Strength training in patients with cardiovascular disease from the perspective of physiotherapist in the Czech Republic

Jan Vávra Title: Strength training in patients with cardiovascular disease from the perspective of physiotherapy students and physiotherapists of the Czech Republic Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the relationship of physiotherapy students/physiotherapists in the Czech Republic to strength/resistance training and to evaluate their relationship to the use of this training in cardiac patients. Methods: A non-standardized questionnaire was created for data collection. 497 physiotherapists and physiotherapy students participated in the research. The questionnaire was created and then sent out using Google Forms, the results were then evaluated in Microsoft Excel. Results: The results showed that up to 90 % (n = 449) of the research sample (n = 497) of physiotherapists and physiotherapy students in the Czech Republic do not think that there was enough time spent by topic of strength training during their studies. Over 86 % (n = 432) consider strength training for cardiovascular patients to be beneficial, and 76 % (n = 378) consider it as an integral part of the rehabilitation process for these patients. Design of electromagnetic weight lifting equipment

The aim of this thesis is the design of an electromagnetic strength training equipment intended for the home environment. It focuses on enabling all muscle groups to be strengthened using one device. It looks at the shortcomings of current devices for home use and aims to design and develop a new and better solution that would allow for a more efficient and comfortable training while being suitable in the chosen environment. The thesis is mainly based on observations of practice, consultations with users, trainers, and other relevant sources. A new design of equipment was proposed and its functionality and suitability for home weight training needs to be verified. The design was refined in terms of shape as well as ergonomics, materials, and colour to meet the arising requirements. The final product met the objectives of the work and came up with a new approach to assembling the equipment.
Asymmetric strenght training and its impact on maximal strenght

Title: Asymmetric strength training and its impact on maximal strength Objectives: The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to compare the impact of asymmetric and symmetric strength training on the development of 1RM in the bench press and deadlift exercises. Methods: Sixteen female participants took part in the research, who were divided into two groups, Experimental Group 1 and Experimental Group 2. Experimental Group 1, with n=8 participants, performed asymmetric strength training for a period of ten weeks. Experimental Group 2, also with n=8 participants, performed symmetric strength training for the same duration. After completing the intervention strength program, a post-test measurement was conducted, followed by the evaluation of the results. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and the significance of the results was assessed through ANOVA and Cohen's effect size coefficient. Results: On average, the group that underwent symmetric strength training showed greater improvement in the bench press exercise. Conversely, the group that performed asymmetric training demonstrated greater improvement in the deadlift exercise. Organizational forms of strength training and their impact on explosive power

Title: Organizational forms of strength training and their impact on explosive power. Thesis: Using statistical analysis to assess the immediate effect of different organizational forms of strength training on explosive power. Methods: Selected probands underwent three resistance training sessions with different organizational forms. Before and after the strength training sessions, all participants underwent trap bar jump testing. The output from the test was maximum and mean velocity. Based on the data obtained, statistical analysis was performed using R studio software. Results: According to the statistical analysis, the most significant influence on the explosive power is the following trisets. This was followed by supersets, and the smallest difference in explosive power before and after training was observed with traditional sets The highest decrease in mean velocity was observed after completing resistance training with trisets. In the case of maximal velocity, the highest decrease was for supersets, but the trisets lagged behind by only 0.1 %. The smallest effect in both cases was for the traditional sets. Author: Mgr. Roman Juřík Title: The effect of modifications in resistance training parameters on blood pressure values during and after the training session. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the acute effect of various forms of agonist- antagonist paired set and agonist resistance training on selected cardiovascular parameters in individuals with normal blood pressure and stage I hypertension. Methods: This research was conducted as a single-blind, controlled study. Based on a systematic literature search, specialized resistance and aerobic training sessions were designed. The program lasted four weeks and included a familiarization phase lasting one week. Prior to the cross-sectional study, anthropometric measurements, biochemical sample collection, muscle strength and fitness testing, and subjective assessment of training intensity using the Borg Scale were conducted. The study consisted of four different resistance training sessions and one aerobic session. Resistance training were categorized into two basic methods: agonist- antagonist paired set and traditional (agonist) training, as well as based on targeted muscle groups (upper and lower body). Effects of respiratory muscles training in smokers and nonsmokers

