TV News as a Communicative Means

Bachelor thesis TV news as a communicative means deals with the analysis of two main broadcasting corporations, Česká televize with its' news broadcast Události and TV Nova and its' Televizní noviny. The first part, theoretical, explains important terms, e.g. news, journalism style, news broadcast, news broadcast style. Practical part focuses on analysis from the different linguistic levels (morphology, lexicology, syntax, infotainment and tabloid news). The analysed days were the following: 16. 1., 17. 1. and 18. 1. 2012. The aim was to find identical features or differences. The thesis ends with the overall analysis. It also consists analysis of headlines and introductory parts of news broadcast, comparison of news broadcast from the view of length of news.
Occupation of Picture Editor in TV News

In the present thesis, the author aims at the issue of visual editor in television newscast. In practical part of the thesis, particular occupations of visual editors are characterized. The characteristics were conducted on the grounds of author's research in newsrooms at TV Nova and ČT 24. Furthermore, the practical part comprises comparison and description of differences among the observed occupations. It also provides analysis of visual information Události, the main news broadcast of Czech Television. Theoretical part covers issues related to the occupation of visual editor in television news broadcast such as digitalisation, computer graphics, principles of visual language in television news and characteristics of television studios at TV Nova and ČT 24.
The role of the editor in television newscast

This batchelor thesis focuses on the profession of an editor in czech TV newscast. It describes the origin of the job, its development and its actual workload with emphasis on the differences between the public service Czech television and one of the private channels TV Nova. Appart from specialized literature and other sources from the field of study, a significant amount of information is based on interviews with editors from both TV stations and observation of their work. In the following part of the text, the acquired knoledge is compared with quantitative and qualitative analysis of the main newscast sessions of both TV channels made in the week from April 23 to April 29 2018.
United States-Soviet Union relations and INF treat in the Czechoslovakian newscast in 1985-1987

Bachelor's thesis The US-Soviet Relations in the "Television newscast" of Czechoslovak Television on the Example of El Salvador in 1981 analyses the US-Soviet relations in the main news program of Czechoslovak Television (CST) in 1981, on the example of El Salvador's civil war. The thesis describes the early-80's atmosphere and relations between the two "superpowers" during the Cold War. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the legislative measures which were dependent on the totalitarian regime in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (CSSR); it introduces the basic terminology of a news service and raises the question of media manipulation. Then the thesis describes secondary the US-Soviet relations from the late 70's until the beginning of the first term of Ronald Reagan as a president, and the change in policy towards to the Soviet Union (SSSR) after the governing of Jimmy Carter in the Office of President. Reporting across the hemispheres: conceptual comparison of the most viewed newscasts in the Czech republic and New Zealand

Master thesis "Reporting across the Hemispheres: Conceptual Comparison of the Most Viewed Newscasts in the Czech Republic and New Zealand" describes contemporary valid and frequently used concepts of television news shows of the most viewed newscasts in the Czech Republic and New Zealand, which are Televizní noviny airing on TV Nova and One News airing on TV One. It compares both technical and especially the content-related aspects of newscasts during a one-month-long period (January 2014) in order to find general scheme for the choice of the topics, their processing, arrangement and their final presentation in each show. The thesis then puts ascertained findings into the broader national, historical and cultural context of the media sphere in both countries and furthermore, it compares both media systems and their newscast contents and explains why some factors used in them are the same and other differs.
