Rajnoch, Jan ; Kalínská, Emílie (advisor) ; Zamarski, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this bachelor work is to advert to unexploited potential of Russian railway network in the context of Euro-Asian container transportation and Euro-Asian trade. Nowadays, enormous part of merchandise flow between Europe and Asia is conveyed by sea transport. Despite the ancient fame of Silk roads trading activities in Euro-Asian inland faded away and forwarding via Suez Canal acquired almost monopoly position. At first, I will try to set up arguments supporting the position of Russian railways as a new possible supplement to sea transport. I will focuse on the new international projects tackling the problems and future perspectives of the Trans-Siberian railway. The key part of my bachelor work is dedicated to comparison between railway and sea transportation in the direction between Europe and Asia. At the conclusion, in accordance with previous comparison, I will try to determine to what measure could the Russian railway network compete with the current transportation via sea routes.
