On the Morphosyntactic and Lexicosemantic Features of the gelten + zu-infinitive Construction in Contemporary Written German
HOLLÁ, Barbora
There are many possibilities in the German language how to direct one's statement either on the originator of the happenings or on the happenings themselves. In this Bachelor thesis one of such possibilities will be examined, that puts the originator of the happenings in the background and puts the focus on the happenings, namely the infinitive construction gelten + zu-Infinitiv, which serves as a paraphrase for the passive voice. For that will be used the Deutsches Referenzkorpus, based on which a detailed analysis of selected 300 examples will be conducted.

Title: Valency of verbs in the Prague Dependency Treebank Author: PhDr. Zdeňka Urešová Department: Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics MFF UK Supervisor: Prof. PhDr. Eva Hajičová, DrSc. Abstract: This dissertation describes PDT-Vallex, a valency lexicon of Czech verbs, and its relation to the annotation of the Prague Dependency Treebank (PDT). The PDT-Vallex lexicon was created during the an- notation of the PDT and it is a valuable source of verbal valency information available both for linguistic research and for computer- ized natural language processing. In this thesis, we describe not only the structure and design of the lexicon (which is closely related to the notion of valency as developed in the Functional Generative De- scription of language) but also the relation between the PDT-Vallex and the PDT. The explicit and full-coverage linking of the lexicon to the treebank prompted us to pay special attention to diatheses; we propose formal transformation rules for diatheses to handle their surface realization even when the canonical forms of verb arguments as captured in the lexicon do not correspond to the forms of these arguments actually appearing in the corpus.

Název práce: Slovníkové zpracování valenčních aspektů slovesných diatezí Autor: Anna Vernerová Ústav: Ústav formální a aplikované lingvistiky Vedoucí disertační práce: doc. RNDr. V této dizertační práci se zabývám zachycením diatezí tvořených pomocí pasivního participia a s nimi příbuzných verbonominálních konstrukcí v gramatické komponentě valenčního slovníkuVALLEX. Vlastnímu tématu práce předchází krátký historický úvod a podrobné shrnutí pojetí valence ve Funkčním generativním popisu. Frequency analysis of means of expression of Passive in Spanish
KANTOROVÁ, Anna
My bachelor thesis named Frequency analysis of means of expression of Passive in Spanish is divided into two parts; theoretical and practical. In the first section of the theoretical part, I examine how the problematic of Spanish passive is seen and explained by Czech linguists. In the second section I describe the attitude of Spanish linguists towards the passive voice. I focused in detail mainly on the chosen periphrastic verbal structures whereby it is possible to express passive in Spanish. The practical part is concentrated to the corpus analysis of the chosen periphrastic verbal structures their frequency of use in specific fields and methods used by Czech linguists for their translation into the Czech language. The aim of my piece of writing was to present and explain periphrastic verbal structures, whereby we can express passive voice in the Spanish language, as a method which is new or unusual for the most of us and thanks to which we can elevate our speech in Spanish even more.
Contrastive analysis of passive voice in Norwegian and Czech
Grossová, Aneta ; Štajnerová, Petra (advisor) ; Dubec, Pavel (referee)
This thesis describes the various uses of the passive voice in Norwegian and Czech. The theoretical part defines the category of voice and describes different ways of expressing the passive voice in both languages. The practical part comprises two largely independent chapters. The first one uses text corpora to explore the ratio between the active and passive voice as well as the frequency of different passive constructions in technical, journalistic and literary styles. The second chapter focuses mainly on methods of translating the passive voice used in Norwegian literature to Czech; however, it also touches the topic of the overall frequency of the passive voice in translation.

Semantic diatheses in Czech and other Slavonic languages
Skwarska, Karolína
In the presented paper different types of so called semantic diatheses in Czech, Russian and Polish are examined. Diathesis is understood as a relation between two constructions of the same situational content and one verb lexeme, which are syntactically structured in different ways. The comparative approach is emphasized – the differences among languages are studied on surface and deep layers. We analyze certain semantic groups of verbs and their ability to function as a basic member of specific diatheses. Very complicated relations are demonstrated on lexemes léčit, prořezat and its Polish and Russian counterparts.
