Transformations of Kladno in the Period of Industrialization and the Great Depression Key words: Kladno region, industrialization, The Great Depression, Poldi Hut, Kablo, railways, coal mines, historical geography, industrial landscape This bachelor thesis deals with the transformation of Kladno region since the second half of the 19th century to present. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the extent to which the Great Depression has affected the development of the mining and metallurgical center in Central Bohemia, the territory of Kladno region and society in this area. For this reason, much of the work is devoted to the development of the area from the second half of the 19th century to the economic crisis. The Kladno region has developed and expanded rapidly to the surrounding landscape, as it has become dominantly industrial due to social changes due to its originally agricultural area. The economic crisis manifested itself in the Kladno region in 1932. The settlements ceased to penetrate the surrounding landscape and support the families of the unemployed from urban budgets. However, there was a problem with insufficient infrastructure and social care in front of Kladno municipalities. The economic recovery helped to prepare for the next world war. Role Federálního Rezervního Systému v ekonomice USA

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the Central Bank of the United States, the Federal Reserve Bank, to define its role during two serious crises and to research changes occurred to FED's incomes. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to three entities which Federal Reserve consists of, the second one obtains the historical information about the reasons of its foundation and chronological chain of events preceding it. The Great Depression, The Great Recession and the actions of the FRS that were undertaken during these periods are described in the third chapter. After the recent crisis that occurred in 2008 the structure and amount of FED's incomes changed a lot. I devoted the fourth chapter of this bachelor thesis to the analysis of reasons of these changes and its consequences.

"Mototown Detroit" - Economic and social developement of the town from the end of 19. century to 1941

Résumé Dissertation analysis raising of phenomenon of automobilism in the american city of Detroit in first half of 20. century. Analysis is focus primarily on the "Big Three" of car producers: Ford Motor Company, General Motors a Chrysler LLC. Analysis is temporalily delimitated with two moments, closely conected with developing of automobilism: Increase of popularity of cars at the begin of 20. century and Great depression. Important moments in delimitated time period were especially: founding of Ford Motor Company in 1903, founding of General Motors in 1908, implementation of assembly line by Henry Ford in 1913, founding of Chrysler LLC in 1925 and of course the Great Depresion from 1929. Special priority is focus on the personality od Henry Ford and his style of organization of work, company development and inovations, that were introduced mostly by his company, followed by others. Henry Ford has absolutely special position, mostly because of his complex care of his employes.Objective of this work is not only to analyze unprecedent increase and development of the city of Detroit, but also to describe demographical change of society, due by the development of automobile industry in the state of Michigan. Smoot - Hawley tariff and its effects on economy of The United States

This bachelor thesis focuses on effects of Smoot-Hawley tariff in The United States of America, during 1930. Specifically, the thesis focuses on the analysis of the tariff's effects to process of The Great Depression and is trying to answer the question if the tariff made The Depression worse. In the first part, there is described economic situation in the United States before the tariff passed and then there is described way, how the tariff was passed. The next part is divided into three chapters, and every single one of them analyze effects of the tariff from different sight of view, which is change of farmer's and producer's situation, monetary effects and effects of the tariff to world trade. The thesis analyzes these effects on process of the Great Depression in The United States. Conclusion of the thesis is the statement that Smoot-Hawley tariff made an effect on The Great Depression, mainly by his effects on world trade, which was lower because of the tariff and it was a break to recovery from recession.

Impact of The Great Depression on Czechoslovak mechanical engineering in 20s and 30s of the 20th century

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the situation of Czechoslovak industry in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century, especially mechanical engineering. Emphasis is placed on the effects of the Great Depression and the related anti-crisis measures in the industry. I analysed the direct impact of the crisis on various engineering companies. The theoretical part is devoted to the theory of state intervention in the economy and the development of Czechoslovak industry in the 20s and 30s. The analytical part is dedicated to anti-crisis measures in the industry, analyzes the direct impact of the crisis on the industry and selected engineering companies. It also describes the strategy of companies during the crisis. The main goal of the research is to determine that the structure of Czechoslovak industrial production was before the crisis fairly outdated and new industries still fall short of major proportions. The economic crisis has led to changes in the industry structure and the growing importance of new industries. I confirmed the hypothesis that the anti-crisis policy of the government was not effective enough and the measures taken had a negative impact on corporate strategy.

Impacts of the Great Depression on the Czechoslovak Industry and Agriculture in the 30s of the 20th century

The aim of this thesis is analyse impacts of the Great Depression on Czechoslovak economy. Main attention is devoted to industry and agriculture. This thesis also describes real measures which were introduced in those sectors of Czechoslovak economy. Those measures are also critically evaluated. Unlike the major part of studies, the Great Depression is researched from the perspective of Czechoslovak economists and economic theorists. The Great Depression is described in context of Czechoslovak political spectrum. The main theory of the thesis is statement that Czechoslovak government has chosen correct measures for stabilization the Czechoslovakian economy. Nevertheless I disprove this thesis in the end. Based on comparison with industrial and agricultural production indexes I found that worse impact of crisis was at industry than agriculture.

The Great Depression in the USA – process, causes and advice

This Bachelor thesis deals with The Great Depression. The work describes economic and political situation during 20's and 30's of 20th century. First part of this thesis focuses on a time period which led to the eruption of the crisis. Second part solves political actions of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, which were supposed to restore economic situation, and analyzes impact of these actions on economics. The work searches the causes of this crisis and attempts to find a solution on how to prevent before similar crisis in future.

The Effect of the Great Depression on the Czechoslovak export

The topic of the bachelor's thesis is the effects of the Great Depression on the Czechoslovak export. Its consequences reflected in the thirties, not only in territorial and commodity structure, but also in the trade policy of Czechoslovakia. In my thesis I focus briefly on the foreign trade, which despite the obstacles associated with the newly established state, developer quite satisfactorily. The main section of the thesis is the Czechoslovak export in thirties, where I analyse trade policy and the structure of domestic export. The impetus for the changes in trade policy and actions of the Czechoslovak Government in the thirties was Great Depression that hit the entire world market. These steps should have had a stimulating effect on domestic export, but its impact was at least debatable. Furthermore, the Great Depression caused significant changes not only in the commodity structure, which had to adapt to completely changed demand, but also in the territorial structure, when the interest in non-European markets generally increased.

This Bachelor's work deals with the consequences of the Great Depression for Czechoslovakia in the 1930's. To better understand the situation before the Great Depression the work begins with characteristic of Czechoslovakia in the 1920's. The course of this crisis is also shortly outlined there. This bachelor's work focuses primarily on the consequences of the Great Depression on the Czechoslovakian economy connected with the social security of the inhabitants. In this work we can also read about rising national problems in Sudetenland in the 1930's. However, this part is described very shortly because of the breadth of this topic. It could be used for writting another bachelor's work.
