Beginning Teacher and Classroom management

This diploma thesis deals with classroom management from the point of view of beginning teachers, graduates of the field of Teaching for the 1st grade of elementary school at the Faculty of Education at Charles University. The first chapter is devoted to the definition of the concept of classroom management. The second chapter considers the role of the teacher, the teacher's authority, its typology, the relationship between authority and education, and the importance of taking care of the teacher's mental health. The next chapter describes student discipline, possible causes od problém behavior, and methods of prevention or resolution. The following chapter on classroom climate analyzes the relationships that are formed in the school environment. It specifically explores the interaction between the teacher and the student, but also touches upon communication between students, and briefly discusses nonviolent communication. The penultimate chapter is devoted to student motivation. It examines both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The sixth and last chapter describes evaluates assessment in teaching. The Work of a Class Teacher with Rules at Primary School

The diploma thesis deals with the work of a class teacher with rules at primary school. The theoretical part offers a comprehensive view of class rules as a tool of classroom management. The subchapters explain the meaning of the rules for teachers, pupils and individual development in general. They are also devoted to the characteristics of the teaching profession in relation to classroom management, climate, and discipline. Practical suggestions related to the creation and establishment of rules, their enforcement, reinforcement, and work with rules throughout the school year are also part of the theoretical framework. The practical part presents a mixed-method research combining a quantitative questionnaire method for teachers with qualitative interviews with second and fifth-grade pupils, complemented by structured observation. The aim of the research is to find out the opinion and attitude of first-grade teachers towards classroom rules as a classroom management tool with the potential to positively influence classroom climate and discipline, and whether and how this tool is used in practice. Climate of a school class at a primary school

This diploma thesis focuses on the social climate in primary school classrooms. It aims to assess whether classroom teachers have an overview of the social climate in their classes. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part examines the social climate of the classroom and the school. Additionally, it deals with aspects of inclusion and integration in the educational environment, as well as classroom management strategies that influence the classroom social climate. In the practical part, teachers' characteristics of the climate in their class are compared with the results of climate examinations conducted in their classes. The research happened in three classrooms and combined qualitative and quantitative approach. Three instruments were used for data collection: a questionnaire, interviews, and a observation. During the research evaluation phase, the averaged student responses in the questionnaire were compared with the teachers' responses, and data triangulation was performed. The completed questionnaires were compared not only with each other, but with the teachers' characteristic of the classroom climate obtained through interviews and observations as well. Critical issues in English language teacher education regarding lesson planning and classroom management

This thesis is part of a GAJU team project focusing on critical points in the preparation of foreign language teachers. Its main aim is to highlight critical points in the undergraduate preparation of foreign language teacher education students related to lesson planning and classroom management. In the theoretical part, the thesis addresses the topics of teacher requirements and stages of teacher preparation, classroom management and lesson planning. In the practical part, the author conducts a questionnaire survey with master's students in the subject areas and novice foreign language teachers to map critical points in lesson preparation and its implementation in practice. Then she conducts follow-up interviews with selected respondents on the themes emerging from the questionnaire results.
Congruence of managerial competencies of teacher, headmaster and business manager

This thesis deals with the managerial competencies of school teachers and headmasters. It also focuses on finding the common features of such competencies as are shared by the two aforementioned professions and company managers. Its main aim is to find out whether a successful teacher would be equally successful in the position of a headmaster, or whether a company manager can be a successful headmaster without having worked as a teacher. The theoretical part deals with the definition of "management" and managerial functions, the definition of school management, and "classroom management". The personalities of a manager, their qualities, knowledge, skills, the term "leadership" as well as "competencies" are also clarified here. At the end of this part there is an analysis of managerial competencies in the position of a company manager, headmaster, and teacher as well. The practical part analyses the subjective perception of the job duties, required qualities, skills and competencies in teachers, headmasters and managers. The thesis contains a comparative research. Dialogue was used to map such activities as form the daily job duties of the two professions and such competencies as help the respondents to be successful at work. Differentiation in English language teaching at the elementary school

- v anglickém jazyce This diploma thesis called 'Differentiation in English language teaching at the elementary school' deals with employing differentiated instruction in a fifth-grade class at an elementary school in order to make learning more effective by balancing the stronger and the weaker students' needs. The theoretical part focuses on topics of learning and effective learning with an emphasis on English language teaching, mixed ability classes, learner differences and differentiated instruction. The final chapter of this part proposes a set of example activities and ideas that might be used in mixed-ability classes. The practical part uses action research to determine whether differentiate instruction was employed successfully. The outcomes of the research are discussed at the end of this part. The assumption is that after the research is finished, the situation in the class will improve since all students will feel adequately engaged in the lessons.

Teacher's planning as a managing skill

The Bachelor thesis concentrates on planning as one of the managing skills. The aim is to find out, in which professional situations, teachers of nursery and primary schools use planning, moreover, the usual subject of their planning and types of plans employed. The theoretical part clarifies and summarizes terms and theoretical findings, on the basis of available bibliography, connected to planning in general, as well as planning of a teacher during a lesson management. The practical part is the result of a qualitative research which was executed by the method of an interview, two teachers from a nursery school and three teachers of a primary school were interviewed. On the basis of these data, the list of all the activities of a teacher related to planning during a lesson was compiled. Their analysis led to define those that can be considered as managing skills.
