Ideology of Liberalism, or Ideology after its own End
Korda, Tomáš ; Suša, Oleg (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
The essay begins with Benjamin`s comprehension of truth and his method of constellation which aims to the truth. I connect the method to the act of naming, which I derive from comprehension of subject in German idealism. Method is necessary condition for very constellation of liberal ideology. Contemporary liberalism thus does not only symbolize time after "the end ideology", but even space of time, when the ideology acquire its own most effective form. "The truth became most effective form of lie." In this sense I continue in critique of postmodernism as the ideology of late capitalism. In fine I outline the way to postmodernism by force of "risk thinking" which remains faithful to dialectic. Solely immanent critique which is far from normative critique of postmodernism sets in motion rigid conditions caused by omnipresent ideology.

Šulcová, Veronika ; Zelená, Alena (advisor) ; Nieć, Grzegorz (referee)
Although the combination of humour and holocaust may seem rather startling, further analysis of humour characteristics brings to light its significant functions, which, according to the survivors, humour in the holocaust truly fulfilled. Whether it is a matter of being able to see the object of one's attention from several perspectives, from an emotional distance or being able to release accumulated frustrations, there is clear evidence of humour's appreciable role during the holocaust and in the aftermath. Within the framework of coping with the trauma caused by the holocaust experience also emerged holocaust literature dealing with the subject from a humorous perspective, which motivated a lot of debates developed about appropriateness of humour in the holocaust representation. To other controversial works from this area also belong the short stories by Tadeusz Borowski and the novel The Nazi & the Barber by Edgar Hilsenrath. This master thesis follows humour, satire and cynicism as means of coping with traumatic holocaust experience based on the example of the above mentioned works of Tadeusz Borowski and Edgar Hilsenrath, which, according to many critics, tested the limits of holocaust representation thanks to their unusual humorous approach. Thus, the aim of the thesis is to analyze these...

Vodička, Bohumil ; Hauser, Michael (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
7 The abstract I consider the works of Peter Sloterdijk in my thesis. I concentrate to Sloterdijk's way of understanding of the topic cynicism in the relationship to kynicism. At first I try to describe the topic cynicism which I consider as very important to understand Sloterdijk's way of understanding of the European history in the book Falls Europa erwacht. I try to explain, how the cynicism influences various parts of life, I consider particularly the military cynicism and the cynicism of power. I consider the political and philosophical vision of Europe in the second part of the thesis because the history of Europe and its state nowadays was influenced by the cynicism very strongly. I try to explain Sloterdijk's imagination of the way out from this situation.

Slomková, Kristýna ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
The aim of this study is to examine the contents of men's lifestyle magazines such as Maxim, Esquire, FHM, and one women's lifestyle magazine Glanc. The author used two analytical procedures: qualitative analysis by experts group and quantitative content analysis of sentences in the selected articles of the chosen magazines. The analysis pointed out the differences between the perception of content and the actual content. If the reader has some impression of the text, it does not mean that a more detailed analysis of sentences will reach the same conclusion. Effect of text is highly individual matter - this thesis came to the conclusion that although men's lifestyle magazines can be controversial for some people, upon closer examination the magazines cannot be clearly labeled as chauvinistic, cynical, ironic or tabloid. The author devoted to these categories in detail in the quantitative part of the analysis. Key words: Maxim, FHM, Esquire, Glanc, journal, magazine, lifestyle, content analysis, theme, interview, report, medium, tabloid, chauvinism, irony, cynicism