Effect of respiratory muscle training on Smokers and Non-smokers The aim of this study is to find out the effect of respiratory muscles training on smokers and non-smokers, and how it affects the pulmonary function. For the measurement different tools were used, such as Spirometry, Spirovis, and Ergometer. All the candidates were between the age of 25-35 years, with no health problems. The 16 candidates were divided into two groups, 8 candidates in the smokers group (the people who smokes), and the other 8 people in the non-smokers group (the people who don't smoke). Both the groups went through the initial examination, then suggested exercises for 14 days regularly and then finally the final examination. For the measurement FEV1, FVC, MEF, PEF, PWC170, VO2 max, Inspiratory and Expiratory pressures were used. For the evaluation Paired T-test, Effect size and common variance were used. As a result, the intervention exercises had a positive effect on both the groups but a little more on the smokers as compared with the other group. But there was not a significant result in some of the tests. Therefore, a bigger research on this topic should be done. The Creation and the Verification of a Strength Training Program to Develop Jump in a Youth Basketball Team of BK Tigers ČB

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design and verify an eight-week strength training plan focused on lower limb strength, which should improve the quality of a vertical leap. The program is added to regular team trainings once a week. A youth team of those born 2006-2007, who play basketball for BK Tigers in České Budějovice, is tested. The testing was implemented in an academic year of winter semester 2019. As an entrance and exit test, a vertical leap at the wall is selected. In the theoretical part of the thesis, a general anatomy and physiology, strength abilities, strength training as well as an issue of children s and basketball strength training are described. The practical part describes an implemented training program and a procedure of measurement. The results and their factual importance were verified through the student s t-test and Cohen s d. Individual results are provided in tables and a chart. The results showed an improvement with a low significance level with an average improvement of a vertical leap 8,18 cm.
Acute effect of antagonist supersets strength training on cardiovascular parameters in patients with normotension

Title: Changes in selected cardiovascular parameters induced by different variants of antagonistic strength training in normotensive subjects Goals: The aim of this study is to investigate the changes in selected cardiovascular parameters induced by different variants of antagonistic strength training and their subsequent comparison between a group of working and physically active individuals from FTVS students. Another aim was to determine which of the antagonistic training variants causes a greater response of cardiovascular parameters. Methods: The research work is based on theoretical-empirical foundations, based on a quantitative research method. Measurements using the Arteriograph device were performed in a non-invasive way in two heterogeneous groups. Results: I compared the changes in cardiovascular parameter values between the non-sporting and sporting groups. Since this type of groups were compared, the result was that the values measured in the non-sporting group were increased compared to the sporting group. As a result of the research work, it was found that a greater increase in cardiovascular parameters occurs after antagonistic upper body training. Title: Effect of strength training in improving range of movement - a systematic review Objective: The aim of this diploma thesis is to find answers to research questions in a form of systematic review and to evaluate if strength training has effects on improving range of movement, or if it restricts it or if it doesn't affect it at all. This systematic review also aims to find out how many researchers are inclined to these individual influences of strength training. Method: The Google scholar, PubMed and Web of Science databases were selected for the study search, in which 140 studies were found on basis of established criteria, which were complemented by 4 studies from other sources, from which 128 were subsequently obtained after removing duplicates. An abstract of these studies was studied, of which 95 studies were unsuitable and were therefore excluded. The remaining 33 studies were further studied and, if they met the criteria of at least one research question, were subseqently included in present review. Comparison of the systolic blood pressure rise by semi-knee-bend and leg press with identical weight

In this bachelor thesis I dealt with interconnection of resistance training and blood pressure. In the theoretic part there are findings about resistance training chosen by physiologic aspects connected and description of squad or legpress. For this purpose there was the research of 15 young and healthy probands in the age of 20-25 performed. There were 4 measuring days with 10 days interval within. The explored elements were two basic excercises: half-squad and legpress. The resting blood pressure and the heart frequency of probands were measuered for both excersise in 3 series. The main goal of the thesis is to map the influences of these chosen excercises on systolic blood pressure and processing of theoretic findings. The zero hypothesis was the assumption of no-showing differences of answers on systolic blood pressure and heart frequency with chosen weigh. The zero pressure was rejected with statical significance.
