Management of a film festival and its specifics

This Master thesis explores the area of film festivals. The first section describes the film festivals and their categorization. For a better comprehension of the issues part of the work is dedicated to the general and Czech history of film festivals. The work is focused on the interest groups and their impact on the functioning of film festivals. The current situation is analyzed through a selected case of the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary. All program activities are analyzed. The work describes the processes that take place during the organization of the film festival and also explores its internal and external conditions. It presents the structure of the organization team and summarizes responsibilities of its positions.
Strategy planning of IQFF Mezipatra

The thesis aims to identify strengths and threats of the International Queer Film Festival Mezipatra using methods of strategic analysis and qualitative research and then propose a course of action in future years. The theoretical part focuses on the description of the structure of the festival, the specifics of non-profit organizations and also characterizes the selected strategic analysis procedures. In the practical part I analyze the festival through the steps of strategic analysis and also use informal talks with members of the organizing staff and my own experience with executive positions at the festival and outline the current status of activities and further direction for the festival.
The Shockproof Film Festival: case study

This bachelor thesis is devoted to a more detailed analysis of The Shockproof Film Festival. The theoretical part provides basic terminology narrowly focused on film tourism and marketing area supplemented by film theory. The practical part of the thesis applies specific elements to real situations of the festival and engages in the description of development up to the present, the operation and, particularly, its marketing tools. Evaluation of the festival is conducted on the basis of information gained from the realized interview and additional sources. The use of SWOT analysis is embodied in this part. Subsequently, possible recommendations are suggested because of the increasing efficiency.
Developing Marketing Communications of International Festival

This diploma thesis examines risk identification, risk assessment, and risk management of existing and potential problems and opportunities at film festival's organization, using Kepner-Tregoe's methodology of Rational Processes. In the opening chapters the term risk is defined, and the Kepner-Tregoe's methodology introduced. The extensive part of the thesis focuses on application of thesis methodology on real problems and opportunities from the author's experience with organizing film festivals both in the Czech republic, and abroad. The aim of this research and application is to find a suitable methodology that can be applied to specific conditions of such a type of cultural organization.
Use of Social Media in the Communication Strategy of Film Festival Finale

This master's thesis has two main objectives. The first one is represented by the theoretical research of the current situation in the field of social media and the explanation of its marketing use. The potential of communication channels suitable for corporate presentations is described in detail thereafter, while most attention is paid to the following services: Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube. The other aim of the work is reflected in the practical part which focuses on a draft of the new communication strategy for Film Festival Finale in social media terms. These specific targets were chosen using the SWOT analysis carried out through an expert inquiry in the festival team. The final section is a guide for organizers of film festivals. This comprehensive social media tactics is divided into three phases describing the different activities of the marketer before, during and after the festival.

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to introduce different types of events and present detailed description of the process from the preparation in beginning to final evaluation, based both on personal experience as well as existing industry standards. Practical part focuses on preparation and progress of two different-sized events - a conference and a film festival. Both events are thoroughly discussed at every stage and final comparison of the two is presented.

The theoretical part focuses on the definitions of the terms communication, marketing communication tools, advertising promotion, etc. and their historical development. Also mentioned are marketing tools and principles and resources of successful advertising. Findings from the theoretical part are applied in the practical part on the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary.

The Bachelor Thesis "Screening art house movies in the multiplex Cinestar Andel" deals with the role of art house movies in the multiplex Cinestar Andel. The theoretical part describes the terms "art house film", "multiplex" and "film festival". It also shows the possibilities of screening art house films. The question of the impact of digitalization on the distribution of Art House films is also considered. The practical part focuses on current examples of screening art house films, namely Febiofest and the Europa Cinema project. The conclusion is answering the question whether it is appropiate to combine different elements of Hollywood blockbusters and European art house cinema or other art cinema in the space of a specific multiplex.
