Title: The effect of nordic walking on the physical fitness and emotional state of a group of women over 60 years of age Objectives: This thesis aimed to verify whether the given exercise program based on Nordic walking (NW) will affect the functional physical fitness and emotional state of a group of senior women. Methods: A total of 23 women with an average age of 68.96 years ± 2.92 participated in the research, and were divided into two groups. Eleven of them were part of the experimental group and 12 women formed the control group. The experimental group attended a 90-minute NW session once a week for 12 weeks. The Senior Fitness Test (Rikli and Jones, 2013) was used to repeatedly assess their physical fitness. The emotional state was assessed before and after the program using the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale. A visual analogue scale was used for assessment before and after individual lessons. Results: Upon completion of the 12-week exercise program using Nordic walking, the experimental group experienced a statistically significant improvement in all monitored parameters of the Senior Fitness Test, namely DKK strength, HKK strength, shoulder joint flexibility, dexterity, dynamic balance and aerobic fitness. As the summary graphs show, the improvement of the experimental group compared...

Title: Exercise with seniors in a retirement home with a special regime Objective: The main aim of the study was to determine whether seniors with cognitive impairment experience improvements that have a statistical significance in selected components of physical fitness after a three-month exercise program. Furthermore, it was checked whether regular physical activity changes their attitude towards exercise. Methods: The study involved 9 probands (3 of them male) aged 72 to 90 years with cognitive impairment. The probands completed a three-month program (April-June 2022) in which they performed group and seated chair exercises twice a week for sixty minutes. At the beginning and end of the intervention program, they underwent an orientation fitness assessment using the senior fitness test and a questionnaire form on health limitations and attitudes toward exercise. Results: The results of the senior fitness test showed that there was a statistically significant improvement in the parameters of lower limb strength, and agility with dynamic balance. Some improvement was seen in the other parameters, but without the statistical significance. Most probands showed a positive change in their attitude towards physical activity. Author: Bc. Barbora Kuhnová Title: Maintaining physical fitness and adherence to physical activity in healthy elderly women. Objective: The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether or not the seniors that participated in the project EXODYA back in 2017 and 2018, managed to maintain the level of physical fitness and adherence to physical aktivity (PA). The secondary goal was to determine the level of current PA and also how the level of PA was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: This is an empirical-theoretical study with a qualitative-quantitative research design. The research group I (N=30, average age 72 ± 4,02 years) took part in a questionnaire survey that included the International Physical Activity Questionnaire IPAQ and supplementary questions about influencing PA by the pandemics, using Google form. The research group II was made by 7 women that were also part of the research group I and that took part in the EXODYA project in 2018. The testing of these women consisted of 4 items of the Senior Fitness Test, hand grip strength using a digital hand dynamometer and maximum oxygen demand based on a stress test on a bicycle ergometer. Results: Most of the senior women who participated in the EXODYA project in 2018 maintained a level of physical fitness as well as adherence to PA....

Title: Fitness programs for seniors. Objectives: The purpose of the following thesis is to test three seniors and to determine, if an offered intervention program influenced and improved their condition. Methods: Three seniors 71 - 80 years old took part in the program. Two men at the age of 74 and 80 and a woman at the age of 71. The level of a functional body fitness was measured with the help of a modified test battery Senior Fitness Test (Rikli, Jones, 2013), the strength of hand pressure with Hang Grip dynamometer and the body composition with a bioelectrical impedance (BIA), which is used for body fat and fat free mass measurements. The seniors were tested at the beginning and at the end of the program. The intervention program was carried out in the course of 8 weeks, performed 2x a week for 40 minutes at an average intensity. The performance changes were recorded and differences calculated. Final results were compared to test SFT values. Results: Test results proved that a chosen intervention program led to changes. Following results have been achieved: 30-Second Chair Stand Test: proband 1 improvement of 11, 1%, proband 2 improvement of 5, 3% and proband 3 no change; Chair Sit-and-Reach Test: proband 1 improvement of 5, 0%, proband 2 improvement of 33, 3% and proband 3 no change; Back...
Evaluation of the functional fitness of seniors using the method "Senior fitness test" with regard to the exercises in open and closed kinetic chains
Hrtús, Martin ; Táborská, Silvie (advisor) ; Chalupská, Tereza (referee)
The physical activity of seniors leads to keeping active life and positively influences mental and physical health. With the quality and quantity of physical activity is directly related to the functional physical fitness, which in the elderly should not be underestimated. For this work, we choose a standardized test battery "Senior Fitness Test", which we used to determine the functional fitness for the 20 seniors. Testing was performed at the beginning and after 6-week therapy. The therapy was conditional training in two groups. One group practiced in open kinetic chain and the second group in closed kinetic chains. We evaluated the obtained data and compared with each other. In the theoretical part we try to approach the issue of seniors out of their physical, mental and social aspects, as well as the issue of kinetic chains and introduce the "Senior Fitness Test."
Physical activity after the renal transplantation
Sýsová, Alena ; Mahrová, Andrea (advisor) ; Bartůňková, Staša (referee)
Introduction: Thanks to modern medicine people with chronic forms of the diseases can live longer than before. In this work we concerned with last stage of chronical kidney dinase, which is treated by dialysis or transplantation. Succesful renal transplantation leads to significant improvement in quality of life of patients, but after transplantation there are still some risk factors, which may influence health and physical condition of men. We can eliminace these risk factors with some non-pharmacological ways, for example with intervention program of regular physical activity and special nutrition, which can help to gain and increase patient`s physical condition. The main focus of research of this thesis was to evaluate physical condition and amount of physical aktivity of 4 groups of patients, each with another intervention, after renal transplant. We used the battery of motor tests "Senior Fitness Test Manual". Aim: Analyze, how regular physical activity, special nutrition and combination of both influence physical condition of patients after renal transplant. Methods: This research work is a part of the grant project IGA MZ CR 173 (NS-10518- 3/2009). We used 21 participants selected from patients of Nephrology Clinic TC IKEM in Prague for our solution. Physical fitness testing was performed...
