Attitudes of Policy Actors to the Question of active Fatherhood in the Czech Republic

Bachelor thesis deals with the topic of active fatherhood in the Czech Republic. The purpose of this paper is to describe attitudes of family policy actors and discuss possibilities to further support the concept of active fatherhood in the Czech Republic. At first, it identifies key family policy actors, whose attitudes are necessary to be observed. These attitudes are then identified using primary (expert interviews) and secondary data. The paper comes to a conclusion that even though notable actors problematize lack of involvement of fathers to the child care, we are presently in the phase of problem identification on the level of state subjects, such as Ministry of Work and Social Affairs and active fatherhood is currently supported especially by civic associations. Some degree of communication is ongoing only within The Government Council for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men. The reason why active fatherhood is not supported more is that a grand coalition of actors which would support active fatherhood through its shared beliefs has not been formed yet. It can be expected that civic associations will further support active fatherhood with their own projects. Support of Active Fatherhood in Nordic Countries

The thesis deals with topic of active fatherhood in Nordic countries - Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland. The phenomenon of caring fathers is introduced as well as the cooperation of Nordic countries in field of family policy. The aim of this paper is to inform about development of policies which are supporting caring fathers and help readers to understand them better in context of family policy changes in each country. The thesis also identifies factors causing differences in these policies and analyses their current state to compare their results. At the conclusion, there is a consideration of possible policy changes in Czech Republic inspired by best practices identified in Nordic countries; introduction of short paternity leave is suggested.
Active fatherhood as a part of family policy in EU

Active fatherhood as a part of family policy in EU Abstract The main objective of this thesis is to explore the conditions that determine the active involvement of men in the care of children in European Union member states and to analyze the impact of active fatherhood on the economic activity of women and fertility. A part of this study is a typology of family leaves with regard to the possibilities of fulfilling nature of active fatherhood, analysis of legislative conditions connected to paternity and parental leave as well as analysis of the Eurobarometer 59.1 survey dealing with the attitudes of men to use parental leave and the circumstances of these attitudes. The relationships between the main factors that influence the decision making of men about their participation in the care of the youngest children are analyzed and there is also tested the effect of this decision. In conclusion, the study outlines the development of conditions of childcare by men and summarizes proposals of legislative changes in conjunction of the studied issue in the Czech Republic.
Social policy tools in support of active fatherhood in the Czech Republic in 2015

The growing emancipation of women on the labour market causes problems in reconciling their professional and parental roles. The present thesis discusses possible solutions to this problem by involving fathers in childcare and household care. It analyzes the feasibility of this approach, as well as its possible legislative and financial support. The theoretical part examines the current Czech legislation in this area within an international context. Both the legislative and financial tools are subsequently analyzed in the practical part. The thesis focuses on paternal and parental leaves and part-time jobs. Based on the analysis and international comparison, it proposes the factors crucial for using these benefits and looks for ways of effectively influencing these factors.
Analysis of the Management of Maternity and Parental leave

The topic of this Bachelor's Thesis is to analyze the programs of the management of maternity and parental leave in three companies dealing with manufacturing, banking and telecommunications services. To assess the effectiveness, satisfaction and possible shortcomings of these programs in the care of the employee on maternity or parental leave, and if necessary, propose alternative solutions. The work is divided into a theoretical part where the explanation of the term maternity and parental leave, as well as an overview of major flexible forms of work and other ways to provide support for child care by the employer. The practical part describes the programs monitored companies and based on a survey evaluates these programs by the workers, discusses the return of workers to the labor market and active fatherhood
The quality of family life when a man is on parental leave

This thesis deals with the quality of family life when a man is on parental leave. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the family, sexual identity and gender identity, female and male roles, fatherhood and quality of life. The information needed to carry out the empirical part were obtained by the qualitative research technique, semi-structured interviews with families when a man is on parental leave.
