The Value of FDG PET/CT in the Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Inflammation.

1 Abstract Aim: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of FDG PET/CT in the detection of stent graft infection (SGI) with the use of visual and semiquantitative interpretation, to compare it with standalone CT analysis, to verify the transferability of the experience with FDG PET/CT in surgical prosthesis infection and to define the role of the method in the diagnostic algorithm of SGI. Subjects and Methods: In this retrospective study, two nuclear medicine physicians have independently analyzed 21 FDG PET/CT examinations performed in 20 subjects (16 men, 66 ± 8 years) between 2010 and 2019 for clinical suspicion of SGI. Six subjects examined from other reasons without signs of infection constituted a control group. The images were evaluated for the uptake pattern and intensity, and by the maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax), the target-to-background ratio with blood pool (TBRBP) and liver uptake (TBRhep) as a reference. The SGI was defined as the presence of focal hyperactivity with an intensity exceeding hepatic uptake. CT images were independently assessed for signs of SGI. Clinical review of all further patients' data served as the standard of reference. Results: Twelve cases were established as SGI by the clinical review. Cyanoacrylate in treatment of great and small saphenous vein.

Introduction: Cyanoacrylate gluing technique is the least strenuous treatment of varicose trunks which does not necessitate tumescent anaesthesia and post procedural stocking compression. In response to the long-term unavailability of commercial kits with N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (Histoacryl) in the Czech Republic, we used a modified technique, which is based on the technique of endovascular treatment of AV malformations in the brain and uses a mixture of cyanoacrylate and Lipiodol to clog. We evaluated the success of the method, complications and clinical improvement of chronic venous insufficiency. Parts of the work are histological findings of collected samples of veins at various time intervals. In an in vitro experiment, we compared the bond strength of a bonded shear to a tear device. The adhesive mix values used were compared with those of commercially available adhesives for this purpose. Treatment for Brain Arteriovenous Malformations

Introduction: The surgical and endovascular results of the treatment of pial AVM provided at our Neurosurgical centre are presented. These results are supported by neuropsychological outcomes of subgroup of treated patients. Going by these results and by an overview of literary data on the efficacy and complications of each therapeutic modality, the optimal algorithm of indications is presented Cohort of patients: The main series comprises 222 patients aged 9 to 87 years treated in the years 1998 - 2013. The surgical group consists of 85 patients, 55 patients received solely endovascular treatment. Thirty-four patients were consulted and referred directly to the Radiosurgical unit. The remaining 48 were recommended to abide by the strategy of "watch and wait". A subgroup of 66 patients, who underwent treatment of AVM was neuro-psychologically tested at least two years after treatment using a battery of tests constructed specifically for this study. A control group consisted of 10 subjects without any neurological disease. Results: In the surgical group, serious complications were 3.5% at a 96.5% therapeutic efficacy. Intracranial Aneurysms - Treatment Options and Natural Course. Safety and Efficacy of Treatment Strategies for Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Aneurysms.

BACKGROUND: Posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) aneurysms are an uncommon, heterogeneous group of aneurysms with poorer neurological outcomes compared to other intracranial aneurysms. At first, as part A, we conducted a systematic review of the literature to evaluate the safety and efficacy of treatment strategies for PICA-aneurysms. Subsequently, as part B, we performed a multicenter retrospective study to analyze the outcome in a large series of patients treated with contemporary microsurgical and endovascular techniques. METHODS: For the meta-analysis, a systematic search of Medline, EMBASE, Scopus and Web of Science was done for studies published through November 2015. We included studies that described treatment of PICA-aneurysms with ≥10 patients. Random-effects meta-analysis was used to pool the following outcomes: complete occlusion, technical success, periprocedural morbidity/mortality, stroke rates, aneurysm recurrence/rebleed, CN-palsies rates, and long-term neurological morbidity/mortality. Cost Analysis of Treatment of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms in the Olomouc Hospital

The aneurysma of abdominal aorta is a pathological amplification of the diameter of this artery. It is a serious illness which affects 2 -- 6 % men and 1 -- 2 % women over 60. In the case of a rupture there is the mortality of 80 -- 90 %. If the aneurysma is diagnosed in time it is necessary to solve this state with an adequate treatment. The surgical treatment consists in substitution of the afflected part with a vessel replacement. Thanks to the development of medicinal technologies the aorta aneurysma is more and more often treated by the help of stentgrapth by which the afflicted part of the aorta is set aside from the circulation. The theoretical (the first) part of this work deals with the issues of the aneurysma of abdominal aorta, and it also describes the methods of its treatment. Then the work describes costs analyses used in the medical service. The practical part of the work is dedicated to the cost analysis of the treatment by means of a cost minimalization method. The work processes data of a group of patients being treated during a certain period of time in the Olomouc University Hospital in the Department of Vessel Surgery and in the Department of Interventional Radiology. The aim of this work is to evaluate and compare objectively the costs of abdominal aorta aneurysma treatment by individual methods, and to compare the results with foreign studies.
