seniors in long-term care facilities in the Pilsen Region

Diploma thesis "Educational and activating activities of seniors in long-term care facilities in the Pilsen Region" in the theoretical part is devoted to the definition of old age and related aspects from the biological, psychological and social point of view. The thesis also deals with education and activation of seniors in the context of applied science discipline and organization in the Czech Republic within the framework of lifelong learning. Aspects of educational activities of seniors and specifics of their education and activation are also identified. The thesis also describes the best-known methods and techniques of seniors activation in long-term care facilities. In the empirical part, a questionnaire survey was carried out, in which the respondents were clients of retirement homes and patients of specialized hospital wards providing care to geriatric patients. At the same time, standardized interviews were conducted with workers who organize, secure or participate in activities focused on education and activation of their clients or patients. Participation of the Elderly in Education in the Context of Demographic Aging

This bachelor thesis is focused on participation of the elderly in the context of demographical ageing. The area of interest is introduced in the first part - ageing and old age, elderly education, demographical ageing, functions and significances of elderly education and educational institutions. This part is based on Czech and foreign professional literature and documents. The second part contains data concerning participation of the elderly in educational activities and an empirical survey. The survey deals with the participation of the elderly in educational activities. Also barriers, motivation and opinions of the elderly about the offer of educational activities were researched. Senior's Education and social mobilization in social facilities

The thesis is focused on Education and motivating seniors in social institutions and it aims to map the possibilities of education for older people. First the theoretical part deals with the current theme of aging, attitudes of the society to the elderly people and also a range of institutional education for seniors. It also points to the fact that the loss of self-sufficiency and social placement into a residential facility must not forcibly terminate social human activity. The author describes the possible pitfalls of seniors' position in the constitutional device, the phase of adaptation and education. Second the practical part compares the qualitative conditions, features of educational work and the satisfaction of seniors with activation - educational programs in various types of residential facilities. The important finding is that a proportionately larger capacity of facilities in increasing the range of educational programs and the satisfaction of educators with creative work. Most of the interviewed seniors are satisfied with educational programs and particularly welcomes a common form of education, aimed at the enhancement of cognitive functions.
