Selected textological aspects of french press - comparative analysis
Sovič, Pavel ; Jančík, Jiří (advisor) ; Listíková, Renáta (referee)
The focus of this thesis is centred on textology methods. These were examined in a comparative analysis of selected pieces of French press in order to determine basic composition strategies in journalistic texts. In particular, it concerns the formation of a headline in an article and its adjoining visuals as well as the whole structural framework of a newspaper. It was found that each paper maintains a certain set layout and structure in order to facilitate access to information. More specifically, the articles' structure is typically multi-layered which makes the information easier to retrieve at a higher speed of reading. Alternatively, it's the headline that has to be able to attract readers' attention and make them to read the article in its entirety. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
French press and Czechoslovakia under the Normalization
Schindlerová, Klára ; Hnilica, Jiří (advisor) ; Olšáková, Doubravka (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to map and to present the chosen themes of cultural and political scene of the Czechoslovakia under the normalization, as that they were presented in a given period and in a specific french journal. Among a great number of press published in France beween 1968 and 1989, I've chosen Le Monde as a significant journal. Firstly I expose the main problematics of my subject and I contextualize it in time and space. Then I propose a quantitative analysis, followed by an interpretation considering the cultural and political evolution in both countries. In order to complete the image of Czechoslovakia under the normalization made by media, I also use the press published by Czech and Slovak emigrants living in France. The image made by french television, whose importance grows continuously from 1970s, contibues as well to my problematic. I consider this thesis as a contribution to the Czech-French cultural relations in 1968-1989, a theme that has not been studied enough by historians.
Neology in Contemporary French Lexicon
Hánková, Anna ; Listíková, Renáta (advisor) ; Müllerová, Eva (referee)
The present thesis deals with the study of neology and neologisms in contemporary French. The theoretical part defines the concepts of neology and neologism, word-formation processes in general and specific word-formation processes classified as formal neology, semantic neology and borrowings. The empirical part describes the formation of the corpus created for the purposes of the thesis, which is based on texts selected form current French press (the daily broadsheet Le Monde and the weekly tabloid Voici). The core section of the thesis presents samples and analyses of individual word-formation processes which appeared in the author's corpus. The data are accompanied by a basic statistical analysis of the relative proportions of individual word-formation processes. The research shows that borrowings, especially those from English, represent the most frequent word-formation process in both newspapers. Borrowings constituted nearly a half of all identified neologisms (45%) in Voici and nearly one third of the neologisms (28%) in Le Monde. Picture of the political East in the caricature in the French magazine Le Cannard enchîné in 1945-1970
Walsh, Diana ; Štoll, Martin (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of caricatures with a theme of the Eastern block in French satirical weekly magazine Le Canard enchaîné in 1945-1970. By the Eastern block, we understand the Soviet Union and its associated socialistic countries. The thesis is anchored in the theoretical part by historical context of the history of the eastern countries, as well as by the development of analysed weekly magazine on the background of the history of France, by the formulation of the concepts of caricature and satire, including important authors, and the research methods themselves. Triangulation, in this case the combination of quantitative content analysis and semiotic analysis, aims to analyse individual caricatures with the theme of the East and its individual countries. The analysed periods are divided into two sections, due to the availability of materials, namely 1945-1948 and 1968-1970.

Wágnerová, Iveta ; Emler, David (advisor) ; Matějka, Ondřej (referee)
This bachelorʼs thesis focuses on media analysis, specifically the analysis of the newspaper articles of the three most important French newspapers Le Figaro, Le Monde and Libération. The thesis aims to find out how the French press evaluated Franco-German cooperation in January 2013 when the fiftieth anniversary celebrations of the Elysee Treaty were going on. The Elysee Treaty also known as the Treaty of Friendship between France and Germany was created by efforts of Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer and was signed on 22 January 1963. The thesis is divided into three chapters. It begins with the description of the process of the birh of Franco-German cooperation. Then it describes the content of the Treaty and celebrations itselfs. Next two chapters apply the quantitative analysis of media on the corpus of 37 articles. In the second chapter the thesis uses frequency analysis. It researches different categories of words and how many times these concrete words are mentioned in the articles. This method provides us with the first analytic look into the articles. The third chapter includes deeper content analysis with the help of coding analysis. There are chosen two categories - of time and of evaluation of the current (January 2013) Franco-German cooperation. The thesis sums up that the current...
